Old Delhi or Purani Dilli is the most historic part of the greater city of Delhi, India. It was founded as a walled city named Shahjahanabad. It is known for the monuments and numerous bazaars lined with shops selling almost everything ranging from garments, books and jewellery to spices, perfumes and electronics. It is now a city caught between the nostalgia of a bygone age and the haste of modernisation. The chaos that ensues from this polarity is what gives Old Delhi its distinct character. Anubhav considers it to be his second home not only because it has been his prime workplace for nearly a decade but also because it over here he has fostered some cherished connections with the genial locals. And when we think of Old Delhi its lip smacking food scene hogs the limelight.

Today’s video is not about any gastronomic expedition across Old Delhi. Rather it is about the grand wedding feast, colloquially known as Dawat-e-Walima, of Old Delhi’s one of the most loved dessert vendors Danish Bhai from the celebrated Cool Point in Matia Mahal, Delhi-6. We were so glad to be invited to this scintillating celebration that allowed us to get along with some old friends and well wishers that includes the proprietors of some of the legendary eateries in this area and also some of the best Mughlai Chefs from Delhi. It was a full Old Delhi styled feast where all the dishes were part of the quintessential Old Delhi cuisine. Danish Bhai had brought in the best chefs representing the different areas of Mughlai cuisine.

As we had intended to cover the whole feast scene, we reached the venue quite early. At one part of the wedding venue the marquee was being erected and decorated while on the other side food was being prepared on a humongous scale. We first met Imran Bhai and Nayeem Bhai who are a specialist in gravies, curries and biryanis. They were preparing the all time favourite main course dishes Mutton Biryani, Nihari, Kashmiri Chicken and Mutton Korma. We saw how these rich, robust and opulent dishes are prepared. Each one of them tasted heavenly. The deep flavours and aromas from the same is still etched in our memories. Nayeem Bhai and his associates are masters of their craft.

Next was the turn of an array of traditional flatbreads that are an indispensable part of Old Delhi’s cuisine. The bread maker was again a renowned baker from Okhla. The sight and smell of the tandoor baked bread made us restless. We were fascinated by the dexterity of these bakers who were speedily doling out these fresh stuffs with such mastered ease.

Finally the venue was ready for the guests and food was all set. For the starters there were the iconic chicken and fish fry that was being prepared by the team from Haji Mohammed Fried Chicken Shop. This humble fried thing was so irresistible. The joy of eating this delicacy multiplied when Haji Bhai himself joined us in the feast. Sharing a plate of fried chicken and halwa paratha was such a cherished opportunity. We wrapped up our eating spree with a luscious serving of Shahi Tukda and Kheer that came from the bridegroom’s workshop followed by an evitable Paan. What an ecstatic time we had at this wedding reception bonding with our friends from Old Delhi and tasting the best Mughlai dishes. We thanked Danish Bhai for the arrangements and also extended our greeting to him for the occasion.

UNSEEN MITHILA FEAST in Bihar I Tilkor + Arikanch + Bagiya + chura dahi + sajmani + sarso machh

► Subscribe to Delhi Food Walks:

► More street food in Bihar:

Maithil cuisine is a culinary style which originated in Mithila, a region of the Indian subcontinent, which comprises many districts of Bihar. Mithila is famous for its Paan, Maach and Makhaan culture. Here the cuisine is characterised by native ingredients and rustic cooking techniques.

Talking about the food traditions of Mithila, we saw that community feasts also called Bhoj is a common thing. Almost every religious ceremony is accompanied by one or more community feasts where people from the locality come together to enjoy lunch or dinner. Food is served on banana or lotus leaves and is eaten by sitting on the ground in dedicated rows.

During our Bihar food exploration we got the opportunity to attend a Maithli bhoj bhaat in Darbhanga that was organized by our gracious host Sri Manikant Jha ji. We started our journey from Muzaffarpur where we first polished off some chura dahi for breakfast and then left for Darbhanga on a bus.

After alighting at Darbhanga, we took a rickshaw ride to Manikant Ji's home which was abuzz with family members and guests. There we received a warm welcome by the family and we also met Dr. Jay Prakash Chaudhary, a notable Maithili poet who writes and presents humorous poems.

After a brief chat with him we visited the cooking area where the ladies of the family both young and old were busy preparing the elaborate meal. At one part of the courtyard some snacks items were being prepared, on another part the main course and at some other corner fish delicacy was being cooked. Once the snacks were done we tried them. This included misti and namkeen makhan, pochua, chawal ke atte ki roti with chutney and malpua. Soon after we joined the ladies for the preparation of the main course to understand the ingredients and cooking process. With such great enthusiasm and effortless coordination, in no time the food was ready.

