Descoperă Japonia într-un itinerariu de 14 zile

Am pus in imagini cateva lucruri pe care mi-as fi dorit sa le citesc undeva, cap-coada, inainte de calatoria noastra in Japonia, asa ca daca va planuiti sa mergeti in Japonia, primele 10 minute sunt super utile.

60 FOODS TO TRY IN TAIWAN - mainly street food!

We had an incredible time eating in Taiwan while traveling there for over a month. At some point we realized that we needed to put all of our food into one single video! We tried as MANY different things as we could, and here is the result (along with some occasional background about the thing we're trying). We hope you enjoy watching this almost as much as we enjoyed making it.

THANKS FOR WATCHING!

I Visit An Indonesian Kindergarten, Goes Terribly BAD! ????????

Today, after eating a delicious breakfast prepared by Ibnu's mother, Ibnu and I head to a local kindergarten in the village to say hello to the kids. Unfortunately, we showed up late and the kids were already leaving to go home. We showed up a little after 9 am, and it was already too late. The kids at this school are only there from 8 am to 9 am. So, after talking with one of the teachers, we decided we will come back the next day and be sure to be there at 8 am. This actually works out better because I was able to tell the school that I wanted to do an English lesson with the kids. I think they just wanted to take some pictures with me. So in the next video, you will see the lesson I had with the kids.

After the mishap at the school, Ibnu and I head off to find a place to get a haircut. We found a cheap local spot that cuts hair for just ¢70, the cheapest haircut of my life. And the barber, Mr. Hafi, did a great job! Ibnu looks great and his Mom is much happier too because he cut off all that yellow bleached hair lol. We then head back to Ibnu's for dinner which was pretty much the same thing I had for breakfast and lunch, tempeh, eggs, tofu, and curry. It was good each time though! I then get a surprise tour of the mosque across the street. Another eventful day in the village, hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching! and see you in the next video!

It's Snowing in Hiroshima?!

How far is the 'A-bomb dome' from ground zero in Hiroshima?

The 'A-bomb dome' is one of the only buildings to have survived the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima at the end of the Second World War. It is only a few dozen metres from the exact spot where the bomb detonated, about half-way down the street in the video. The spot is marked by a small plaque.

RAF Leaving Presentation Steve Davies

During the afternoon on Friday 17 Dec 1999, I attended my official 'send-off' from the Police School even though I’d made it clear that I wished to go off quietly without any fuss. I assumed we were invited to drinks in the bar but Guida, our friends Paul and Pat Noden, and I were whisked off into the tea bar where everyone had assembled. After a few minutes we were all invited to go through into the Air Transport Security Suite by Stuart Mackay who was smiling from ear to ear. Inside the suite, I saw that rows of chairs had been assembled and my immediate thoughts were that they were going to do a version of 'This is your Life'. However, I was wrong! Steph Young, made up to look like a caretaker was wearing a brown dust coat, large spectacles and a false moustache. She produced a large placard, which had the words 'Applaud Loudly' printed on it and instructed the audience to cheer whenever they heard the words 'RAF Shawbury' mentioned. She then brought on some props for the first in a series of comedy sketches that were about to be enacted by some of the staff.

I’d better explain the thought behind the sketches and the part my ‘character’ played in them. Some time before Pete Mason and the corporals were talking about the cartoon 'The Simpsons' and were assigning character profiles to individual members of the school. Sqn Ldr Hunter was christened 'Mr Burns' after the mean old factory boss while Pete Mason was likened to 'Homer Simpson'. I was thought to resemble 'Ned Flanders' who was always cheerful and whistling no matter how bad the situation was. As a manager I had always held the belief that my most important resource was the people working for me and to that end I worked hard in looking after their interests and balancing them out to harmonise with the job.

The sketches that afternoon represented important historical events that had taken place during the 20th century with tragic results. However, they were played out with me, being superbly portrayed by Janner Pascoe who had been made up to represent me by wearing a large bald head made from papermash, oversize spectacles, rank insignia and pen holder. He also carried a copy of my autobiography entitled 'The last word'. Everyone, including me, was roaring with laughter when Janner entered the room. The other actors were Pete Mason and Gary Mitchell while Graham Yerby and Steph Young handled the technical side of things and sound effects. Apparently, to keep the secret from me they had all returned to work in the evening just to rehearse.

The first sketch portrayed Captain Scott of the Antarctic and his team battling for survival in a blizzard. It seemed that they would have survived had 'I' not turned up in my ever cheerful mood whistling and offering all sorts of sound advice for their particular situation. Needless to say that that sketch ended when Scott and his team, no longer able to stand my cheerful advice, fled from their tents into the blizzard and perished….!

The subsequent 3 sketches followed on similar lines portraying the events surrounding the sinking of the Titanic, the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and the assassination of John F Kennedy.

The final sketch portrayed God and the Devil trying the sort out the future of the RAF Police as part of ‘Provost 2000’. They seemed to be doing fine until 'I' arrived and was just too much for them.

After the final bow from the actors and support staff Pete Mason made a speech, which brought me near to tears. I was then presented with a silver port stand, bottle of Port and a set of crystal glasses and a framed cartoon of me which Janner, a gifted artist, had painted and Guida was presented with a bouquet of flowers.

Needless to say I was humbled and so impressed with the efforts that everyone had gone to in order to give me a good send off at the end of 25 years service. I was invited to say a few words and for once in my life I was almost speechless.

After thanking everyone for their support we all retired to the tea bar for a few drinks. Later I was presented with a video tape recorded during the show and a number of photographs which will forever remind me of that terrific last day…… you crazy bunch of sods!!

Christmas in Japan – Christmas Lights, Hand Warmers, Vending Machines?

During my Working Holiday in Japan I spent the Christmas season in Tokyo admiring all the awesome sparkling Christmas illuminations. There are the usual lit up tress, but also very sophisticated shows, interactive illuminations and light ups including projection mapping at the Tokyo Skytree. I visited five major Japanese Christmas illuminations (more info further down) taking many pictures and videos that I want to share with you!
Walking around in Tokyo looking at those Christmas lights in winter left me freezing. That’s why I’ll be introducing two methods of how to survive sightseeing in those conditions. Moreover, if you don’t know anything about Japanese vending machines. This is the chance to learn why they are special.
What do you think about Japan's light ups, Kairo and vending machines? Let me know in the comments! :)

Also follow my instagram account for some Christmas illumination pictures I will upload soon:

0:00:24 – Mesmerizing Christmas Illuminations
0:01:43 – Kairo – Japanese heat pads to keep warm
0:02:55 – Japan's awesome vending machines

The Christmas Illuminations I went to:
*** Tokyo Midtown Christmas Illumination
*** Roppongi Hills Christmas Illumination & Christmas Market
*** Tokyo Skytree Town Dream Christmas
*** Tokyo Dome City Winter Illumination
*** Ebisu Garden Place Winter Illumination
I went in 2018, but the Illuminations are spectacular every year ????
