How to Have fun in a Hurricane!

Our first Hurricane and is was CRAZY! WE played and tried to make the most of it but the aftermath was really challenging.
We are safe and thanks to a fire extinguisher our house is safe too! We no longer have a generator but we are fine. Please pray for those that are stuck in the Hurricanes!

Stranded in a Rainstorm - Surviving the Night

Caught in a rainstorm with a broken paddle, too far to hike out I must spend the night with the limited gear that I have.

While this situation was simulated, everything in the video I actually did with the limited tools and gear that I brought, all shown on video.

I always tell people where I'm going, I always carry an emergency communication device and I always bring an extra paddle, But It was fun to go through the motions of a potential stranded situation.

I'm sure I could have fixed my paddle before I snapped it all the way through but then I wouldn't have got to spend the night with my 1000 mosquito friends

Hope yall have a great day

Surviving Severe Triple Hurricane! Extreme Winter Van Life Storm Camping, Blizzard & Snow #vanlife

Surviving my 2nd Winter of Extreme Van Life in Hurricane, Blizzard, Snow Storm & Camping in Freezing Temperatures. Triple Hurricane inferno in the Arctic.
Winter is here! Part 5 for my 2024 Arctic tour. Blizzard, Snow Storm Camping & Freezing Cold. Cozy Van Life Winter Camping in Snow Storm, blizzard, surviving extreme weather & temperatures #vanlife #wintervanlife

3 record breaking hurricanes surprised me and hit the arctic coast within one week as I was traveling in my van to the outlying islands. The hurricanes where the strongest that have ever been measured in the country and reached wind speeds of over 50 m/s, or 111mph. Records where set that where way higher than this again. Red alerts where issued for all along the coast, and I ended up in the middle of it, not by my choice, but when ferries are involved things can get tricky. Here is my history of what I did to survive this inferno of 3 hurricanes in one week.

My van is a Fiat Ducato, FWD with Nokian Hakkapliitta studless Winter Tires. This is the same as a Ram Promaster in America - USA and Canada.

Winter Survival Shelter, Stay Warm Overnight With No Fire

How to build a simple emergency winter survival shelter for use in a solo overnight stay in the field. If you end up getting caught out in bad weather while out in the field and have limited resources this style shelter can be made with no tools, and little skill. Just build it small and use as much material as you have energy to gather, the more you get the warmer you will be.
The Arid Scablands can be a tricky place to be when the weather gets bad. Cold winds, low temperatures and steep cliffs and ledges can become hard to navigate at night. In other areas that have an abundance of resources building a shelter can be pretty simple, and there are many videos of building bamboo huts, stick lean-to's shelters, fern and bark huts. We have to be a little creative out here having almost none of those building materials, even firewood is scarce.

My WORST Storm EVER! Facing Fiona in a Small Camper

The full-length finale to my 6-part Atlantic Travels series goes out with a roar! Although completely unplanned, my camping trip had to be cut my trip short with news that a hurricane was on the way. It was a frantic run from Labrador to Newfoundland, and finally to Nova Scotia just as the remains of Hurricane Fiona hit the Eastern Coast of Canada. Although not as severe as when it hit the Caribbean, it still packed a wicked punch and in 2022 was Canada's most expensive weather event of all time.
The video starts off in Newfoundland and follows my attempts to escape the worst of the storm and find a safe camping spot in western Nova Scotia. It didn't go as expected of course!

I highly recommend a free phone app called Windy. A link is included here (Non-Affiliate):

Winter Camping in a Snow Storm - Blizzard Extreme Solo Tent Camp in the North with Heavy Snowfall

Winter camping & backpacking in a snowstorm - heavy snowfall extreme weather forest tent camping in the north, no fire, cold tent, high winds, 25 m/s, 56 mph, 90 km/h.

Cold tent winter camping during a snow storm in the northern wilderness. The forecast said 25m/s or 56mph winds. I choose snow shoes again since it makes filming easier than if I was using skis.
I walked out into the forest in a break in the storm and set up camp, getting ready for the heavy snowstorm that was coming in through the night. It turned into a massive storm but I had found a sheltered place for my camp in the trees. I also built a snow wall to shelter behind for the eastern winds. Quite an interesting trip that ended in a mixture between rain and sleet. Extended version coming soon.

Gear list for this trip is towards the end of the video.