A particular area of the open courtyard was readied for seating. As per the tradition, the spread was first offered to the Almighty and was then taken away to be served. We joined Manikant ji, some of his family members and guests for the feast. The enormous spread that was served in a set sequence was overwhelming. There was rice, dal, fritters, fried treats, differently flavoured mash, chutneys, saag, fish curry, curd and sweets. It was such a special feeling to enjoy the meal over light hearted communication. What a gratifying opportunity it was to discover about the Maithili cuisine over here.

Best OLD DELHI FOOD Walk l Butter & Chicken + Karanchi & Sohan Halwa + Mango icecream & Shahi Tukda

► Subscribe to Delhi Food Walks:

In today's episode we are out on an Old Delhi food tour with a celebrity chef to introduce her ultimate Delhi street food. She is London based celebrity chef and restaurateur Dipna Anand. It was our first food walk at our favourite food destination after almost a year of prolonged lockdown. Both Chef Dipna and we were excited about the prospect of the gastronomic experience.

We started our journey from Chandni Chowk which had recently undergone a facelift that looks so amazing. There seems to be less chaos because of the absence of four wheelers. A quick rickshaw ride took us to Shiv Mishran Bhandar in Kucha Ghasiram. This place is known for their ghee fried jalebis and bedmi puri. After trying her hand in making some jalebis, Chef Dipna tried it along with the hot bedmi puris. The jalebis were a clear winner of the two.

Next destination was Hemchand Ladli Prashad whose milk cake is the best in the city. Made with just milk and sugar, the dense, granular, optimally sweet and slightly caramelised fudge-like sweet sent her in raptures.

From there we headed to another iconic and notably the best sweet shop in the locality i.e. Chaina Ram Sindhi Halwai. It is renowned for its formidable age, delightful assortment of sweets and snacks and extreme popularity with both locals and tourists. Here we made her try the sev badam, kaju katli, coconut burfi and their signature Karachi halwa. Chef Dipna was amazed at the sheer brilliance of these sweets.

Then we took a battery rickshaw ride and reached the Old Kheer Shop in Chawri Bazar. As the name suggests, this old shop dates back to 1880. They serve an incredibly delicious plain kheer whose seemingly easy recipe is a secret. It's creamy and rich taste simply spellbound her.
After the surfeit of sweets we headed to the legendary Aslam Chicken to try their butter chicken which is a scary yet irresistible dish containing grilled chicken sitting in a pool of spiced butter. Chef Dipna loved its gratifying taste with roomali rotis.

Finally we ended the tour with another very popular and unique dessert that is the sahi tukda from Cool Point. The refreshingly chilled mango ice cream just enhanced the taste of the hot sahi tukda to another level. The unusual combination was a revelation for Chef Dipna. It was truly a wonderful evening full of gustatory indulgences and stories.

Village Food in Pakistan - BIG PAKISTANI BREAKFAST in Rural Punjab, Pakistan!

SUBSCRIBE for 2 new videos every week
T-shirts and caps:
Thank you to Ali (Pakistan Travel Market):

Day 4 in Pakistan - Watch the entire series in order here:

Not far from Gujranwala we continued to Kot Yousaf, a small community village, still in Punjab, Pakistan. We were invited by the Bagdi family to enjoy a home cooked local (desi) breakfast - I didn’t know what to expect, but it turned out to be an amazing breakfast where the entire community came together.

But first:

You’ve already heard me saying “desi ghee” many times in previous videos in Pakistan. But desi is commonly used, even for “desi food.” But what does it mean? Here’s the definition:

Desi -
1. local; indigenous
2. unadulterated or pure

When you say desi ghee, it means clarified butter that is locally sourced, and it’s one of the most important ingredients in Punjabi food in Pakistan. It’s used in so many dishes, and it usually comes from buffaloes.

It was an amazing opportunity and experience to watch the community in the village an impressive Punjabi food breakfast. The main dishes we had were a variety of different parathas, chickpeas, and saag - a local wild spinach simmered down, and one of my personal favorite dishes in Pakistan. It was awesome to watch them make the food before we ate, and a huge thank you to all the amazing people who prepared it.

Tent pegging - After breakfast we had the special opportunity to watch tent pegging, a sport where one rides a horse, and spears a peg in the ground while racing by. It’s more than a sport, it’s an art, and it’s been a part of Pakistani culture since ancient times.

