We finally made it home to Maui! But we had to jump through some hoops to get in with Hawaii’s pre-travel testing program. We share our experience on testing at two different clinics and share lessons learned from our experience and others who have done the pre-travel testing in the past 30-days.
Hawaii is cautiously opening and many locals are nervous about the virus spreading on the Hawaiian islands. When you visit, it is mandatory to wear your mask when in public and follow social distancing best practices. Mahalo for being respectful to the local community.

The day is here, Hawaii is open. But this is just the beginning. We breakdown how to complete pre-testing so you don’t have to quarantine or pull-out your hair figuring out what to do.
Hawaii has provided more details on their new pre-testing program - their way of opening the islands to visitors while keeping the residents safe. The pre-testing program starts October 15th, 2020. While they have more Trusted Travel and Testing Partners for pre-testing and more guidance, this is still a confusing and ever changing program.

This video is about Hawaii Travel Requirements in 2021 and July Update on Hawaii testing 72 hours.
So if you are planning to travel to Hawaii after the 8th Of July 2021 then Yay! with the latest updates fully vaccinated travellers from the mainland are exempted from pre-travel testing.
You have to upload the CDC vaccination card to your Safe Travels account and carry it with you.
Interisland hopping is now free from pre-travel testing. And whenever they will reach 70% vaccination the whole safe travels program will be scrapped.
If you are not vaccinated, then you will require a COVID -ve report. And Tests are specific (NAAT) tests and only are accepted from Hawaii Trusted Travel Partners whose list you can check from the link.

Traveling to Hawaii and trying to figure out what the current Hawaii travel restrictions are? Well I got you! With things constantly changing you want to be sure you are staying up to date by visting On this site you will be able to find out who, when, and where you can take the required Covid-19 test in order to enter Hawaii without having to self quarantine for 10 days.
The state of Hawaii has very specific requirements when it comes to the type of Covid test that you need to take. They also only allow the test to be conducted by a trusted partner so what does that mean? It means you have to choose a provider from the trusted partners list which can be found on the Safe Travels website. In this video I will walk you step by step showing you how to create an account, where you can take the test, and most importantly how to get all your documents uploaded and process in time to catch your flight to the beautiful state of Hawaii. 2021 Travel Restrictions are always changing so I advise you to check out the state travel site before you book your trip and be in the know of all the state requirments as things may be very different in your home state/country. If you are considering taking a trip to Hawaii and worried about the testing and process to get there, do not let any of that discourage you from going. It is possible. The process might appear a little confusing, but these tips should help you out.
Remember! Don't board that plane without results from your test.
Most people are concerned with the timeline for testing because you need to take a test within 72 hours of your departure. This is worrisome because it can take a couple of days to get your test results back. If you board the airplane without test results, Hawaii will automatically put you on quarantine even if you get a negative result after you land in Hawaii.

How to Avoid Pet Quarantine in Hawaii | Cost for Airport Release, How Long it Takes & Our Experience
A year ago, we brought our dog to Hawaii. The process to avoid pet quarantine took us 6-months but it was worth it to have our dog move to Hawaii with us.
We walk you through the process so you can avoid pet quarantine with this 5 step checklist.
This is what we learned - from timeline to costs to things to avoid
First, we recommend bringing your dog or pet to Hawaii if you are moving here full-time. The Hawaiian islands are a rabies-free area, the only rabies-free state in the union. And we all want to keep it that way. Hawaii has a rigorous process to enable direct airport release instead of forcing your dog into a 6-month quarantine once they arrive in Hawaii.
So to bring your dog to #Hawaii and avoiding quarantine requires a microchip, rabies vaccines, bloodwork, and paperwork (so much paperwork). If you love your pet, it is all worth it so they can avoid 6-months in pet quarantine.

HAWAII IS NOW OPEN: Everything YOU Need to Know To Go
What you need to know to visit Hawaii with the new pre-testing program. Hawaii just reopened for quarantine-free travel on October 15, 2020. In this video I'll cover: All about the tests and how to get them, what do to with your test results, differences in the rules on the different islands, inter-island travel & layovers, mask rules, and what’s open when you get to Hawaii. Travelers aged 5 and older need to have a negative COVID-19 test performed with 72 hours of their flights departure time to Hawaii. What kind of test do you need? You’ll need to get tested from one of Hawaii’s “approved” partners. You can find the full list here:
The tests range from “free” to $250. Average prices are around $130. Typically more expensive depending upon how soon you want to get the results.
Currently the approved testing partners are located in the Mainland of the USA, Japan, and Hawaii for inter-island travel testing. Many airlines are also offering testing.
UPDATE AS OF DEC 2: Kauai is no longer participating in the pre-testing program. ALL TRAVELERS TO KAUAI MOST QUARANTINE for 14 days STARTING DEC 2, 2020.
UPDATE AS OF NOV 24: Negative test result from a trusted testing partner before your departure to the State of Hawai‘i, in order to bypass the 14-day quarantine. You may not wait for test results then get out of quarantine. If you don't have a negative test result before you depart on your flight you may still travel to Hawaii, but then you must quarantine for 14 days.
