Queenstown, New Zealand is known as the adventure capital of the world, and for good reason! Nestled in the heart of the Southern Alps on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, Queenstown offers visitors breathtaking scenery and a wide range of thrilling activities. In this video, we'll be sharing some of the best things to do in Queenstown, New Zealand.

First on our list is bungee jumping. Queenstown is the birthplace of commercial bungee jumping, and you can experience this adrenaline-pumping activity at the Kawarau Bridge, which is the world's first commercial bungee site. You can also try the Nevis Bungy, which is the highest bungee jump in New Zealand, or the Ledge Bungy, which allows you to jump from a platform suspended 400 meters above Queenstown.

If you're a fan of winter sports, Queenstown is a must-visit destination. The city has four major ski fields, including Coronet Peak, which is only a 20-minute drive from the city center. You can also try your hand at snowboarding, snowshoeing, or even ice climbing.

For a more laid-back activity, take a scenic cruise on Lake Wakatipu. You can relax on board and take in the stunning scenery, or get off at one of the stops along the way and explore the local area. You can also take a ride on the iconic TSS Earnslaw steamship, which has been cruising on the lake for over 100 years.

For a bird's eye view of Queenstown, take a gondola ride up to the Skyline Queenstown complex. From here, you can enjoy panoramic views of the city and the surrounding mountains. You can also take a thrilling ride on the Skyline Luge, which is a gravity-driven karting experience.

If you're a Lord of the Rings fan, don't miss the chance to visit some of the film's iconic locations. You can take a tour of the filming locations, including the Misty Mountains and the Pillars of the Kings, or visit the Weta Workshop, which created many of the film's props and costumes.

Last but not least, foodies will love the vibrant dining scene in Queenstown. The city has a wide range of restaurants and cafes, serving everything from traditional New Zealand cuisine to international dishes. Be sure to try some of the local specialties, such as venison, lamb, and seafood.

In conclusion, Queenstown is a city that offers a unique blend of natural beauty, adventure, and culture.

Queenstown New Zealand ???????? 4K HDR Walking Tour Tāhuna Neuseeland Nouvelle-Zélande 2023

Queenstown is a resort town in Otago in the south-west of New Zealand's South Island. It has an urban population of 15,800.
The Queenstown-Lakes District has a land area of 8,705 square kilometres not counting its inland lakes Hāwea, Wakatipu, and Wānaka. The region has an estimated resident population of 49,500. Queenstown is known for its commerce-oriented tourism, especially adventure and ski tourism.

When is the best time to visit Queenstown?
Queenstown is a year-round destination, however July - September is best if you want to hit the slopes while you’re here. Summer is great for water sports and having picnics by the lake, while Spring and Autumn offer moderate temperatures, good hiking and cycling conditions and views with snow-capped mountains.

How do I get to Queenstown?
Queenstown Airport is well serviced by flights from throughout New Zealand, as well as international flights from Australia. The airport is only 10-minutes from central Queenstown by car and also has frequent bus connections.
Queenstown is a scenic five-hour drive from Christchurch and is around 3.5 hours from Dunedin.

Is Queenstown expensive to visit?
Compared to the rest of New Zealand, Queenstown is a relatively expensive place to visit. Accommodation costs are higher than in the rest of the country and activities can be expensive. However, food and wine costs are comparable to other New Zealand cities and ultimately, how much you spend does depend on how you choose to travel.

How many days should I spend in Queenstown?
As long as you like! You'll never run out of things to do in Queenstown. If you're pressed for time, you will probably want to dedicate at least three days to the area. This gives you enough time to see the major sites, do some activities, and sample the local food and wine. If you want to spend some time on the slopes or do longer hikes or bike rides, you probably want to budget a couple more days.

The Perfect 3 Days in Queenstown | New Zealand Travel Guide

The Remarkables - Queenstown, New Zealand

The Remarkables are a spectacular mountain range and ski field in stunning Queenstown, New Zealand. You can see The Remarkables when you're out and about in Queenstown but did you know you can go right up it too (even if you don't ski or snowboard)?

There are other things to do at The Remarkables other than snow sports and it's well worth a visit just for the magnificent views up on the mountain.

