Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married June 2013 and quickly caught the travel bug! We started “travel hacking” & finally decided we wanted to travel for one year. After 2 years of saving $ and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016. We started this YouTube channel to share our experiences with friends and family, then decided we really liked vlogging and traveling! So we extended our 1 year trip to now FOUR years :) Now we have a goal of traveling to 100 countries before 2020! We are incredibly thankful to do something we love every day. :)

First day in Kurdistan Iraq, ERBIL | EP23
After a week of working in UAE, me and my boyfriend Flo made to the Kurdish part of Iraq. Its capital city of Erbil is an over 6000 years old metropolis especially characterized by its citadel in the middle of the city. Erbil became an integral part of the Assyrian civilization which by today is still hosting ethnic Assyrians in the Kurdistan region.
We decided to stay a couple of days in the city and then do a roadtrip around the region.

Exploring Erbil | Solo in IRAQI KURDISTAN
Getting off the beaten path is the way to go! What an INCREDIBLE place in the world! People thought I was crazy for going to Iraqi Kurdistan but what more can I say. I’m not left speechless often but Iraqi Kurdistan did just that. The hospitality and friendliness of the people here was absolutely amazing! Traveling solo here was a surreal experience that I will never forget! Enjoy the first of this two part series in Iraqi Kurdistan!
And for all those wondering. I felt safer here than I do in the United States!

This was my second time traveling to one of my favorite areas of the world, Iraqi Kurdistan! During my first trip it was amazing to be able to see off the beaten path places like Iraq that are so rich with culture but it was also really lonely. I can now say that I’ve made about 90% of my friendships through social media, one of my best online friends being Drew Binsky. Even though we had never met in person, Drew and I bonded over our love of adventure and our shared goal of traveling to every country. Drew only has 6 countries left and even though the 2020 lockdown has slowed him down, he hasn’t let that stop him sharing more inspiring stories from around the world. Drew and I were coincidentally both in Turkey before we came up with the spontaneously to travel together, for the first time, back to Iraq.
In this video we hit the old city streets of Erbil to try as much street food as possible. After trying everything from kebabs to sour ice cream, we discovered the full range of sweet to sour flavors here in Iraq.

Erbil, Kurdistan ➖ One of the most famous attractions here in Kurdistan is the Erbil Citadel, a 6000-year-old fortified area that was inducted as a World Heritage site in 2014. I decided to check it out and the nearby surroundings to see what it was like living back 6000 years ago, and the architecture that was around at that time.

This is NOT what we expected... | Kurdistan Iraq, Erbil Vlog
In today's episode we are exploring the city of Erbil in Kurdistan Iraq!
Despite the region as a whole having a bad image portrayed in the media, we find the exact opposite to be true. Erbil is vibrant, bustling, but with a laid back feel - and we felt completely safe the entire time! Everyone is friendly, welcoming, and so pleased to see tourists enjoying their city.
We spent a full day walking around the city seeing some of the main attractions, such as:
- Qaysari Bazaar
- Erbil Citadel
- Jalil Khayat Mosque
- Mudhafaria Minaret
That evening we were taken out for dinner and shisha by Sarmad, the captain of the Erbil Bikers. Sarmad was a huge help during our time planning and travelling through Kudistan Iraq - thank you, Sarmad!
Also a big thanks to David and Phil ( for connecting us with Sarmad.
We LOVED Erbil and can HIGHLY recommend it to anyone that has the adventurous spirit to visit this country.
