Scots Black Watch Homecoming Parade Dundee Scotland April 20th
The Homecoming Parade from the Cowgate for the Royal Regiment in Dundee, Tayside, Scotland on April 20th. Soldiers from the Black Watch 3rd Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, 3 Scots, marching through Dundee. More than 400 soldiers, including Territorials from 7 Scots, took part in the parade led by the Black Watch Pipe Band. The troops had recently returned from a tour of duty in Afghanistan. The troops marched down Cowgate, Panmure Street, Albert Square, Reform Street and Crichton Street.

1st Battalion of The Scots Guards parade Glasgow
SCOTS GUARDS TO PARADE IN GLASGOW
Around 250 soldiers will take part in a homecoming parade in Glasgow after a six month tour of duty in Afghanistan.
The 1st Battalion Scots Guards will march from Holland Street at 11am to George Square taking in West Regent Street, Pitt Street and West George Street.
The Lord Provost will take the Salute on the dais, with the Regimental Lieutenant Colonel, Brigadier Harry Nickerson in George Square.
Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Rob Howieson said, It is a great honour to march through the streets of Glasgow. The Guardsmen are very proud of their work and they are humbled to be able to parade in front of their friends, families and the local community.
The battalion has had a challenging six months in Afghanistan and the parade will recognise its achievement.
The troops, currently stationed in Catterick, North Yorkshire, were deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Herrick 17 between October 2012 and April this year.
The battalion spent the duration of their tour in Helmand Province, where they were deployed to the Upper Gereshk Valley.

1991 USA Military Parade San Francisco - Victory Celebration from the Gulf War
Only recently, in 2024, I found video footage from my USA / California Trip in May 1991 where I observed the Armed Forces day parade in San Francisco, celebrating victory in the Gulf War “Desert Storm” and coming home of the troops
The parade was accompanied by many protests and demonstrations, arrests were made, some can be seen in the video.

A group of Iraqi military trainees marches by us as we prepare to convoy out. (2004) Iraqi troops tended to drop everything they were doing when any of us got out a camera and wanted to be in the pictures. You can see the instructors here looking at me and one even waves. Their marching style is very different from ours, but make no mistake, these men were very proud to have their country back from Saddam and in their own hands. Very friendly.

On Saturday afternoon in Houston, Texas we welcomed our troops home and expressed our thanks. That afternoon the Astros Baseball Team at Minute Maid Park also recognized their sacrifice.
