The Blue Lagoon is one of Iceland’s most popular attractions. The geothermal waters and black volcanic rocks create startling scenery that is truly unique to Iceland. The water is full of minerals, silica and algae and is especially good for the skin and relaxation. In addition to soaking and swimming in the pool, the Blue Lagoon offers in-water massage treatments, saunas and steam rooms and access to a cafe. A few hours of relaxation soaking in the Blue Lagoon is essential to any Iceland visit, and its location between Reykjavik and the airport makes it an easy addition to any trip.

GEYSER & GULLFOSS WATERFALL | Golden Circle, Iceland

♥♥♥ SUBSCRIBE →

On our way around the Golden Circle, we stop at Haukadalur Valley to see the famous geysers: Strokkur, Fata and “The Great Geysir” (which is what all geyser are named after!). A short ten minute drive led us to Gullfoss Waterfall, which was the windiest place we’ve been to!

Iceland Vlog Day 2 - The road trippin starts here!!
And what a mad and jam-packed day it was!
After waking up early in Ingunn's Guest house, we got all showered and sexy and hit the road in our cosy camper! First stop was The Pingvellir National Park. After a breeze 4 mins there we went on to Kerid Crater which was INSANE to look at! Then we hit up Hrunalaug which is a little secret(ish) geothermal pool just a two minute walk over a hill.. it was lovely and super cosy - we were the only ones there!
After a little soak we headed to the Geysers to see Strokkur going off on one!

After this mentally long day we pulled up at a petrol station, got some hot dogs and parked on some barren land to sleep for the night! Bloody brilliant.

Þingvellir National Park, Iceland

Þingvellir is a place in Bláskógabyggð in southwestern Iceland, near the peninsula of Reykjanes and the Hengill volcanic area. Þingvellir is a site of historical, cultural, and geological importance and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Iceland. It is the site of a rift valley that marks the crest of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. It is also home to Þingvallavatn, the largest natural lake in Iceland.

Transcript:
Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland and only two and a half hours’ flight from Manchester. The Golden Circle is the handful of beautiful natural attractions within easy driving distance from the city.
Hallgrimskirkja is Reykjavik’s most striking landmark. Built in the mid-twentieth century, the towering cathedral was designed to reflect the naturally occurring basalt columns found all over Iceland. Inside the décor is fairly simple, reflecting the church’s Lutheran denomination. But sitting at the highest point in central Reykjavik, its real attraction is the tower, which you can ascend via a lift, for fantastic views across the city. It costs 1000 Icelandic krona, which is about £6. Which seems expensive, but Iceland is definitely not a cheap country.
Harpa dominates the city’s seafront and is the country’s biggest performance space. While there are plenty of shows on offer, the best thing about the concert hall is its interior, which is free to enter and explore. Though impressive in the daytime, the best thing about it is the way it looks at night, when hundreds of colour-changing lights illuminate the building. Creating patterns and waves, the illumination is meant to resemble the Northern Lights… which is the closest we got to seeing them while we were there. We’re not annoyed about that at all. Honestly, we’re not. It’s not like we sat in a ditch in the dark for several hours for five consecutive nights or anything.
When the weather is bad, which it often is, the city offers plenty of museums for you to explore. The best of these is the National Museum Of Iceland that charts the country’s full history and even has a complete nineteenth century peasant’s hut reconstructed inside. I don’t know about you, but I have often wondered how on earth people managed to live in Iceland in the days before central heating. Well, now you know. Entrance costs 1000 krona, which also gets you into the Culture House, which exhibits more of the country’s artistic heritage. There’s also a place where you can leave your name filed in an old cabinet, so if you go, see if ours are still there!
Outside the city and the first stop on the Golden Circle is the Thingvellir National Park. This was literally just around the corner.
Geysir is a geothermal area with steaming bubbling hot pools. But what everyone is there to see is the eruption of the geyser Strokkur. The eruptions happen every six minutes or so and are pretty damn impressive!
The final stop on the Golden Circle is Gulfoss. This powerful waterfall sees 140 cubic metres of water plummet down its two tiers every second. Although three hours drive from Reykjavik, this is by far the easiest waterfall to get to from the city.
No trip to Reykjavik is complete without a visit to the world famous Blue Lagoon. Located about a 45 minute drive from the city, there are buses running fairly regularly to the luxury spa. Although it is man-made, the water is heated geothermally and pumped into the basin from about 2000 metres below the surface. The temperature averages at around 38 degrees centigrade and feels pretty luxurious, even when air temperatures plummet. The spa sells its own range of skin products, but you get a free mud mask when you visit, which is made of naturally occurring silica found at the lagoon. The Blue Lagoon isn’t cheap, setting you back about £75 even for its cheapest package. We made a day of it and fully made the most of our time there. Whether you want to sit in its steam cave, sip Prosecco in the warm blue water or just lounge on the pure white lava, there’s no doubt the Blue Lagoon is the peak of luxury. You come out feeling refreshed, renewed and pampered and it’s got to be experienced to understand why its such an essential part of a trip to Reykjavik.

Amazing Icelandic Waterfalls

We were only here for 4 days but packed so much in. We saw northern lights, went to the Blue Lagoon, toured around the Golden Circle which involved seeing some amazing landscapes, Gullfoss Waterfall and Strokkur Geyser. On a different day we visited Vik the black Sand Beach, Skogafoss Waterfall, Seljalandsfoss Waterfall and hiked to the base of Solheimajokull Glacier.
