Foreigners Can Pay Like Indians Now! India's Amazing UPI

Did you know you don't have to use cash or credit cards when you travel to India? Now foreign tourists can load foreign currency into a digital wallet when they arrive at the airport. This technology is called UPI (Unified Payment Interface) and is India's impressive instant real-time payment system.

Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is a real-time payment system developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) that facilitates inter-bank transactions. It allows users to transfer money from one bank account to another instantly and securely, without the need for the recipient's bank details like account number or IFSC code.

With UPI, users can make payments using their mobile phones, without the need for cash, credit/debit cards or net banking. UPI transactions can be initiated and completed using mobile apps provided by banks or third-party payment service providers.

UPI has become a popular mode of payment in India since its launch in 2016 and is now widely used for a variety of transactions, including peer-to-peer payments, bill payments, mobile recharges, and online shopping. The success of UPI has helped promote digital payments and financial inclusion in the country.

The LEAST Liveable Iconic Cities In The World

There are tens, if not hundreds of cities around the world which could be classed as iconic.

There is no particularly official definition for what qualifies a city to be iconic, but it is generally determined by how well known or desirable it is to visit or live in.

Even if a city is iconic, it doesn’t necessarily mean it is a nice city, or specifically a nice city to live in.

In this video we will take a look at some of the world's least liveable iconic cities.

Are “Pronatalist” Countries Pronatalist in the Same Way?

A Fuzzy Set Ideal Type Analysis of “Extrinsic” Child Benefits in 10 European Countries

A SSEES Research Student Seminar with Kristijan Fidanovski

After a long period of rapid growth, the global population is expected to start shrinking in the second half of the 21st century. Many developed countries already exhibit fertility rates lower than the replacement level of 2.1 children per woman. In Eastern Europe, depopulation is further exacerbated by emigration: eight of the ten fastest-shrinking countries in the world are East European. Depopulation is causing concerns about the sustainability of pension and health systems in the short to medium term and the viability of countries and nations in the long term, leading policymakers to undertake various pronatalist interventions.

Against this backdrop, this research proposes the term “extrinsic pronatalism” in reference to child benefits that sometimes exceed the financial cost of raising children and conflict with the distribution of said costs throughout childhood and between birth orders. By drawing attention to a third distinct type of pronatalist policies, it seeks to challenge their dichotomous classification into liberal and illiberal policies that either facilitate or impose parenthood.

Empirically, it conducts a Fuzzy Set Ideal Type Analysis (FSITA) of child benefits for four birth orders in low-income and middle-income model households in ten European countries with a self-declared pronatalist orientation. It finds evidence of “high extrinsicness” in four of them (Belarus, Hungary, Serbia, and Portugal) and “moderate extrinsicness” in another four. These findings pose several implications for future trends in pronatalist policy, child spending, and the income effects of parenthood.

This event was recorded on 14 March 2022.

Worst Airports and Airlines for Delays - 10 Travel Tips on Flight Disruption

2022 summer travel is mad! Long queues, delays, cancellations, and missing baggage. Sharing with you the latest data on the most delayed airlines and airports around the world. Think twice before you travel!

Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) had the highest number of flight cancellations in Europe after its pilots went on a strike. The troubled airline has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the US. Eurowings is another carrier that has cancelled about 8% of their flights last minute.

Toronto Pearson Airport saw the most flight delays in North America, followed by Dallas Fort Worth and New York-JFK. 46% of Air Canada flights ran late. In the last 30 days, an average of one out of five flights a day arrived behind schedule in the U.S.

I am also sharing some useful tips on how to travel these days. Fly in the morning on non-stop flights, bring only carry-on bags, download airline apps, knowing your rights and being patient are some of the key takeaways to survive delays and cancellations.

At the end of the video, an aviation expert talked about when we will expect a smoother travel experience and how to fix the current problem.

