In the final episode of the two part Indore Food Tour series, we bring you our memorable gastronomic explorations from 56 Dukaan and Sarafa Bazaar in Indore, the commercial capital of central India and the city of foodies. 56 Dukan is a lane that has 56 different eateries serving various popular street food fares. Sarafa Bazar on the other hand is Indore’s most prominent jewelry market that transforms into a vegetarian food haven after sundown. This video is a compilation of some of the most popular eateries from these two places.

We start with the eateries at Chappan Dukan street. Our first stop here was Vijay Chat House. We tried two of their most popular snacks, Batla Kachori and Khopra Patties. The former is peas stuffed kachori while the latter one is a one of its kind snack that is available in Indore or to be precise at Vijay Chat House only. The coconut stuffed potato patty was crisp and moreish.

The second stop was Madhuram Sweets whose Shikanji is very popular. This one is not at all, not even remotely, the Shikanji or lemonade that we are familiar with. Here it refers to a luscious milk drink made with Rabri, buttermilk and spices. It’s a signature delicacy of this sweet shop.

Our third halt was Johny Hot Dog an eatery that is hugely popular with the locals, especially the young crowd for its delectable and affordable snacks like hotdogs, egg benjo etc. We ordered their bestseller Egg benjo and Veg Hot dog. The former is a simple yet interesting dish consisting of spicy omelette stuffed buns. The use of desi ghee in the preparation gave its taste a different dimension. The veg hot dog was decent too.

As evening ushered in, the jewelry market of Sarafa bazaar got transformed into a food haven with innumerable vendors thronging the place. In no time, the glitter from the gold ornaments gives way to the enchanting sights of mouth watering snacks.

We began our binge from the iconic Joshi ke Dahi Vade whose owner Joshi Ji was no less than a sorcerer. He has this unbelievable skill of flinging the Dahi Vada plates into the air without spilling a drop and also sprinkling five different spices in one go. He is also an eloquent person whose sweet talks will win your heart. His Dahi vada was quite decent, especially the curd which was super smooth and luscious. This place is a must try.

Then we went on to try the Indore famous Bhutte ki Kees and Garadu from the stall named A-1 Garadu. This place is hugely famous for these two playful treats. We tried them for the first time and we loved them.

Our next food stop was Sawariya ke Khichdi food stall whose Sabudana kichdi is very famous among the locals. The mildly spiced Sago khichdi along with the toppings of spicy sev was quite appetising.

Next was the time for some sweets and so we visited the Jai Bhole Jalebi Bhandar to relish the humongous Jaleba which is nothing but a toothsome extra large saffron flavoured Jalebi. We thoroughly loved the contrast of hot jaleba with chilled Rabri.

To digest all the food we that we have been binging on since the morning, we decided to have a glass of lemon soda from Jai Bhole Soda. The fizzy drink gets extra frothy when the owner at the stall mixes some secret spices into the lemon soda.

From there we headed to Nima Kulfi, a highly recommended place at Sarafa bazar. Apart from the sensational kulfi, the genial owner was all decked up in gold ornaments.

Our penultimate halt was Naveen Coconut Crush stall where we tried the healthy and refreshing drink called the coconut crush. The concoction had a milky taste that came from the flesh of the coconut.

We wrapped up this food trail with a brilliant Paan from Anna Pan Shop.

Indore STREET Food Tour - BEST Rasgulla in India + BAKED Samosa + LAL BALTI Kachori + Usal Poha 1/2

► Subscribe to Delhi Food Walks:

► More Street Food in Madhya Pradesh:

Indore is a city that prides itself for food. The street food here is heavily influenced by the neighbouring states of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra. The diverse street food culture here is a testimony of the food crazy locals and also the quintessential Indori ingenuity that is visible in the quintessential dishes found here. In this episode we bring you some of the wide variety of must try delicacies from different pockets of the city.

Our first stop was Head Sahab ke Pohe, where we tried the Usal Poha or poha served with a spicy chole and other accompaniments. It was quite spicy yet zesty. Even in the rainy weather people had thronged the place to enjoy a plate.

