50 THINGS TO DO IN NEW YORK CITY | Top Attractions Travel Guide

Our recent week in New York City was an action-packed one. We decided to set ourselves a challenge to see and do as much as we possibly could, and that gave way to this travel video guide which highlights 50 of the top attractions. In a city like New York this means we barely scratched the surface, but hopefully this video will highlight the cornucopia of possibilities that is the Big Apple.

Most journeys begin at Penn Station or Grand Central, and if you arrive at the later you'll be wowed by the building. The Meatpacking District was once home to markets, slaughterhouses, and packaging plants, but times have changed. Today you'll find a mixture of trendy restaurants, clubs and boutiques. The Village used to be a bohemian neighborhood that drew artists and musicians, but today you're more likely to find upper middle class families living here. Completed in 1883, Brooklyn Bridge is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the United States. Williamsburg has become popular given its lower rent prices. University students and young professionals have been flocking to this part of town.
You can walk along the riverfront for a great view of the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges and the Manhattan skyline. During the summer months, Bryant Park also becomes a popular hangout spot people looking to relax and even work on their tans. The Staten Island Ferry is free of charge and this makes it really popular with visitors who want to catch a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty from a distance. Battery Park is located on the southern tip of Manhattan. Having both lived in South Korea, we were thrilled to come across Manhattan's own Little Korea. Coney Island is all about good old fashioned fun. The Cloisters will make you feel like you've travelled over to Europe. Central Park is massive and there are so many places to visit within its boundaries. We managed to visit Belvedere Castle, the Great Lawn, Shakespeare Garden, The Ramble, The Jackie Onassis Reservoir, the Alice in Wonderland Statue, and we still left feeling like we barely scratched the surface.

And that concludes a look at our very busy week in New York City. I'm still shocked we managed to cover so many attractions, but the great thing about this city is that distances aren't very long and there's always something really cool worth checking out around each corner. Have you been to New York? What are your favorite things about this city? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section below.

Lone Rider ADV Tent Ambassador:

In April 2017 I left Australia for a solo trip around the world on a BMW F800GS. I named it “Are We There Yet” because I don't know my final destination or the duration of this journey.
The North of Israel was for me green forests and foggy mountains which were so enjoyable even during winter. The Sea of Galilee was also absolutely magical. The great thing about Israel is that you can camp nearly anywhere you feel like!

If you wish to get more details on my visit to Israel, check out my blog post:

Throughout my journey, I'm raising money for a young disabled child in Poland named Franek. Franek was diagnosed with cerebral palsy (weakness of the entire right side of the body) and he will require constant rehabilitation for the rest of his life. All the money raised will go directly to helping Franek and his family lead as normal a life as possible so please donate generously:

What Really Happens when you’re Sailing Around the World (Sailing La Vagabonde) Ep. 44

For me, sometimes extreme boredom, frustration with the motion of the boat, feeling isolated/alone, and missing friends and family bucket loads can lead to a little bit of a breakdown every now and then. I’m only human! There are always dramas onboard (EVERYONE has them), weather it be physical or mental. When La Vagabonde has been rocking and rolling back and forth for 4 days straight, and I’ve been copping bruises from the furniture and hoping for the slightest break in the weather that never comes, a boiling pot of water being thrown at me you could say was my last straw. The good times always end up evening out with the bad, but the unpredictability of each day can be stressful and has been since day 1. One day can be the best day of my life, filled with aqua blue waters, smooth sails, palm trees and sunshine, and the next can be the worst….. no sleep for a few days, breaking expensive equipment, haven’t showered or eaten and I’m questioning what on earth I’m doing trying to sail around the world having no sailing experience. But in the end, it’s all worth it for me. I love every minute of it, what we have seen and done around the world with Riley on La Vagabonde. But holey tolitos sometimes it can be tough! Do you guys want to see more of the bad times in videos? Please leave a comment and let me know. Love, Elayna.

I'm Marrying My Indian Girlfriend in India! But We Don't Want to Get Married ????

I'm doing something I never thought I would do... I'm getting married to my Indian girlfriend in New Delhi, India! I'm 34 and unmarried and happy that way, but that can only last so long when you're dating an Indian girl in India.

Our wedding and story are very nontraditional, I'm a foreigner, and she's an Indian girl from a conservative family. It's not normal in Indian culture for them to marry outside of their caste or social standing, not least to a foreigner! There are so many more taboos we're breaking too like we don't want a big fat Indian wedding. In fact, we don't even want to get married. So we're doing things quite differently, especially for India. Wondering what her conservative Indian parents are thinking about their daughter marrying a foreigner? You'll find out everything in the videos.

I'll take you through it all, our story, meeting her family, the wedding plans, my European parents reaction, and what will happen after marriage.

1:07 How did we meet?
2:46 Meeting her Indian family
8:29 Marriage & wedding plans
13:46 My respect for her parents, what they did for us!

ADDED INFO NOT PRESENT IN ORIGINAL SERIES
*Permethrin is toxic to cats
*When removing a tick, make sure the tick’s head isn’t still attached to your skin
*Water filter can be damaged if frozen. To prevent filter from freezing overnight, keep the filter in a ziplock bag with you in your sleeping bag.
*Difference between Water Filter and Purifier: Water filter removes bacteria, but the pore size is too big to remove viruses. A mechanical purifier has small enough pores to filter out viruses.
*Section Added to First Aid: Hyperthermia aka heat exhaustion. Summary: avoid hiking in prime heat of day, take breaks, be mindful of the level of humidity. High humidity compromises your body’s ability to sweat and your sweat’s ability to evaporate and cool your body down. Carry an umbrella in exposed areas.
Signs of hyperthermia: rapid pulse, signs of exhaustion, losing consciousness, rapid shallow breathing, headache, nausea, dizziness, weakness.

????ABOUT BEFRS:
Hey, I’m Sonny! I’m from the US but currently call Vietnam home. I’ve been living in Asia for 10 years and started making food and travel videos to document my experiences. I travel to different parts of the world, hunting down and documenting the most unique food each country has to offer.

If you see any factual food errors in my videos, please feel free to politely let me know in the comments. I'm a huge fan of trying different, interesting foods in each country. My show is from a Western point of view, but more importantly, MY point of view. It is not meant to offend any person or culture.

Why I Don't Like This Country ????????

► SUBSCRIBE for daily travel videos:

While I constantly try to find the positives in every place I visit, there are few places that I just simply didn't enjoy.

The country of Brunei is one of them.

I went to Brunei back in 2014, three years before I made videos, but my negative experiences in the country have stuck in my mind ever since. That, combined with its absurd human rights laws such as stoning to death LGBT members, I was pushed to make this video.

Have you ever visited any countries that you didn't enjoy? Please share below, I'm curious to know.
