This is the £225million ($300million) superyacht, which is called 'A', when it visited Guernsey in the Channel Islands on the 21st September 2016. M/Y A is a luxury motor yacht designed by Philippe Starck and Martin Francis,[6][7][8] and constructed by Blohm + Voss at the HDW shipyard in Kiel, Germany.[5][9] It was commissioned in November 2004, and delivered in 2008 at a rumoured cost of US$300 million.[10][11] With a length of 119 metres (390 ft) and displacing almost 6,000 tonnes, it is one of the largest motor yachts in the world.[9][12]
Named for the first initial of its owners, Andrey and Aleksandra Melnichenko, its provocative styling has polarized opinions since its launch.[13] It has evoked comparisons with submarines and stealth warships, while commentators have referred to it as the most loved and loathed ship on the sea.[14][15]

In common with many mega yachts, little was known about A when it was first commissioned. Builder Blohm + Voss issued a press release in December 2004 identifying the vessel as Project Sigma,[2] which was how it became most commonly known during its construction.[17] Its length was given as 118 metres (387 ft), a metre short of its final length, while conceptual designer Philippe Starck and lead naval architect Neil Wade were credited personally.[2] Starck was alleged to have taken only three and a half hours to come up with the final shape,[9] whose reverse bow and tumblehome design has drawn parallels with the Zumwalt class of stealth destroyers designed for the US Navy.[11][13][15]
It was also stated in the press release that the owner of mega yacht Pelorus — Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich — was not the customer behind Sigma. Nevertheless, because Pelorus was undergoing a concurrent refit at the same shipyard, and because both projects shared the same management company, there was continued speculation that the two vessels had a common owner throughout A's construction.[15][18][19] Melnichenko was not confirmed as the true owner until after the ship was delivered in July 2008.[11][20]
In interviews for Yachts International and Die Zeit magazines, Starck gave details of the vessel's most innovative features. He described it as a stealth yacht with a very smooth hull design, which left almost no wake at 25 knots (46 km/h; 29 mph).[21][22] Its purity was, he said, a reflection of its owner, a young and brilliant mathematician.[21] (Melnichenko is a reputed math prodigy.)[13] Martin Francis, the boat's technical and naval designer, was also interviewed for Yachts International in 2008, and he too cited the boat's efficiency through the water and its small bow wake as a major innovation.[8] Francis explained that typically the shipyard will do the hull testing, but in A's case a model was built and tested in the Solent estuary early in the design process, long prior to the involvement of any builders.

The reports find that on average, a 100-meter superyacht with a top speed of 25 knots and 50 crew members should cost around $275 million. Considering the 30 largest superyachts are all longer than 100 meters, they can often cost significantly more.
Eclipse: Owned by the Russian billionaire and oligarch, Roman Abramovich, Eclipse is currently the world's most expensive yacht. The vessel was launched in the year 2009 at a developmental cost of over one billion.
A good rule of thumb for a state-of-the-art motor yacht over 100 feet now is $1 million per meter, or more than $50 million for an impressive, but not outlandish, 170-footer.
For crossing the Atlantic Ocean you should aim for a boat that is at least 30-40 feet long. An experienced sailor can do with less. The smallest sailboat to cross the Atlantic Ocean was a 5 by 4 feet sailboat.

Anti Paparazzi systems?
Eclipse is said to have an anti paparazzi system, a laser which is used to detect the electronic light sensors that digital cameras use. The camera is then targeted with a beam of bright light that overexposes the photo, which becomes useless.

Early 2014 Abramovich sold a London mansion for US$ 40 million to Tetra-Pack heir Hans Rausing. In 2014 Abramovich sold Luna to Azerbaijani billionaire Farkhad Akhmedov. Akhmedov acquired his wealth through natural gas producer Northgas, which he sold in 2012.
