TRAVELING TO RIGA, LATVIA ???????? (Our First Impressions!)

WELCOME TO RIGA, LATVIA! We were so stoked to travel to Riga, because we'll be staying in this beautiful city for 2 weeks! This is by far the longest we've stayed anywhere since we started traveling, so we're excited to explore the city and have a little bit of consistency.

After arriving in Riga at night, we then headed to our Airbnb to check in and grab a quick bite to eat. The next day, we spent the day exploring Riga Old Town (which is SO beautiful) and trying Latvian chocolate and a traditional Latvian liqueur called Black Balsam.

Overall, Riga looks like an amazing city and we are so excited to explore even more.

Thanks so much for watching! Don’t forget to like and subscribe :)

Riga Airport to the City Centre - Latvia - what's the cheapest and best way to make that journey?

Flying into Riga International Airport and you may be wondering what is the best way to get to the city centre? Well, look no further. In this video, I show you how easy it is to get to the centre of Riga (Latvia). This is How to get from Riga Airport to the City Centre!

It turns out you can get bus 22 and also bus 322 - Total cost 2 Euros! A taxi will cost you roughly 10/15 Euros.

I’m documenting a lot of travel lately simply for prosperity purposes - Its fantastic that I can share those experiences also via YouTube.

How To Have An Amazing Day In Riga, Latvia

Riga, Latvia is a popular stop on a Baltic cruise and there's a lot you can see in one day. In this video, we spend the day exploring Riga for the first time and seeing all the top attractions the city has to offer. We begin at Dome Square in the heart of the Old Town and head down a skinny street of stars to St. Peter's Church, which is almost as old as the city of Riga itself. Next we stop for some good luck at the Bremen Town Musicians, one of the most popular places to take a photo in the city. Next is House of the Blackheads, an absolutely gorgeous merchant house that has been a pillar of Riga society for centuries. You can see the medieval cellars and gloriously rebuilt exterior. Right outside, don't miss the marker dedicated to Riga's first Christmas tree too! Later we go to Riga's Central Market, which is the largest market in Europe - yes, all of Europe. One glimpse will tell you why: it's housed in five repurposed Zeppelin hangars. Extremely unique and a must see in Riga. Visit the Centrālais Food Court here for great food options that are cheaper than you'll typically find around the Old Town. To end the night, we head to a subterranean restaurant called Rozengrāls that has been around since 1293! Here you'll find the city's first well, caverned ceilings, and everything lit by candles. We try Riga Black Balsam, a traditional and much beloved Latvian drink with a secret recipe. It was once used to cure Catherine the Great of an ailment! This place oozes atmosphere and fun and we highly recommend a visit.

6 Things NOT To Do in Latvia!

Latvia is a small country with a population of less than two million. While people are generally relaxed and tranquil there are some things which will offend. Here are 6 Things Not To Do in Latvia!

1. Don’t mention the Russians!
Latvia has a complex relationship with Russia. Many Latvians feel the Russians don’t accept them as their own independent country and many Russians living there don,t feel accepted as Latvians. Neither like an ignorant tourist voicing their opinion about it!

2. Don’t ignore their language!
The Latvian language was suppressed during the Russian occupation so try to learn some simple words.
Sveiki (hello)
Ardievas (goodbye)
Paldies (thanks).
They know they’re never going to be a global language but they really appreciate you trying.

3. Don’t avoid the local dishes!
Latvians are proud of their culture and cuisine. Try the local dishes and beverages and give your opinion, especially if you like them. From fried garlic bread to fresh fruit jams, Latvia has a varied cuisine with excellent domestic beers.

4. Don’t be aggressive (unless you’re driving!)
Latvians generally have a calm and “each to his own” lookout on life so don’t be brash or too bold, unless you’re behind the wheel, then it really is each to his own!

5. Don’t turn up empty-handed!
If you get invited to someone’s house always bring an odd number of flowers, an even number is associated with death, some food or beverages
and remember to take your shoes off just inside the door.

6. Don’t disrespect nature!
Half of Latvia is still virgin forest. Most Latvians are nature lovers and still follow many pagan traditions. They will show you how to make crowns from flowers and tea from the local herbs. Join in respectfully and they will appreciate it.

World in 4K presents you Riga, the capital of Latvia and is home to 627,487 inhabitants (2020), which is a third of Latvia's population. Being significantly larger than other cities of Latvia, Riga is the country's primate city. It is also the largest city in the three Baltic states and is home to one-tenth of the three Baltic states' combined population. The city lies on the Gulf of Riga at the mouth of the Daugava river where it meets the Baltic Sea. Riga's territory covers 307.17 km2 (118.60 sq mi) and lies 1–10 m (3 ft 3 in–32 ft 10 in) above sea level, on a flat and sandy plain.

Riga was founded in 1201 and is a former Hanseatic League member. Riga's historical centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, noted for its Art Nouveau/Jugendstil architecture and 19th century wooden architecture.
Riga was the European Capital of Culture in 2014, along with Umeå in Sweden. Riga hosted the 2006 NATO Summit, the Eurovision Song Contest 2003, the 2006 IIHF Men's World Ice Hockey Championships and the 2013 World Women's Curling Championship. It is home to the European Union's office of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (BEREC). In 2017, it was named the European Region of Gastronomy.

SECRET TOUR OF THE KGB HOUSE | Riga Latvia

Riga, Latvia has become one of our favorite places this summer! We took a tour of the KGB House which has been turned into a museum. However after our tour, our guide took us to the untouched basement and upstairs of the house, and it was very spooky. This vlog also includes a local Latvian lunch of dumplings which we were charged by the weight, and a massive cup of coffee. Both SUPER affordable compared to what we've been paying in Iceland!

How Expensive is Riga, Latvia? ????????

Latvia, Riga: How Much Expensive is one of the Baltic capitals? I took an Air Baltic Flight to find out and I landed in Riga, where I took a bus to the city center and after a 5 minutes walk, I was at my hotel Rixwell Hotel Konventa Sēta. The price of the hotel was about 30€ per night, and I split it with my friend Giovanni that at the last minute couldn't come on this travel. I make about $3 or €3 every 5000 views, so the cost of this room, at least for me, is about 5000 views. Please, help reach 5000 views on this video ????
