I Walked Across The Entire Country In A Straight Line

x

Attempting to cross SCOTLAND in a completely straight line. (PART 1: ENTER THE FACTORY)

*watch in 1440p and with subtitles for full effect*

It's here. The eagerly anticipated Mission Across Scotland, featuring myself and the heroic Welsh Greg, who was hungrier than ever for straight line success after our hiccup in Wales 2020. However, with our longest, most dangerous and action packed line to date waiting patiently for us over the border, the nerves were real. Even with meticulous planning and logistics.
Join us in part 1 as we prepare for take off, and the first stretch of the mission, a stretch dominated by wet feet and the unescapable presence of our biggest obstacle to date: The 95 acre Norbord MDF Factory. Would we even be able to scale it's 8ft barbed wire fence and get inside? Watch till the end to find out.

Attempting to Walk a Straight Line on the Equator in Quito Ecuador

Supposedly on the equator there are conflicting gravitational forces that full both North and South, making it difficult to walk a straight line on the equator. We're skeptical but attempted to walk the equator line in Quito Ecuador and as you can see we had a very difficult time and failed. We did this arms out, eyes closed, heal to toe. No, we hadn't been drinking.

Can we cross the UK's 2nd largest city without using a single road?

It's here. Quite possible my maddest mission to date.

Back in April I convinced my poor brother to join me once more as we made an audacious attempt to cross the entire city of Birmingham, from Sandwell in the west over to Solihull in the East, without using and roads or canals.

With more people, more security, more filth and sewage and some of Birmingham's most knife crime ridden housing estates, this one promised to be a serious step up from the already challenging Black Country Mission from back in 2021.

There had to be slightly more leeway whilst crossing roads this time, but some of the shit we had to go through more than makes up for that I reckon.

This one was tricky to film and edit! show your support by liking the video and subscribing if you haven't already.

*** You can now purchase a dazzling new Birmingham no roads mission poster, designed by the incredibly talented Roman Stevens, over on the official GeoWizard website. They sum this mission up perfectly and somehow make Birmingham look aesthetically pleasing. They also won't be available for too long so add one to your collection while you can: ***

I stuffed a tenner in my pocket and walked north...

Adventure comes in many forms. Today we indulge in one of the simplest and purest forms of adventure there is.
Join me as I grab a sleeping bag, stuff a tenner in my pocket and walk north from my front door into the countryside for as long as fate sees necessary. Along the way we forage for food, gasp for water, sleep in questionable places, bump into countless generous countryside folk and explore the glorious hobbit-like English countryside with a sense of childlike wonder and freedom.

Crossing an ENTIRE country in a straight line with Youtuber GeoWizard

In this episode of When It Hits The Fan we chat to Tom Davies, better known as Youtuber GeoWizard. Tom went viral when he attempted to cross an entire country in a completely straight line. That meant wading through every river, scrambling up every steep bank and fighting his way through several hundred thorny hedgerows.

Tom spoke to When it hits the fan about the challenges he faced along the way - and why ego can be a dangerous drive when you're out in the wilderness all alone.

Walking the Length of England | Adventure Documentary

Last summer I set off on an adventure to walk the length of England, a route that would take me 50 days to complete and have me hiking 800+ miles in total.

This is the adventure movie version of my adventure series walking the length of England. I wild camped and hiked the entire length of England from Land's End to Carter's Bar on the boarder of Scotland.

Join me and Welsh Greg 6 miles into the hills of mid Wales as we attempt to be the first people to cross Wales in a completely straight line. Today was all about reaching the stash point. If we didn't, we were screwed. But with 8.5 miles of farmland in our way, it was by no means guaranteed. Today would turn out to be a day of human interaction, but how costly would those encounters be?

I Crossed Delaware in a Straight Line

Why Delaware? Well, it's only 9 miles across at it's smallest area. My line was 12 miles through fields, woods, backyards, highways, and swamps.

British Transport Police knocked on my door because of this video (SCOTLAND PART 2)

Please note: This is a reupload of the original version with the railway scene cut out. Instead of that scene is an explanation of why it was removed and our stance on it.

*Watch in 1440p and with subtitles for full effect*

Join myself and Welsh Greg as we embark on a gruelling 6 day adventure in which we attempt across Scotland in a completely straight line. In Part 1, after a tricky first 3 miles we successfully scaled the Norbord factory fence without drawing too much attention to ourselves. Our aim now is to escape the factory, cross the railway track, motorways and abandoned fishery that lay beyond and reach the sanctuary of the north third forest where we can make a fire, dry off and if we're really lucky, tune into the Rugby. With a host of obstacles and various people up ahead on our line, it's bound to be tasty.

You CAN walk from US to Russia! The Diomedes, in the Bering Straight Alaska is rarely talked about.

Original vid posted to TikTok: @map_nerd - 20M liked it so figured I'd share with you too!...

You probably know that Alaska and Russia are relatively close – with just the Bering Sea between them, they’re only about 55 miles apart.

But there’s an American town that is much closer, just a couple miles from Russia. And In winter, they can actually walk there, but they don’t… I don’t think.

Diomede is an American town of about 100 people on a small island in the Bering Sea called Little Diomede Island.

It is one of the two Diomede Islands that sit about halfway between mainland Alaska and mainland Russia.

The western island – Big Diomede – is Russian. The eastern island – Little Diomede – is American. They are 2.5 miles apart. The only thing between them is water. In winter, the notoriously cold water freezes up, creating a 2.5 mile ice bridge that’s walkable. (I’m told it takes about a half hour). So technically you CAN walk from the US to Russia.

If you do, you also instantaneously step into the future bc Big Diomede is 21 hours ahead of Little Diomede. The international date line falls right smack between them so you can literally step a whole day ahead.

I like finding interesting things on maps. Hope you do too.

Walking on the Equator in Quito, Ecuador

At Museo de Sitio Intiñan in Quito, Ecuador, walking on the line that marks the equator is difficult because equal opposing forces are pulling me in the opposite direction.

Thinking of doing a straight line mission? Here's everything you need to know.

Are you considering embarking on a straight line mission of your own but aren't quite sure how to approach it? well this video is for you. Effectively a basic guide to straight line missioning, this video should cover all bases when it comes to planning, executing and evaluating a successful straight line mission.

Walking In A Straight Line

In country where there are no distinguishable landmarks to head towards or you are surrounded by trees, it is easy to get disoriented and to walk around in circles. How do you ensure you walk in a straight line?

I Attempt to Cross the Country in 24Hrs and in a Straight Line (Doesn't go to plan) - Part 1

I made a new channel for this sort of thing where I re-uploaded it, I would love it if you could support me over there:

In lockdown we couldn't stay overnight anywhere, so I thought I would take advantage of unlimited exercise and try to walk from the north coast of Somerset at Kilve beach to the south coast in Beer.
I also wanted to do it in as straight of a line as possible. Things didn't go exactly to plan but it's a good adventure.
This is part 1

I have lots of challenges planned for this channel so if you liked it, I would really appreciate a subscribe like and comment to give this new channel a boost.
Thanks for watching and let me know what you thought in the comments!

P.S. Filming will improve as I make more videos :)