Top 10 CITIES Switzerland: Most beautiful Swiss Places – The Highlights [Travel Guide]

Switzerland is full of beautiful cities! They are urban, vibrant and very happening. Although Switzerland is a small country, the diversity among the cities is very noticeable. The architecture, the art and the culture differ a lot from city to city. You will find the cities of Switzerland by the river, lake or even in the valleys. Each city has its unique appearance as well as its hotspots and attractions of where to go to.
Sion is the capital of the very touristy canton of Valais (Wallis). Interestingly, Sion is only little known but ranks easily among the most beautiful cities of Switzerland. Sion feels like being in Italy but is a French-speaking city. Sion is vibrant, full of street art and also a foodie hub. The most remarkable however are the two castles up on the hills. Lugano is the largest city of Ticino in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland. Lugano lays by the lake, surrounded by the Swiss Alps, and one can feel that Italy is quite near. Lugano charms with its many alleys, culture, lake promenade and its view points. The best view over the surrounding and the city of Lugano you can get at the Monte Brè or Monte San Salvatore. Basel is the hub for the pharmaceutical industry. Basel is an old city and full of culture. It’s important to explore the many alleys with their colorful houses, see the red city hall, the minster and cross the bridges. Basel has a strong connection to its traditions. Important to mention here are the Vogelgryff and the Morgestraich. Bern is the federal city (capital) of Switzerland and the only town that is considered UNESCO world heritage. Very typical for Bern are the many arcades and the fountains. Bern’s old city is really a highlight, thus make sure to spend here at least half a day. Neuchâtel is in the French-speaking part of Switzerland, a town that feels Mediterranean and sort of French/Italian. The highlight of Neuchâtel are the lake promenade, the graffiti alley and the collegiate church with the castle. Schaffhausen is probably the largest and best preserved old city in Switzerland. Schaffhausen’s old town charms with its colorful houses and oriel windows (balcony windows). Schaffhausen is easy to explore by walk it’s pretty much car-free. The best things to do in and around Schaffhausen are a visit to the Museum zu Allerheiligen, walking at the Vordergasse alley, going up to the Munot and seeing the nearby Rhinefalls. The Munot is a centre for culture and hosts various events. Zurich is the largest city in all of Switzerland. It’s the hub for innovation and business but at the same time is a very touristy destination. Zurich’s old city concentrates around the Limmat quay. Walk along the river Limmat, enter the many protestant churches or head up to the Lindenhof and Polyterrase to enjoy a great vista over the old city of Zurich. Zurich is modern but also very cultural; the major event being the Sechseläuten festival. Fribourg is a city on two levels. The old city of perfectly preserved and thus great to explore. Ascend the church tower of the St. Nicolas cathedral or the Loretta chapel to enjoy a brilliant vista. Fribourg city has also some similarities with Luxemburg. Solothurn is the most beautiful baroque city of Switzerland. The old town is full of beautiful houses and concentrates around the river Aare. The major landmark is the St. Urseren Cathedral that offers you a great view from its tower. Lucerne is no doubt the most beautiful of the Top 10 Swiss Cities. Lucerne has been a favorite for many tourists since it offers so many great things such as a charming river promenade along the Reuss, a great view over Lake Lucerne (Vierwaldstättersee) and the Swiss Alps and otherwise seems very inviting with its alleys and painted houses. Lucerne’s best attractions are the Jesuitenkirche, Gletschergarten museum and many more. Explore Lucerne on the water by taking a boat ride or head up to Mount Pilatus to get a perfect vista over the Swiss Alps and this old city.

1:35 UK’s Traffic Light System: Countries Predicted to be Removed from the Red List

The highly anticipated new set of travel rules in the United Kingdom will be announced on 1 October, according to a recent briefing by Health Secretary Sajid Javid.

Before any changes, UK Transport Secretary Grant Shapps is expected to make the latest announcement on what countries will be moved to the red, amber, and green lists later this week.

South Africa and a host of other countries could soon be taken off the UK’s travel ‘red list’.

2:17 Countries Likely to be Moved from Red List

With the upcoming changes in the travel rules, media outlets report that the red list would remain.

Appearing on the red list is an effective travel ban for the countries listed, as the UK will only allow entry only to British and Irish Nationals arriving from these high-risk countries.

Additionally, upon entry into the UK, travellers from the red list
countries must quarantine in government-managed hotels at their own expense.

In recent weeks, dozens of companies have appealed to UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson to remove South Africa from the red list.
..

3:42 Upcoming Changes on UK Travel

UK Health Secretary Sajid Javid is reportedly set to introduce a new framework for international travel to and from the UK in the coming weeks, which includes requirements for PCR tests and a ‘significant cut’ to
the red list.

There are currently 62 countries on the UK’s ‘red list and local travel agencies and consultancies have indicated that as many as 24 countries could be removed from the list.
...
