Sihle Sithole, commonly known as Blxckie, is a South African rapper. In early 2021, he was named Apple Music's Up Next artist.

Blxckie is originally from Durban, South Africa where he was born and raised, he often visited Johannesburg. In 2020, he found himself stuck in Johannesburg when the country went on a 21-day lockdown, but later said it was a blessing.

In an interview with Jade Kelly, he commented that he felt there was a disconnect between South African artists and their fans, saying it’s almost like when an artist blows up or gets a little bit of fame that goes straight to their head. But what they forget is that the fans will always be the thing that stands between you and greatness. As much as they love the music, we need them to keep listening if we want to stick around, and that’s what I’m all about.

Blxckie has collaborated with South African artists such as Nasty C, Yanga Chief, DJ Maphorisa and K.O, as well as the Nigerian-born CKay. That same year, he won Freshman of the year at the South African Hip Hop Awards 2021. His album B4Now was nominated for album of the year and his single Ye x4 was nominated for song of the year and best collaboration at the South African Hip Hop Awards 2021. In 2021 he was selected at the top spot on MTV Base: SA's Hottest MCs.

The artists featured in this weeks episode are a collaborative duo by the names Big Dreamz and Reba, bring us a body of work titled “Garden Music” which is available across all digital platforms; but on #FeelGoodLiveSessions we decided to capture a stripped down live version showcasing the essence of this body of work.

Big Dreamz is a well experienced musician with his experience spanning over 20 years across different disciplines. He started his musical journey at a very young age while based in Swaziland which saw him doing jingles for local radio stations.

He studied music at some point but dropped out to pursue his talent through experiential learning. This saw him become a studio producer as well as sound engineer working on titles by some of South Africa’s iconic musicians such as our very own JR, the late Riky Rick, Cassper Nyovest and DJ Fresh to name a few.

He took the hard way up the musical ladder behind the scenes and gained a wealth of experience of the Music industry in South Africa with his passion lying within the Hip Hop genre. However, he maintained the notion that as much as Hip Hop music is his passion, he’s not a rapper, he’s a musician because music is his calling.

Along his journey through different sphere’s in music, he came across Reba on a social media “status” upload from an industry colleague. He pursued the colleague to help find the amazing young lady with such a great talent until they eventually were introduced to each other. She was still in high school then and was thus too young for the plans he would have after hearing her amazing gift.

Reba at this time was featured on quite a few artists projects, but had not even considered having a body of work she could independently call her own. She is a self taught vocalist who’s work ethic and diligence has proved to have worked in her favour. Later on down the line the two would cross paths again to build something as spectacular as their “Garden Music” offering.

Reba’s innate talent was harnessed by being exposed to good music by her family with repertoires spanning across Jazz bossanova and African musical genre’s. Elements of these genre’s can clearly be heard in her vocal delivery which carries a vocal abundance of harmonic energies drifting through the universe.

“Garden Music” was project which would see the both of these artist break their personal barriers to a body of work they can each call their own. The would create these melodies sitting in the garden and jamming with the birds and the bees through their common love for nature and plants.

They go on to mention that the point of this EP titled “Garden Music” is to guide the listener to “escape their uncomfortable reality through music”…
