I-Witness: Ang Simbahan ng San Rafael, a documentary by Jay Taruc (full episode)

The San Rafael Church is believed not only to be a spiritual haven for the faithful but also as a refuge for restless souls.

There are reported sightings of ghost children playing, a kneeling nun, and other entities who wander the grounds of the church and the adjacent convent.

This is the fourth documentary in I-Witness' Lockdown series where Jay Taruc and his team, together with some experts, investigate reported hauntings to shed light on supernatural mysteries.

BOOKS ABOUT ISRAEL BY TODD FINK:

Israel . . . Land of the Bible . . . Land of Faith . . . the Holy Land, revered throughout recorded history as the cradle of monotheistic religion. For a person of faith whose beliefs are rooted in the Bible, there is no place on earth like the Holy Land. In this narrow strip of land lies the source of religious belief of much of mankind. Here, amongst the barren hills and fertile plains, man’s spirit learned to soar and from here a new message went out to all the world: “. . . and many peoples shall come, and say, “Come, let us go up to the Mountain of the Lord, to the House of the God of Jacob; that He may teach us His ways and that we may walk in His paths. For out of Zion (Hill next to Jerusalem) will go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem (Isaiah 2:3,4).
The unique factor about the Holy Land is its special location in the World. Situated as it is, straddling the divide between Africa and Asia, the area has almost always been a battleground. Wave after wave of conquerors poured into it, anxious to control the strategic trade routes linking the centers of the ancient world. It’s not by accident that it’s virtually in the center of the world. In God’s master plan of creation, He decided to place Israel exactly in the center of His creation. Located on a tiny land bridge between Africa and Asia, there is no other way to get between the two of them except through Israel. It’s located on the crossroads of the world. Whoever wanted to trade between the two continents, or control the known world, had to conquer and control Israel. For this reason, there have been more wars and events that have taken place in Israel than any other country on earth. God positioned Israel in its unique location in order to influence the world and be on “Center Stage” so all of creation would know that He alone is God.
For nearly 2,000 years, Christian visitors from all over the world have come to the Holy Land, the land of their spiritual heritage. With Bible in hand, they have walked the places Jesus walked and prayed in the places He preached and prayed. For Christians, Israel is a place like no other. It provides them a one of a kind opportunity to experience the land of the Bible, to deepen their faith, and to be spiritually transformed for a lifetime.

Holyland Trip Vlog - Day 8 - JERUSALEM, BETHLEHEM (EP 08)

EP.08: We continued our journey by visiting some places in the old city such as Pool of Bethesda, St.Anne's Church, Via Dolorosa and Church of the Holy Sepulchre, The Western Wall, Jericho and Bethlehem before ended our night with having dinner in Indonesian restaurant.

- Pool of Bethesda
It's been identified as the scene of one of Jesus’ miracles. This was the healing of the paralysed man who had waited for 38 years for someone to help him into the pool “when the water is stirred” an event believed to have curative powers. (John 5:2-18)
- The Church of St Anne
The best-preserved Crusader church in Jerusalem. It marks the traditional site of the home of Jesus’ maternal grandparents, Anne and Joachim, and the birthplace of the Virgin Mary.
- Via Dolorosa (Way of Sorrows)
There are 14 Stations of the Cross as they identify with the suffering of Jesus on his way to crucifixion. This is also the name of the principal street they follow, a narrow marketplace abustle with traders and shoppers, most likely similar to the scene on the first Good Friday. Today’s Via Dolorosa originated in pious tradition rather than in certain fact, but it is hallowed by the footsteps of the faithful over centuries.
- The Western Wall
the place where Jews down the ages have expressed their grief over the destruction of the Temple, their anguish giving the wall another name — the Wailing Wall. But the wall is also a place for celebrations, especially of Bar and Bat Mitzvahs (coming-of-age ceremonies for Jewish sons and daughters).
- Mount of Temptation
Traditionally regarded as the mountain on which Jesus Christ was tempted by the devil during his 40-day fast.
- Jericho
It’s reputed to be the oldest town on earth, with stories to match. The Israelites supposedly brought down its walls with a great shout and trumpet blasts. Here Jesus healed Bartimaeus, the blind beggar, and dined with Zacchaeus, the rich tax collector. And both Cleopatra and Herod the Great coveted this lush oasis.
- The Dead Sea
It is set in the lowest dry land on earth, so it has no outlet. It is so loaded with minerals that no fish can live in it. It is so dense that bathers can lie back on its surface and read a newspaper. It is located about 25km east of Jerusalem, along the border between Israel and Jordan. About half of it is actually in Jordanian territory.
- Bethlehem
The West Bank city of Bethlehem, about 9km south of Jerusalem, is celebrated by Christians as the birthplace of Jesus Christ.
- Church of the Nativity
Entering the church that marks the site of Jesus Christ’s birthplace means having to stoop low. The only doorway in the fortress-like front wall is just 1.2 metres high.
- The Shepherds Field
Caves where shepherds “kept watch over their flock” still abound in the area east of Bethlehem. Here, the Gospel of Luke tells us, an angel announced the birth of Jesus.
