India To Bhutan Travel Cost In 2023 | Travel Guide | Bhutan Entry Permit For Indians | Immigration
We traveled from India to Thimpu and took the road and it took us 8 hours. Bagdogra to Phuentsholing drive was 3.5 hrs and Phuentsholing to Thimpu drive was 5.5 hrs.
Important Tips for the trip :
1. Guide is mandatory for the Bhutan trip and they can charge from Rs 1000 to 2000 per day depending on the company and itinerary
2. SDF Charge (Rs 1200 per day) is compulsory to enter Bhutan along with Travel Insurance

3. We booked our Innova and cost us 4k one way from Bagdogra to Phuentsholing(one side)

How to plan a Bhutan trip | How to reach | Budget and entry permit for Indians | TIPS AND TRICKS!
Here's a video on how to plan a trip to Bhutan from India, document and permit requirements for staying in Bhutan, the budget, how to reach Bhutan by road, flight and train and some other tips and tricks for travelling to Bhutan.

Some more points to note :
1. Make sure you do the bookings at Jaigaon (which lies in India) or Phuentsholing (which lies in Bhutan connected by the Indian Bhutan border) in advance since the hotel options are limited.
2. Indian currency is accepted everywhere in Bhutan and there is no need to get it exchanged.
3. In addition to the document requirements mentioned in the video, all solo female travellers are required to further give an undertaking taking full responsibility for their safety and address it to the Immigration officer, Immigration office, Bhutan.

Entry to Bhutan from India will no longer be free for Indian tourists since Bhutan Government has made a new rule for Bhutan permit for Indians and has decided to impose a permit fees called the Sustainable Development Fee of INR 1200 per person per day for Indian Tourists. The decision of revoking the exemption for India and two other nationalities came in light after the increasing number of regional tourists start impacting the ecology of Bhutan.

HELLO MY PEOPLE. this is day 3 of our trip , I'm visiting Bhutan by road, we are traveling to arunachal pradesh on the way we are visiting Bhutan for half a day .
you dont need passport or visa for visit less than 3 days . we have explored few places in bhutan hopw you guys enjoy.
if planning for a complete trip more than 3 days -
The nearest airport is Bagdogra airport although you can also fly Druk Airways and land directly at Paro (expensive option) .
1) Photocopy of your identity card - Passport/Voter's ID card
2) An immigration form that is provided at any shop near Immigration office
3) Proof of stay of onward journey (You will need confirmed proof of booking for atleast first night in Thimphu/Paro)
4) One passport size photograph
5) For all solo female travellers - Please write a hand written undertaking stating that you are responsible for your own safety and address it to The Immigration Officer, Immigration office, Phuntsholing Bhutan,
For getting a permit at the earliest, please reach the office at 8:30 am with all your documents and stand in a queue. The office opens at 9:00 am. In my case I got the permit within half hour because I arrived early.

Bhutan being a neighboring country to India is Not a budget country to travel especially from 2022. It's technically a Visa free country however you need to pay a certain cost and take permit to enter Bhutan.
Bhutan government has imposed 1200/- per person per day for citizen of India/Bangladesh/Maldives as Sustainable Development fee.
This is not it , earlier Indian could take their own vehicles and they didn't had to pay anything for it.
From Sept 2022 , if you are willing to drive your own car from India to Bhutan you need to pay 4700/- per day and an additional 600 Rs one time for it.
Guides are compulsory beyond Thimphu and Paro now. Infact, consider taking a guide right from the beginning of your trip. This cost is again 1500-2000 per day.
Taxis and cabs or evening renting a bike is quite expensive now.
From Pheuntsholing to Thimphu you need to pay 3000-3500 for a taxi.
Making is a lot more expensive than earlier
As per our experience and new guidelines it is advisable to book Bhutan trip from a tour operator. That would cost you a little reasonable.

To reach jaigaon, one can take flight till Bagdogra from any part of country and then hire a taxi for 4 hours drive towards jaigaon.

