This alcohol stove is perfect for lightweight hiking, camping of any other occasion where you want to cook with alcohol.

Sandpaper if you want to sand the tin down and you will need some form of alcohol to burn - I use Methylated spirits.

The Cheapest Alcohol Stove - That Has A Soul!

This is an alcohol/meth stove/burner I made from a Vaseline Tin and Fire Rope. The fire rope cost me £1.50 (including shipping) for 1 metre (which is enough for about three burners!) and the vaseline tin costs £1.50 new from the shop (with vaseline in it).
I consider the tin free just as you would any jam or pickle lid you might use.
As for the fire rope... I measure it at 50p per stove so in my eyes the cost of that burner is 50p and at that price it doesn't fall short from the Trangia by very much in terms of effectiveness and although it's not as robust and although you can't carry meth in it or cook with it (it's only good for boiling) those minuses are also pluses. It's very lightweight, has a narrow and flat profile and you can easily put it in your pocket and you wouldn't even notice it.
I'm not suggesting it's better than the Trangia - I'm merely suggesting that for different purposes it would be better suited.
For instance - ultra lightweight backpacking where you only boil water for either a brew or dehydrated meals where all you need is to add hot water.
For that, at 50p, it might very well be the best burner ever. Of course, you can even make it better if you can find a similar tin from titanium. That will be even lighter and will certainly cool even faster.
Another idea is to use Carbon Felt. It's more expensive but should work well.

Alcohol Stove Comparison | Perfecting The Ultralight DIY Cook Kit

The term “Ultralight Cook Kit” is frequently used to describe cooking systems available at your favorite outfitter. The goal of this video is to showcase some of the many (lighter) options for the alcohol stove DIY’ers. Reviewing the progression of my designs, we get a sentimental view comparing what works, what we have changed, and our favorite alcohol stoves made from nothing but materials found at home.

Improved Capillary Hoop Alcohol Stove with Fuel Cap.

I don't know where can you get same screw cap cans.
Don't ask this performance such as burn time, boil time or fuel capacity, etc. It's depends on your making size or skill.

DIY 4 in 1 Backpacking Wood Gas, Wood, Esbit and Alcohol Stove(s)

My DIY 4 in 1 Wood Gas, Wood, Esbit and Alcohol burning backpacking stove. Watching many YouTube videos on the subject I decided to come up with a version of my own.

Mine borrows ideas and designs from J Falk and others - but I give special credit to Hiram Cook and his use of a Progresso soup can (for the Wood Gas chamber) that fits the 1 quart paint can perfectly. You need to visit his YouTube site, his work on stoves is amazing! (And be sure to check out his buddy Max).

The stove(s) turned out okay for my first attempt. Making all of them fit into a GSI Dualist Cooking Set was an added bonus and a pleasant surprise.

Hopefully you are able to get a view from all angles for each part of the stove as I spun them.

DIY Aluminum Bottle Stoves pt 1

I got this idea from Zelph Stoves. He has a single aluminum bottle stove that has been rolled, then stuffed w/exhaust wrap as a wick. Oakeycreek has how to info for building this out of 2 bottles. I took this design and tried my hand at scaling it down. All credit should go to these guys for there innovations. I merely wanted to suit it to my needs.
