Tasting the WORLD's SMELLIEST FRUIT (Durian) in Kuala Lumpur ????????
In this video I'm exploring Jalan Alor street in Kuala Lumpur. This street is the most famous street food street in KL. Together with my friends @KenAbroad , @LukeDamant and @travelescapesOFFICIAL we will try some great food.
As Malaysia is known for durian fruit I decided to start this food trip with a taste test of this notorious fruit. I found a food stall that sold the Musan King which is one of the most expensive durian varieties. Reviews of durian were mixed ????
As I couldn't get enough of the durian I decided to try fried durian which was surprisingly delicious!
After that I had a wagyu stick, not Malaysian but delicious nonetheless.
To end the video I had a mixed platter of satay with peanut sauce. I tried lamb, chicken and beef.

It was our FIRST TIME visiting and trying Musang King Durian Farm in Raub, Pahang, Malaysia!
What a great day we had! Raub, Pahang is only about 2-3 hours away from Kuala Lumpur, Selangor. One of our Youtube subscriber, Vincent insisted that we visit a Musang King Durian farm since he saw our video trying durian/ first time durian reaction/ First time musang king reaction at SS2 in Petaling Jaya.
We learned so much about durian from differentiating between a D24 durian and a Musang King durian, how to open a durian fruit, why durian is so expensive, how to tell if a durian is ripe and ready to eat! We also saw how they package durian for export to China, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Special thanks to Calvin from LOCHOOK.COM for the durian tasting and farm tour.

FIRST TIME trying durian in Malaysia! Searching for the best durian: Musang King!
We finally tried Malaysian durian! Including the famous Musang King, claimed to be the BEST durian in the world!
We didn't know there were so many types of durian in Malaysia! So we went to SS2 in Petaling Jaya which is not far from Kuala Lumpur. There must have been 10 or more durian shops around the area! We settled at the SS2 Durian House shop, and bought some kampung durian (D13 and Kang Hai) at RM2 per piece and the Black Gold Musang King (from Pahang) at RM48/kg. We wanted to see if we can tell the difference in taste!

In this episode, we take a special trip to a durian farm in Pahang, Malaysia to try the notorious fruit in the freshest way possible. Although we have tried durian before in other countries, this was our first time trying durian in Malaysia in its purest form. At the farm, we tried D24 durian and of course, the famous Musang King Durian. Is Musang King durian the BEST durian in the world? It surely was the best durian we have ever tasted!

Malaysia’s most expensive durian!
Would you pay extra for the Black Spot? ???? This durian sells for up to Rm120 per kg ($11.81 USD per lb) and is one of the most expensive durians in Malaysia. It’s one of the newest registered durian varieties, D214, known locally as Tupai King. It has the same bright yellow, sticky-dry flesh as Musang King, but with a richer flavor and alcoholic, berry syrupiness that makes it one of the most unique-tasting durians.

It's time to eat arguably the stinkiest fruit in the world, the king of fruits DURIAN! We visit Durian SS2 in Petaling Jaya and select an XO durian to try.
We are with fellow YouTubers Always a Friday ( who have never tried durian before.
If you've never tried durian, people describe the smell as putrid, like farts, or vomit or sewerage. The worst smells in the world. We think it smells fragrant and the taste to us is AMAZING. The texture of the fruit is akin to a custard or whipped cream. It's a MUST EAT when you're in Malaysia whose durians are exported all around the world.
We sampled the XO durian which was RM55/$12.80USD per kilo. The cheapest durian available was the Asli at RM18/$4USD per kilo and the most expensive was the Musang King at RM85/$20USD per kilo.
Durian is known for being a 'heaty' food. The Chinese believe certain foods have warming properties and it's important after you've consumed these foods to balance the body by eating foods with cooling properties such as coconut water. The fresh coconuts at Durian SS2 were RM5/$1.20USD.

