Indonesian Street Food - GIANT RAINBOW LOBSTER Sashimi Manado Seafood Indonesia

Spiny lobsters are commonly found in warm seas. They are also known as crayfish in many parts of the world, and can be differentiated from other lobsters by their lack of claws. To fully appreciate the tenderness and natural sweetness of fresh lobster meat, one of the best ways to prepare fresh spiny lobster is sashimi.

Indonesian Seafood - Feast at Wiro Sableng Seafood 212 Restaurant in Jakarta!

Check out my Jakarta Travel Guide for Food Lovers:

When you’re in the Kelapa Gading area of Jakarta and looking for an amazing Indonesian seafood feast, Wiro Sableng Seafood 212 is one of the most famous places of them all. Starting as a small warung, a family local restaurant, the seafood restaurant has grown into one of Jakarta’s most recognized seafood spots. Even Indonesia’s President Joko Widodo frequents the restaurant!

On this day in Jakarta, I jumped in a taxi to get to Kelapa Gading, and since I had a little extra time, my wife and I first stopped at Pempek Palembang & Otak - Otak 161 to try some very famous pempek Palembang, which is a type of fishcake originally from Palmebang in southern Sumatra. I especially liked the original one with an egg in the middle, but I didn't like the grilled fish ball too much.

After Pempek Palembang & Otak - Otak 161, we then walked over to Wiro Sableng Seafood 212 and met up with Leonard and Iyoel to eat seafood. They ordered all the food, and we soon had an incredible Indonesian seafood feast spread on our table. Everything we ate was delicious, but I especially enjoyed the mussels lathered in Padang sauce, and the crab baked in a banana leaf wrapper. And not forgetting the ikan bakar. Ok everything was incredible delicious. Wiro Sableng Seafood 212 is legendary, but it’s for good reason, they serve some incredible food.

After finishing the Indonesian seafood feast at Wiro Sableng Seafood 212, we then drove over to Six Ounces Coffee Shop, for an excellent cup of coffee to finish off lunch.

Big thank you to Leonard and Iyoel for inviting Ying and I to have lunch!

The Best SEAFOOD is at THIS FISH MARKET ???????? | Indonesian Food

Hands down the best fish market in Indonesia, here in Jakarta you buy the fish downstairs and they'll cook it upstairs for you.

You can support my work at where I share tips that don't make it to videos and behind the scenes content.

Good afternoon from Jakarta Bay Indonesia we're at a modern fish market. It is called Pasar Ikan Modern Muara Baru, which means it's a modern fish market it's big. It is very interesting. Only open five years and you can go downstairs you buy directly from the fishermen, you negotiate, haggle directly with them.

You take your goods, your fish, your seafood, and then you go upstairs, and it's like a food court vendor kind of situation. I've never been here, but I think it sounds so interesting. And we're going to go buy some fish and then head upstairs.

All right, so we're in the fish market. We're going to pick out what to eat first, and then we take it upstairs. I think we've decided on we're going to do squid, shrimp and one barbecued fish.
We haven't decided on which fish yet. But here's the thing, you need to have clear eyes you need to have bounce back skin. If I don't see a clear eye I don't want that fish.

When the world shut down I returned to Canada and decided to teach myself video. I wanted to share more than just words and photos but to show people the adventures I have learning about food around the world.

Indonesian Street Food - KNIFE SKILLS Jelly Diamond Fruit Indonesia

Borassus flabellifer, commonly known as doub palm, palmyra palm, tala palm, toddy palm or wine palm, is native to the Indian subcontinent and Southeast Asia, including Nepal, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Laos, Burma, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. It is reportedly naturalized in Pakistan, Socotra, and parts of China.

The top portion of the fruit must be cut off to reveal the sweet jelly seed sockets, translucent pale-white, similar to that of the lychee but with a milder flavor and no pit. The sweet jelly seed sockets occur in combinations of two, three or four seeds inside the fruit. The jelly part of the fruit is covered with a thin, yellowish-brown skin. These are known to contain watery fluid inside the fleshy white body. These seed sockets have been the inspiration behind certain sweets Sandesh called Jalbhara (জলভরা) found in Bengal.

The conventional way this fruit is eaten is when the outer casing is still unripe while the seeds are eaten as the fruit. But if the entire fruit is left to ripen, the fibrous outer layer of the palm fruits can also be eaten raw, boiled, or roasted. When this happens, the fruit takes a purple-blackish hue and tastes similar to a Coconut flesh. The skin is also eaten as part of the fruit similar to how mango skins are often consumed along with the fruit. Bengali People have perfected the art of making various sweet dishes with the yellowish viscous fluidic substance obtained from a ripe palm fruit. These include Mustard oil fried Taler Bora, tastes best when fried in Sunflower oil (তালের বড়া), or mixed with thickened milk to form Taal-kheer (তাল ক্ষীর).
