Discover the Majestic Nature Island That Is Dominica

No, it’s not the Dominican Republic; welcome to Dominica, the nature island! #travel #dominica #island

Dominica is situated between Guadeloupe and Martinique in the Caribbean, and is 300 square miles of paradise. With the highest concentration of dormant volcanoes in the world, there’s an endless supply of hot springs and warm streams and even warm bubbles caressing you from the ocean floor. Two-thirds of the island is covered in tropical rainforest, resulting in the lushest landscapes and most magnificent canyons and waterfalls you’ll ever see.

There were so many highlights on our trip to Dominica, but the main ones we featured in this video were the hike to Boiling Lake in the UNESCO-listed Morne Trois Pitons National Park and seeing sperm whales in the open ocean—Earth’s largest toothed predator—right up close. What set Dominica apart from everywhere else is that you’ll have these spectacular beaches, waterfalls, hot springs, and natural wonders all to yourself. And last but definitely not least, you’ll get to meet some of the kindest and most warmhearted people on the planet!

Dominica Travel Video Guide

Dominica Travel Video Guide - Whether you're into trekking high into the mountaintops or exploring the watery world below, Dominica is the place to go for those who prefer hiking boots over high heels and are content with a nightlife where the only music is the murmur of the jungle.

Dominica has surprisingly long drives for such a small island, so it's better to pick a spot or two and explore instead of bouncing around. If you can do it in the mountains (hiking, bird-watching, searching for hidden pools and waterfalls) or the water (diving, snorkeling, kayaking), you can do it in your Dominica Travel Adventure. Don't miss the ancient forests of the Morne Trois Pitons National Park, home to the otherworldly Boiling Lake and the spectacular Trafalgar Falls.Ju

With another morning on the tropical island of Dominica ahead of me, I kicked off my
day with a market tour of its capital, Roseau!

BOLO’S MOBILE: At the Bolo’s Mobile cart outside, I got a saltfish and herring
sandwich made with a hot dog bun. The fluffy bun and briny meat were fantastic with
the pepper sauce! I also enjoyed a passion fruit and sorrel juice.

ROSEAU MARKET: Inside the market, we saw lots of vendors selling a variety of things:
clothing, household items, and fresh produce. I tried some delicious crab backs and
bush rum, sugarcane, tender coconut and coconut water, cow skin, saltfish & bake, and
pommecythere juice. Everything was fantastic!

COCONUT VENDOR: We then drove to a coconut vendor with a truck full of coconuts.
The coconut was monstrous and full of water and meat. It was the sweetest coconut
water I’d ever had in my life, and the meat was sweet, too!

FOOTBALL HOUSE: This building also houses the Dominica Football Association
offices. It’s the only place on the island where you can buy authentic Dominica jerseys. I
bought one for about $40 USD!

FRESHWATER LAKE AND TRAFALGAR FALLS: From there, we drove uphill through
the jungle to Freshwater Lake, the largest lake on the island. You can swim and kayak
there, but obey the signs for your safety. Then, we drove to Trafalgar Falls, which are
twin waterfalls in the jungle. It takes 10 minutes to hike through the rainforest to reach
them. They’re spectacular!

I am back in DOMINICA ???????? #dominica #roseau

I Am Pure - Like Water (my impression on Dominica)

Digital and video art can be complex and conceptual, or it can be simple and touch the heart. I hope this short video does the latter.

I have always felt a deep sadness at the destruction that humans inflict upon nature. In recent years, this feeling has only grown stronger. After living for 55 years in large cities in Europe and Canada, I moved to Dominica, a tiny Caribbean island. Its pristine nature has allowed me to feel a renewed connection with the natural world. From here, the damage we are doing to nature and the climate seems all the more senseless.

We need nature. We are part of nature. In fact, we ARE nature. This one-minute video is a meditation on this connection, a reminder of our place in the natural world. It was filmed in Dominica, which is also known as the Nature Island.

I hope this video inspires you to appreciate the beauty and importance of nature. It is ours to cherish and protect.

A very short, intuitive video filmed in 4K that takes a bit more impressionistic and creative approach to the beauty of the Nature Island I now live on, than my usual short nature videos. I hope you like it. I plan to explore this idea further on. Thank you!

MAP OF DOMINICA

greetings my friends. this is a map of Dominica. Dominica is an island nation in the Caribbean Sea, the northernmost of the Windward Islands. The size of the country is about 289.5 square miles and it is about 29 miles long and 16 miles wide.

Known as The Nature Island of the Caribbean due to its lush scenery and varied flora and fauna, Dominica is largely covered by rainforest and is home to the world's second-largest hot spring, Boiling Lake. Within its borders lie two ecoregions: Windward Islands moist forests and Windward Islands xeric scrub. The most mountainous of the Lesser Antilles, its volcanic peaks are cones of lava craters, the largest of these being Morne aux Diables, Morne Diablotins, (the highest on the island at 1,447 m), Morne Trois Pitons and Morne Anglais. Morne Trois Pitons National Park is a tropical forest blended with volcanic features; The Calibishie area in the country's northeast has sandy beaches. Some plants and animals thought to be extinct on surrounding islands can still be found in Dominica's forests. The island has several protected areas, including Cabrits National Park, as well as 365 rivers. For a few years the government sought to encourage the island as an ecotourism destination, although the hurricane of 2017 has since changed these plans.

There are two primary population centres: the capital Roseau and Portsmouth. The main centres tend to be located around the coast, with the mountainous interior sparsely populated. thats all. please comment and subscribe for the best maps. goodbye.