If you're driving up, make sure you check the snow/weather report online before heading up The Remarkables. It will let you know all the current conditions and whether snow chains are required for your vehicle too:

We went in winter and it was pretty muddy at the carpark. If you're planning on doing the scenic activities we did, be sure to dress warm (warmer than we did at least with some gloves, thermals and beanies) and make sure you wear sunscreen plus take water with you.

Check out Entranced by Wilderness' blog post for a successful hike to see beautiful Lake Alta frozen over:

Fergbaker is right next to the famous Fergburger and it's open 7 days as week. You'll find delicious baked goodies as well as hot and cold drinks there too.

Fergbaker
Address: 40 Shotover Street, Queenstown 9300
Hours: Open everyday 6am–2am (sometimes 4am)

Wanaka & Blue Pools Vlog! Clearest Water In New Zealand? | Queenstown Ep 5 of 5

We’re back tracking to Haast Pass to see the Blue Pools Wanaka, with a stop to check out That Wanaka Tree. It’s our final vlog from this Queenstown series and we’re leaving New Zealand soon... Unlock our full Queenstown guide for over 50 more recommendations and a map view to take on the go: ⬇ Read More Below ⬇

*Our full Queenstown guide will make sure you:*
→ Save weeks of your life aimlessly researching
→ Have 10x more recommendations than what we mentioned in this video guide
→ Get instant access to years of local knowledge
→ Know the best things to do, where to eat & drink and the best places to stay
→ Have a digital map of all locations (including opening hours)
→ Travel with a mobile guide and app you can open on-the-go
→ And ultimately have an amazing and stress-free holiday!
→ Take a look here:

On our big New Zealand road trip last year we drove the West Coast and through the Haast Pass knowing full well there was lots to see and do - the most popular being the Blue Pools. Though often called the Blue Pools Wanaka, they're actually on the Haast Pass drive and part of Mount Aspiring National Park — but often people do what we did, driver from Queenstown or Wanaka back to check them out.

The Blue Pools has a super popular walking track as well, though in this case the walk is short and the reward is incredible! This is some of, if not THE, bluest and clearest water we've ever seen in New Zealand.

Also in this vlog is breakfast in Wanaka at Scroggin before a walk down to lake Wanaka, which has hopefully topped up somewhat now since our visit. The attraction in Wanaka lots of people go to see is That Wanaka Tree, though you can see from the vlog our viewing was just a tree without the lake surrounding it, but still looking stunning and unique out there all alone.

That's a wrap on these Queenstown vlogs and before we collect our new pup we're off to both the Cook Islands and Australia to share some international adventures finally!

Special thanks to New Zealand tourism for the Lake Wanaka footage showing That Wanaka Tree in it's full glory!

An Ultimate Winter's Day in Queenstown, NZ

Winter in Queenstown is all about skiing, adventure and plenty of good times with your mates. From hitting the slopes in the morning, getting your adrenaline fix in the afternoon and chasing an action-packed day up with our vibrant après ski scene, you can cram a whole of fun into one day.

Plan your ultimate winter's day in Queenstown:

Stunning Queenstown to Glenorchy, New Zealand

Glenorchy is only about 45 minutes from Queenstown and both of these places in the South Island of New Zealand are absolutely stunning. This is vlog 1 of our latest 7 part South Island, NZ road trip series.

The first scenic stop was Bennetts Bluff Lookout which is along the drive between Queenstown to Glenorchy.

The Glenorchy Scenic Lagoon walkway is best done on a sunny day. We took the southern circuit loop. You'll find the start of the walk towards the right hand end when facing the Glenorchy red boat shed.

Glenorchy Lagoon Walkway
Address: 160 Glenorchy-Paradise Road, Glenorchy 9372

Our Airbnb accommodation in Queenstown was located about halfway between Frankton and Queenstown City Centre. A clean, comfy, private stay for the two of us right opposite Lake Wakatipu with beautiful mountain views.

Iain's Airbnb:

For dinner we ate at a Korean restaurant in Queenstown called I Love Kimchi. A nice cosy setting. We really enjoyed their hot stone bowl beef bibimbap.
