How I tracked my LOST luggage using Apple AirTag
A video of how I tracked my lost luggage during the summer of 2022. I was flying home from Bali after vacation and the bag got stuck at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport for 26 days, before it was localized.
I was able at all time see where my bag were in the Apples Find My app, using an Apple AirTag. Making it easier to not freak out if the bag actually was missing.

Today is an unusual twist on our usual travel vlogs. We’re heading to the Unclaimed Baggage Center in Scottsboro, Alabama to see where exactly all of that unclaimed baggage goes when lost luggage doesn’t get reunited with its owners. Clothes, jewelry, electronics, books, and even some strange collectibles can be found at the Unclaimed Baggage Center. This is a unique thrift store experience for sure and worth checking out if you are ever passing through north Alabama!

If your suitcase has failed to follow you to the airport, this guide will help you track down your lost luggage before it hits the auction block.
Step 1: Check the other carousels
Check the baggage carousels from other arriving flights. Luggage is sometimes misdirected as it is unloaded and transported.
Tip
Use a brightly colored bag, tag, or strap so you can spot your suitcase easier and to aid in locating your lost luggage.
Step 2: Report lost luggage
Report your lost luggage to your carrier's baggage service office inside the airport as soon as possible. Don't leave without filing a claim.
Step 3: Keep the checked baggage claim ticket
Keep your checked baggage claim ticket as well as your boarding pass to help supply the airline with tracking information.
Step 4: List contents
Make a detailed list of your luggage's contents and give it to the airline in case your bag was torn open, stolen, or destroyed.
Tip
Do not lie about the contents of your luggage. Federal law will compensate you with a maximum of $2,500 for the lost luggage.
Step 5: Hire an aviation attorney
Hire an aviation attorney as a last resort to collect restitution in excess of $2,500 or if problems arise in finding your luggage.

In 2006, 68 pieces of stolen luggage were found in a trash container outside a pet store near George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston.
Airtag & keys got stolen on a KLM plane.. but I recovered them!
In september 2021 I left an Apple Airtag on a KLM to see what would happen. To my suprise it flew around for 2 months before it got taken by probably a cleaner of the plane and taken home.
***Some people want to try and copy this idea.. remember an Airtag is a foreign object for an airplane. Don't hide an airtag where it normally would never be (like squeeze it somewhere else than a planeseat.. you don't want to be responsible for by accident taking down a plane!!***

In this video, we arrived at the Unclaimed baggage Center to find out what exactly happens to lost luggage at the airport! What we found was a treasure trove of items that cover a city block. In Scottsboro, Alabama lies a hidden gem called the Unclaimed Baggage Center. Over 99 percent of unclaimed baggage is matched up and returned to its original owner, however, that last 1% ends up on a truck to Alabama, where it is analyzed, verified, sorted, and sold at the Unclaimed Baggage Center. You can literally find anything and everything here, and at a great discount too. We found some camping clothes and shoes that we loved.
After we left the Unclaimed baggage Center, we headed to Birmingham, Alabama, where we found that our campsite had closed due to COVID. We spent about an hour talking through our options before we decided to grab dinner at Saw's BBQ on 41st in Birmingham. We LOVED our experience and food there and highly recommend it if you are in the area. After dinner we somehow ended up at a hotel where we took warm showers and slept in a comfy bed :)
We received some much needed rest before heading out on our next adventure. Next stop- the USS Alabama!

My carry-on bag got stolen ???? from the plane! What is this? Never experienced anything like this. Like for real? I was a bit in shock and panic when I realized that someone took my bag from the plane. It was gone in the overhead compartment where I put it. I didn't know what to do… The Turkish Airlines crew said they would search the plane when it was completely empty and told me to go search outside and go escalate the problem immediately. When I got to the Turkish Airlines business class transfer desk, they said you have to go to the police. The police was extremely rude and literally said: 'not our problem, go to Turkish Airlines, it is their problem'! I wish I had filmed it, but yeah not a smart idea to film the police! ???? Anyway I went back fuming to the Turkish Airlines desk and made sure this time I was finally being helped! It was unbelievable that everything took so long before finally things were initiated. Staff called the plane to urge them to search again and 10 min later they called and said plane is empty nothing found. Panic! ???????? Luckily 2 minutes later Lost & Found called that someone brought in the bag. Someone probably realized after passport control that he had the wrong back. Unbelievable… which to me also raised the question: what about his or her bag? ????????♂️ Anyway not my problem. Someone was coming to being me my passport so I could go through passport control and pick up my bag. Additional info: my connection flight was leaving in 30 min. Was I going to make it to go through check-in, security and passport control again and run to my gate? #airport #turkishairlines