Thank you to everyone who hosted me and gave me so much hospitality and generosity. It was an amazing day in Pakistan!

Thank you to Ali (Pakistan Travel Market) and Saim who arranged and planned our day in Gujranwala.

Biryani for 2,000!! | HUGE INDIAN FOOD Celebration - Malabar Coast, Kerala, India!

????Street Food in Kerala:
????Ebbin’s Channel:
????T-shirts and caps:

The biryani ended up being for 2,000, maybe even 2,500 people!

KANNUR, KERALA - Welcome to the Malabar Coast of Kerala, India, a place of friendly people, warm weather, and hospitable people.

Thanks to our friend Roshan from Seashell Haris Beach Home ( in Kannur, Kerala, India, we were invited to attend a housewarming celebration.

A housewarming is a big event - it’s a time when the family officially moves into a new home, offers a blessing, for the house and the people, and amazing Indian food is served.

We arrived early in the morning to see all the cooking of the biryani. The chefs were amazing, master of fire, and ratios. No recipes are used in their cooking, it’s just experience, and the knowledge of ingredients and method. I was impressed at how the head chef knew all the ingredients, and how much of what to be added where, all while keeping track of all the different dishes prepared.

After the first preparation of the biryani, we then enjoyed breakfast - Kerala style “chicken parts,” curry. Including chicken parts and ovary eggs, it was outstanding.

Later, in the middle of the day, the housewarming biryani celebration began. Guests started arriving, all lining up for a taste of this special Malabar Coast, Indian biryani.

Thalassery Biryani (Malabar Biryani) - Much different from any other biryani I’ve had anywhere else in India or the world, the rice in Thalassery Biryani just melts in your mouth and goes down so easily. It was so moist and juicy, and the flavor and spices were perfect.

Having the privilege to attend a housewarming Indian food celebration in Kerala was truly an honor. Thank you to the family who hosted us, and wishing you all the best.

Thanks to Ebbin Jose who helped arrange our amazing trip in Kerala. Check out his videos on Food N Travel:

Delhi Food Tour - The Culinary Melting Pot (Tibetan + Israeli + Afghani + Lebanese + Bengali Food)

Come along with us as we take you on a food filled journey of some of the tastiest cuisines Delhi has to offer. We were joined by a fellow foodie Mr. Richard Bennett.

First Stop - Majnu ka Tila
This place is a small tibetan settlement in north Delhiand is jam packed with some amazing eateries. At any given corner you will manage to find a person selling Laphing, a thick noodle dish that is either served cold or in a hot soup. Then for the most popular Tibetan snack we landed at Ama Restaurant for the humble Momos.

Second Stop - Delhi University, North Campus
A day in the life of a DU student usually begins with a lip smacking cup of sweet sweet chai! And there is no place better than Sudama Tea Stall for some super strong and super sweet tea.
Then just because you're in Delhi, a plate of chhole bhature wouldn't hurt. We visited the most well known places in the area - Chache di Hatti or popularly known as Chacha ke Chhole Bhature, for some incredible food.

Third Stop - Paharganj
Paharganj has a number of hidden eateries that serve amazing food. One of them is Brown Bread Bakery. They serve a variety of Indian, German, Italian and Israeli cuisine. We tried the Israeli Thali which was like a mini mezze platter.

Fourth Stop - Connaught Place
Most Delhiites, at least once in their lifetime would have visited the age old bakery shop - Wengers. Running since the 1920s, this place is known for its outstanding patties, pastries and cakes. We tried the melt-in-the-mouth shammi kabab and Rum pastry.

Fifth Stop- Meherchand Market
A little situated in this market is known for serving pizzas at super reasonable rates. We obviously went for the simple and tasty Margherita, a simple combination of dough, sauce and cheese, just fantastic!

Sixth Stop - Defence Colony
We made a stop in Defence Colony, because this is one place you just cannot miss, for some Indo-Lebanese food or simply put Shawarma. Concept Shawarma is a popular food joint serving
perfectly spiced shawarma rolls with dollops of mayonnaise and mint chutney.

Seventh Stop - Lajpat Nagar
Here we enter the little Kabul. We made a stop for some amazing Afghan Sambosa which are stuffed with minced meat. Unlike the Indian samosa these are rectangular shaped and topped off with sesame seeds. We also tried some fresh naan that baked in tandoor.

Eighth Stop - C.R. Park
A little stroll in C.R. Park can take you to the beautiful streets of Kolkata. We visited the fish market to see some of the freshest fish and huge variety of it. Obviously, then we went on to
have some mishti doi. Finally we ended our journey with a good old paan.