The second stop was Rasgulla house, a place enormously famous in Indore for their softest and yummiest rasgullas. It is run by an enthusiastic and agile granny who proudly showed us the process of making rasgulla. Watching the tiny cottage cheese balls puffing up into spongy and bouncy delectable spheres was a thing of joy. They were irresistible that I had to stop myself at 4 only because we had the whole food trail to complete.

After this we headed to Ghanshyam Chaat House to gorge on some big sized gol gappas. The ones that you get here are bigger than the cavity size of your mouth and stuffing inside along with the spiced water makes it more difficult to handle it but it's fun to devour it. The masala and the water were perfectly zesty. We also tried the dahi puchna which was a fountain of flavours.

From there we headed on to try the unique corn ladoos from Sharma Ji’s cart. Made from dried and desiccated fresh corn paste, this sweetmeat is both delicious and filling. Tastewise it resembles the besan ke ladoo, a seasonal fare that one should try.

We then went to Sindh Bakery, a very special bakery run by a gentleman who is immensely fond of old hindi songs and the stalwarts who sang them. This place has the best bakery items in the city. We loved their rusk and baked samosas. The samosas were more like puff pastries. Do pay a visit to this place for the irresistible sight and aroma of various traditionally baked cookies, biscuits, puffs etc, old music and endearing company and stories.

Next stop was Sri Krishna Gujrati Kadhi and Fafda, a place famous for Fafda and Kadhi. The combination was decent although among the two we liked fafda the most.

Soon it was the turn of some luscious Kaju shake. It was a simple yet divine concoction of milk, cashew paste and sugar. It’s a must try place for thandais.

From there we went to another popular spot, the Lal balti kachori shop. The potato stuffed kachoris were quite decent but what made them special and delicious was a super spicy chilli chutney coriander chutney.

Next was the turn of popular veg hot dog from Lala Chat Bhandar. The crisp pan-fried buns smeared with chutney and stuffed with chole, paneer slices, potato patty, onions sev etc was zesty and very appetising.

Our final stop for the day was the iconic Lakshinanayan Doodhwala. This place is hugely popular for their flavoured milk. Apart from the hot luscious milk drink, another noteworthy thing about this place is the humongous Karai or pan in which the milk is boiled. It is deemed as the largest pan in the whole state. With this we wrapped up our first day at Indore. Apart from the food this place has also earned laurel for being the cleanest city in India.

The fizzy drink gets extra frothy when the owner at the stall mixes some secret spices into the lemon soda. Our penultimate halt was to try the healthy and refreshing drink called the coconut crush. The concoction had a milky taste that came from the flesh of the coconut. Also the famous Jamun shots. There are numerous stalls that sells shots of different fruits. A must try when in Sarafa. Now it was time to head to check out the eateries at Chappan Dukan street. Our first stop Johny Hot Dog an eatery that is hugely popular with the locals, especially the young crowd for its delectable and affordable snacks like hotdogs, egg benjo etc. We ordered their bestseller Egg benjo and Veg Hot dog. The former is a simple yet interesting dish consisting of spicy omelette stuffed buns. The use of desi ghee in the preparation gave its taste a different dimension. The veg hot dog was decent too. Later we proceeded to have some mouth watering panipuri. Lastly, I wanted to try Soya Chaap which is quite popular in Delhi and have heard a lot about it. So, we ordered Tandoori Soya Chaap and it was delicious. While returning to our hotel we were so full.

Sarafa Bazar Indore | Indore Vlog | EP - 3 | Night food market | Indore street food |

Hi I am ARUL SAINI welcome to my YouTube channel findmeonroads.

The market originated as the central jewellery market in the city of Indore. Located 2 Kilometers from Indore's central marketplace Rajwada, Sarafa was the central trading point for jewellery, artefacts and ornaments. Due to its location and a large number of commuters and tourists, street food vendors started putting stalls and selling fast-food, snacks and chaat. Eventually, street food vendors were allowed to put stalls after 8 PM (after jewellery market closes) until morning. Sarafa is also the place of origin of Bada Sarafa Cotton Association, Indore and Madhya Pradesh Sarafa Association.

Tawa - word in hindi means Plate. Hence comes the name, as the machine offers a cold plate (usually circular) which allows the server to prepare live ice cream with fresh fruits/flavors right in front of the customer as per his/her needs.
