'The Privileged' Store in North Korea - Part 1

====================================================
Ok, so this is my 46th video that I uploaded, many people asked me..
How could you upload youtube video in NK?.
He uploads the video after he back to Indonesia, because he didn't dare if he upload directly from NK.
Nope..that is not entirely True..

#jakaparker #northkorea #koreautara

The answer is..

I already back to Indonesia, and currently I live in Indonesia..
My first 23 videos was uploaded when I was in North Korea.

The most different thing that when I uploaded video in NK, for a 15 minute video needed two days to upload, because the internet there was unstable due to electricity on off several times in a day..I can’t subscribe for cellular internet mobile because its way too expensive and..not reliable too...
but..when in Indonesia, I can choose which provider for internet and to upload a 15 minute video need only few minutes...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OK..
back to this video..
I was going to a store which was located inside the Diplomatic Compound in Munsu District, behind Vietnam Embassy (you can check it out in Google Maps)
Sure..because these videos is about my daily life in NK...so I only posted about my routines things that I am doing in NK).

This store named Pyongyang Shop, which only several people who can access inside, only Foreigners and local Korean people who can get permission to be inside Diplomatic Compound (usually Korean people who works for foreign Organisations and embassies).

Btw.. sorry for bad English and Korean..

Any viewers who understand Korean language might be laughing hearing me trying to make conversations with the locals..please pardon me

???? Visit to the Strange Land of North Korea (DPRK)

This is a film about a traveller in the strange land called North Korea or officially the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Tours to the DPRK are tightly scheduled and normally include a visit to the demilitarised zone, museums and statues to Kim Il-Sung and Kim Jong-Il, Pyongyang’s amusements parks, chandelier-laden metro system and showcase entertainment facilities such as the Circus and the SchoolChildren's Palace. In addition to these, I took a flightseeing flight on a Mi-17 helicopter over the DPRK's capital city of Pyongyang. As well, as my tour was an extended one, it also went the northeast of the DPRK to the tri-country area around the Rason Special Economic Zone where the DPRK, China and Russia conjoin.

The cult of the Kims is perhaps the most extraordinary feature of the DPRK. Images or statues of Kim Il-Sung and Kim Jong-Il are found everywhere. These graven images are effectively worshipped. This film shows scenes of the veneration of the Kims (Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il) that were witnessed.

The government guides control both what you can see and also what you can take photographs of. If you take a photograph of the military, construction or something that they feel does not portray the DPRK in a positive light then they force you to delete the photograph. On exiting the country, the border guards also reviewed photographs to see if they conformed to the aforementioned standards. Despite these restrictions, this film contains images that accurately portray the state of the country as I saw it.

I had to fly out of the Pyongyang airport and needed two North Korean guides to take me there. Then when I arrived, the airport was completely empty and I was the only one inside. Bizarre experience with Air Koryo flying me back to Beijing.

I was on a guided tour to North Korea with a company called Young Pioneer Tours. You can book here -
(use code JordDPRK for a free T-Shirt).

This video series is NOT a political commentary. It is only meant to document what it’s like to travel to North Korea (DPRK) in 2019.

I can only show you what I am shown myself.

NORTH KOREA: Upclose Footage of North Korean Life

Journey into North Korea. Upclose footage of North Korean society. Around Pyongyang.

Wolhyang General Store in North Korea - Part 1

Please, READ THE DESCRIPTION!

I visited the WolHyang shop located in WolHyang District, near the Arch of Triumph downtown Pyongyang. The shop is frequently visited by foreign tourists, in this store there are available a variety of souvenirs such as artwork, herbs and so forth. My several visits to the store with my family or while I served as a photographer for several foreign delegations I took them to visit this store. In this store, it is allowed to take pictures and videos. The employees are also friendly and they allowed to take photos together. For this time I tried to take a video, my wife and I want to buy an embroidery painting but the kind of painting that I want is not available then my wife bought some Tea Ginseng. Several waitresses noticed my GoPro camera, but they don’t mind and thought it was a pocket camera.
=====================
Since I came to Pyongyang in November 2012 until I left Pyongyang in March 2016 I got so many experiences.

I just wanna share a bit of my life experience in North Korea, mostly in Pyongyang. We are foreigners (Diplomats, Expatriates) who live in Pyongyang can roam freely around Pyongyang, and diplomats got more privileged than other expatriates.

There are also many Americans (USA), Canadians, Korean American who works as teachers and professors in Pyongyang.

Foreigners can travel to other cities outside Pyongyang, but we must request permission to Ministry of Foreign Affairs of North Korea.

Since I lived in North Korea, I already travel to other cities in Northern, Western, Southern and Eastern side. Sometimes I travel with a minder, sometimes I just drive my car by my own and with my family (without a minder),

#NOTE: I am not a diplomat and didn’t work for embassy.

Pyongyang - North Korea's capital

Inside North Korea (DPRK)

5 days traveling and touring through the unique country of North Korea (DPRK). With visits to Pyongyang, the Mass Games, Kaesong, and the DMZ. GoPro.

Inside DPRK Part I 1990 1996 - Pyongyang and Surroundings under Kim Il Sung & Kim Jong Il

The first part of a unique documentary shot by Dieter SCHMITT while working and living in North Korea for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) between 1990 and 1992 and afterwards traveling to the country on ad-hoc consulting missions. 100% of the footage has been shot by Dieter during his car trips alone without any guide or minder.

Inside of the DPRK (North Korea)

DPRK - Democratic People's Republic of Korea

American Tours North Korea - US citizens are allowed to travel to the DPRK but under certain restrictions. American citizens can visit North Korea during the Mass Games only, can stay a maximum of 4 nights and 5 days and are not permitted to enter or exit the country via train.

An increasing number of foreigners hope for tourism in the DPRK with the tourist season at hand. Visitors are always welcome and their personal safety is surely guaranteed in the DPRK which values international visits, exchange, mutual understanding, cooperation and respect.

The government encourages tourism with a view to strengthening solidarity with peoples of all the countries in the idea of independence, peace and friendship and building a more prosperous and civilized country. The first travel company was established in the country in August Juche 42 (1953) and later the state general bureau of tourism for the development of tourism.

The DPRK became an official member of the World Tourism Organization (WTO) in September 1987. In April 1997 it was officially admitted to the Pacific Area Travel Association (PATA). The state allotted a great amount of fund to building tourist grounds and service facilities at scenic spots.

Hundreds of tourist grounds involve the capital city of Pyongyang, the west sea barrage, a leading lock gate of the world, and such famous mountains as Mt. Myohyang, Mt. Chilbo and Mt. Kuwol. Tourism in the DPRK includes inspection of monumental edifices and historical and cultural relics and remains in Pyongyang and ecological tourism aimed at promoting health and training bodies while resting and vacationing at beautiful and attractive scenic spots.

Tourism also includes medical treatment, the training of Taekwon-do and dance notation, the study of Korean language and the observation of animals and plants. What is noteworthy in this year's tourism is to appreciate 100,000-strong gymnastic and artistic performance Arirang, a masterpiece in the 21st century. Revolutionary opera The Sea of Blood, national opera Tale of Chun Hyang and joint performances of schoolchildren and circus performances are also being prepared.

The state general bureau of tourism is now busy with preparations to meet the increasing demand for tourism. Those who want to witness the peculiar feature of the DPRK vigorously advancing with the might of the single-hearted unity, the climax of fascinating art and the beauty of attractive nature may contact with the state general bureau of tourism.
