Fjällräven - Winter Outdoors: How to manage the tent-night in winter

In this video, we show you how you can make your tent-night in winter conditions as comfortable as possible. Having a good night's sleep in winter is actually quite easy. Just remember our tips and you'll be fine!

For some general tips on getting a good night’s sleep in a tent, go to

How An EMERGENCY Blanket Almost KILLED me! | Winter Camping FAIL!

Emergency blankets. You know all about them right? WRONG! Using one of these in the wrong ways at the wrong time could prove fatal... BELIEVE ME!

*NOTE*: What I describe in this video was NOT an emergency survival situation! The advice given is my own PERSONAL experience for trying to stay COMFORTABLE in the backcountry. In an emergency situation ensure you have the skills and knowledge of what to do and how to properly use your gear (including when to get an emergency blanket RIGHT NEXT TO A PERSON'S SKIN) and listen to experts (which I am NOT).

↢↤↢↤ BONUS TIP ↦↣↦↣
Vapour barriers can actually be incredibly effective to keep a person both warm AND dry. By limiting the amount of evaporation, you can limit the amount of heat loss, while allowing for more conscious nuanced decisions about personal thermoregulation. My favourite backpacking YouTuber (Jason THEBestBackpacker) talks about this concept at 3:52 in this video: For MORE information on Vapour Barriers Read Andrew Skurka's write up here:

Camp Cold: How to Sleep in the Cold

People assume that because I spend so much time in cold environments that I love being cold. The reality is quite the opposite and the goal of any of my winter adventures is to stay comfortable and warm.

Winter camping and sleeping in the cold can be very intimidating. Therefore, I created the CAMP COLD winter camping 'how to' video series to pass along the hard-won knowledge from the past 20 years of polar expeditions.

This first episode covers the skills, techniques and equipment that you will need to sleep warm and cozy no matter how low the thermometer drops.

One final note: the coldest temperature I've ever slept outside in winter was -55 degrees Fahrenheit (ambient) and I was toasty the whole night. Please add your coldest night out to the comments.

Thanks for watching and always remember it's cool to be cold (but really warm).

Think Snow!

Sleeping Bags Vs Quilts seems to be dividing people. Some people like sleeping bags, and some people like quilts. Both are great for sleeping outside with pros and cons to both. I talk about some of the reasons I prefer quilts as well as showing how quilts can be used even in cold weather.