Ladies & Gentlemen, it is my pleasure to introduce you today to the world's most polarizing, bizarre, and stinky fruit called DURIAN.
If you've ever been around it before, then you cannot forget the pungent aroma that you can smell from 50 feet away, and if you've ever tasted it, then that flavor sticks in your memory for eternity. But for all the lovers of this fruit, and believe me, there are MANY -- it's almost like a 'cult following' where people are extremely addicted to eating it.
Durian is only found in Southeast Asia, where it naturally grows, and MALAYSIA is known to be the birthplace of the fruit. In other words, the durian you will find in Malaysia is the best in the world.
Today, I met up with a wonderful Malaysian family in K.L. (whom I met 10 months ago in Seoul) and they took me out to their favorite durian 'warehouse' -- the mecca for durian eaters. To be honest, I enjoyed durian a lot more this time than my previous 6 or 7 times eating it!

Durian Delivery in KL ????
We tried out 3 different companies to see if you can get good quality durian from the comfort of home without dealing with KL’s famously snarly traffic. And the answer is yes! Durian was great ????
Here’s what we ordered:
????Whole Durian Tekka & Golden Phoenix from Durian Cemara
????Musang King, Red Prawn & D24 from Durian Man SS2
????Red Prawn (Udang Merah) from CYK Happy Durian
The durians were delivered by Grab and arrived surprisingly fast (within 40 minutes) even though we ordered from different parts of the city. Durian Cemara packed the durians with a frozen water bottle, which was a great touch for keeping the durians fresher in the KL heat. Overall I was surprised that the durian was fresh and good quality ????????????
My biggest bone to pick is that the Udang Merah (Red Prawn) being sold by these companies is definitely NOT the same Red Prawn that comes from Penang. The Udang Merah we ordered from one company was obviously D13 and the other was D144. I could taste it.

91: I Search For the BEST Durian In Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia!
I'm in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia! I start off by trying out the oh so famous Banana Leaf restaurant: Restoran Sri Nirwana Maju Bangsar (43, Jalan Telawi 3, Bangsar Baru, 59100 Kuala Lumpur, Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia). The experience was extraordinary and the food was so good! Every side dish complemented each other. We also ordered a side of chicken as well. If you want good food and a good vegetarian option, definitely check out Nirwana Maju at Bangsar! Total meal for 4 people came out to RM70.
Next we take a road trip to Melaka (Malacca City) as a spur of the moment. It was great to see this charming city as I've never been here before. Lots of cool looking buildings and history. We rode on those tricycles that were decked out with colourful lights and sounds. It was cool how they had pokemon themes, Hello Kitty, etc. We chose Doremon. It was quite literally a 10-15 minute ride around the most famous strip. Costed RM20. Not really worth the price but was cool nonetheless!
I then checked out the famous Pavilion Mall. This place is quite upscale and has lots of cool decorations! lots of things to see, do and EAT! We try out the Japanese bbq place that was all you can eat for RM45 a person. It's called Rocku Yakiniku (Lot.7.01.03, Level 7, 168, Jalan Bukit Bintang, Bukit Bintang, 55100 Kuala Lumpur, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia). The vibe and decoration inside was unreal! It had a live band playing the entire time and the meats were top notch! Definitely check it out!
Finally we end our night at Changkat Bukit Bintang for some drinks and some more food. We decided to eat at one of the outdoor stalls along Jalan Alor. This street is packed! we saw several stalls selling durian so we decided to buy one to try. Apparently durian season ended so everything is over priced. According to my friends who are locals, the best is the Mausang King Durian. D24 would be next in line. In the end we opted for a Red Prawn Durian which was d24 grade that costed RM138. While opening it, the butcher realised that half of it had no meat (for it's weight class) so they gave us a tiny Mousang King to make up for it. The Red Prawn Durian was honestly disappointing. It was very hard and bitter. Definitely got scammed here. The Mousang King was fragrant and custardy which was nice but for the price that we paid, definitely don't purchase durian off season!
