In August Vegard and I took a road trip to our friends in Ølensvåg. We drive electric, so we went out on our wildest adventure with our BMW i3 ever. We hadn't driven this car this far before, so we were both thrilled! This video shows you how to charge, how must it cost and how it went. Enjoy!

Picture this: It's a Saturday afternoon, you have the day off, no plans. You start looking at a map, and you see Sweden! That's what happened to us. We decided to drive to Gothenburg with our electric car, a BMW i3, which is a challenge, since the range isn't too good in winter weather. This video shows you how long the charging was, how must it cost and how it went. Enjoy!

BMW i3 REx - Road Trip from Cornwall to Norfolk
BMW i3 Road Trip from Cornwall to Norfolk. I had planned this trip in my BMW i3 Rex from just near Bodmin in Cornwall to Kings Lynn in Norfolk. Started with issues as for some reason my intelligent charging failed to charge the car at home the night before nor is it pre-condition the car before departure. This meant that I left home with around 70 ish percent battery. Made it to Exeter Moto Ecotricity charger which surprised me as it was working. However three of the four chargers I attempted to use (all Ecotricity) had issues. I made to Kings Lynn eventually but I could have done it quicker had the chargers being working. Next time I intend to find chargers off the motorway that are not Ecotricity !

Vi er halvveis ut i september og bestemmer oss for å rekke en siste ladetur før vinteren.
Vi håper på litt fint vær og da er Norge uaktuelt denne helgen. Lengre syd for oss ser det bedre ut og vi legger ut på vår andre langtur med elbil.
Med vår BMW i3 vil vi prøve å komme oss til København. Skal vi nå målet er vi helt avhengig av å få ladet fra leverandører vi ikke har i Norge. Så første pri blir å teste hva som funker før vi kommer for langt ned.
Etter litt handling rett over grensa var det mørkt når vi omsider satte oss i bilen. Det skulle vise seg at ladesatsjoner er både dårlig merket og dårlig opplyst noe som gjorde de vanskelige å finne i mørket og vi brukte unødig lang tid. Vi blir enige om å komme oss forbi Gøteborg for å slippe rushtrafikk neste morgen og bestiller hotell fra bilen.

Yeah it is a difficult country when you talk about rules and government but what a beautiful country it is. You have these amazing roads and a wonderful infrastructure to charge electric cars even though it sometimes looks like you are in the middle of nowhere. I would suggest everyone to drive with an electric car once in their life, it really chances your opinion on them once you drove an electric car. I'm not here to tell you that electric cars are the ones you need to buy right away but I'm here to tell you that they will amaze you in every way possible. I know a lot of people have doubts about electric vehicles when it comes to range and loading infrastructures but i must say we never had any difficulties what so ever. When we were loading we always had something on hands like planning our route or eating breakfast. These things are things you would do as well with your ordinary car. So if you get used to it it isn't a hassle at all.