Office Timings - 6 AM To 8 PM, Monday - Saturday

Indians Traveling To Bhutan By Road, Air | How To Get The Permit For Bhutan | New Rules For Indians
There is something so magical about Bhutan. It’s also the happiest country in the world. This place has all the capability to touch your soul with its simplicity. I was fortunate enough to visit it last year. With the new rules coming into picture, now Indians have to pay additional money towards SDF in order to visit Bhutan. So, in this video, I have answered the question How to Plan a Perfect Bhutan Tour from India? in detail. I have talked about all the rules, details about the documents and guidance to help you plan your tour to Bhutan without any hassle:
1. Do you need a Passport to Visit Bhutan?
Not necessarily. If you have a passport then well and good. If not then, Voter ID card will work. Please note that Aadhar Card won’t suffice. You need to have either a passport or a Voter ID card.
2. How to enter Bhutan by road and flight?
Direct flight to Paro (that is Bhutan’s only International airport). You have direct flights from Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati, Mumbai and Bagdogra. Next comes how to reach Bhutan by road and this is even I recommend. You can easily enter Bhutan by road by reaching Jaigaon town in West Bengal. It is 4.3 kms from the border town of Bhutan called Phuentsholing. You can take a flight to Bagdogra and wahan se take private cabs. They charge around INR 2500 for small vehicles and around 3500 Rs for SUVs
3. Can you take an Indian Car to Bhutan?
You can hire cabs in Bhutan but in case you are taking your own car then you will have to obtain a permit for the car from the Regional Transport Office in Phuensholing for a fee of about ng 200.
4. Do you need a Visa?
As an Indian national, you don't need a Visa to enter Bhutan but you would need to take a permit. You can get this permit from the Immigration office in Phuentsholing if you are traveling by road. If you are taking the flight, then the permit can be taken from Paro International Airport. This permit will allow you to stay in the country for 7 days and visit two major cities Paro and Thimphu. Immigration office in Phuentsholing is open from 9-5PM. The entire process can take 2-3 hours’ time. Remember to be patient. A few documents are required:
A. A duly filled form which you can avail at the gate of the Immigration office
B. Copy of your Voter’s ID or Passport
C. An Itinerary of 7 days on an A4 Sheet
D. Hotel booking proof of at least the first night in Bhutan.
E. 2 Passport Size Photographs
F. If you are traveling solo to Bhutan then you would need to submit a letter of undertaking addressed to the Regional Director. This is to declare that you are traveling solo in Bhutan and as a solo traveller, you are responsible for your travel and safety.
6. Do Indians have to pay anything extra to visit Bhutan?
Rules have changed now. Until last year, Indians didn’t have to pay any money but from July 2020, Now, Indians have to pay INR1200/day. This is called SDF, Sustainable Development Fee.
7. How to avail the local Sim Card in Bhutan? How much to recharge for?
You can avail Bhutanese sim card using this permit. You can take it at this office itself. A sim card would cost you 100 and recharge of 299 would be sufficient for 7 days even if you need to use the data pack.
8. How to book an affordable hotel in Bhutan (Thimpu, Paro)?
There are many hotels. On an average, you can spend 1000-1500 for a decent hotel
9. Does Indian currency work in Bhutan?
The Bhutanese currency is equivalent to the value of Indian currency. You can easily use 5,10,20,50,100 Rs Indian notes in Bhutan. However, 500 and 2000 Rs notes are not valid in the country. Don’t rely on the ATM machine as most of the Indian cards might not work in Bhutan.
10. When is the best time to Visit Bhutan?
Other than the Monsoon season, anytime of the year is good to visit Bhutan. However, you can find the best weather from October to December.
11. What to pack for Bhutan?
1. You are required to cover your head and wear full clothes while visiting the place of worship
2. Comfortable shoes and hiking shoes if you are planning to go for the hike/trek
3. Raincoat and umbrella
4. A light jacket or wind-cheater
12. Can you do backpacking in Bhutan?
