Has MONTENEGRO Become Too Touristy? (Still Worth Going?)

In today's episode, we bring you along on our days in Montenegro. We spent a few days here as part of our Balkan road trip with two of our best friends in the world: Kaisa and Ameera❤️????????

We kept hearing so much about how amazing, secluded, and undiscovered Montenegro was before going, so we were excited to check it out for ourselves. Is it still an underrated and private beach destination?

Is Montenegro expensive? Well, it's a very high-end place, but not necessarily expensive. Watch the video to find out how and why.

Montenegro was country #74/197????

We started our Balkan road trip in Zagreb before driving down through the shockingly beautiful country of Bosnia and Herzegovina. After being absolutely spellbound by the beauty there, we moved on to country number two of the trip: Montenegro. We visited Budva, Kotor, Tivat and more!

Montenegro, Monthly cost to live in Montenegro

We bought a home near Tivat on Kotor Bay Montenegro. We slow travel the world, often called roaming retirement or roving retirement. We retired early and use Montenegro as our non-Schengen home base. Montenegro is an attractive and affordable alternative to the high prices in the US. If you own a home in Montenegro life can be very comfortable for the average American.

The average US Retiree on Social Security receives $1,800 a month, and a couple on Social Security averages over $2,800 a month. A US Expat living on Social Security can expect a great standard of living in many countries such as Turkey, Serbia, Bulgaria, Montenegro, Hungary, Poland, Spain, Italy, Philippines, Thailand, Ecuador, and many others when compared to the living costs in the US. If you dreamed of traveling as a nomad in retirement this video is for you.

What can €8 get you in Montenegro???

Is Montenegro expensive ? It's definitely cheaper than western Europe and also Croatia. But I wouldn't say it's very cheap like compared to other balkan countries it's quite expensive. But €8 could get me this which is alright isn't it ?? I reckon if you go to more countryside it gets cheaper !

Montenegro travel for CHEAP! Why you should plan your next trip during shoulder season ⬆️ #shorts

Check out our full length travel vlog on Montenegro on our channel to see rhebdull cost breakdown (spoiler alert: it’s CRAZY cheap!!!)

What IS shoulder season?? ⬇️

Shoulder season is arguably the BEST time to travel! It’s the period between the peak tourist season and the off-season of a destination. For example, shoulder season is typically spring and autumn (September - October) in Europe because peak season is summer and off-season is winter there.

… so the question is, WHY should you travel during shoulder season? ⬇️

So many reasons!

#1 - Fewer crowds! We all know the annoyance of visiting an amazing place and not being able to fully enjoy it because there’s always a big crowd getting in the way of the photos and overall experience. The beaches pictured here would be PACKED during the summer, but we had them all to ourselves instead! So tranquil.

#2 - Cheaper! Because there is less demand for accommodations, they typically will charge less, too. You can even reach out to the accommodation directly and inquire about an even cheaper rate if the booking is last minute and still available! In my experience, you’ll have much more luck with this during shoulder season than peak season, where they’ll have many full price offers.

#3 - More flexibility! Going off of the above, because things are less booked up, you’ll have more options with last minute stays and transportation. This is great because it allows you to extend your stay more easily if you’re enjoying it too much to leave! ????

#4 - Perfect weather! During the summer, the heat can get INTENSE, making your day walking around and exploring sticky and uncomfortable. Whereas the weather in autumn is perfect! In Europe, the sun is still out with temperatures ranging from 25-30 degrees Celsius in September and 20-25 degrees Celsius in October.
[Added bonus: you can see the leaves changing color in some epic places!]

Hope you enjoyed this lingo breakdown and will use the travel tip to save your money (and sanity ????) on your next trip!

Where to invest in real estate 2023?
The million dollar question. We are always searching for new locations, and having bought and sold over the years in multiple countries, we are now focused with multiple projects in Montenegro.

Why Montenegro?
We were searching for a foreign real estate market that is undervalued and has great multi-year appreciation potential. Montenegro is a breathtakingly beautiful small country, with only 600,000 inhabitants and slightly smaller than the state of Connecticut in the US. With low cost property options, taxes between 9% to 15% max (on capital gains and income), and a great legal infrastructure. It outperformed the other countries we compared it to in our analysis. Montenegro is in a unique situation where demand is rising rapidly as foreign investors jump on the opportunity, creating rapid appreciation for those investing now.

Why invest overseas?
Demand for offshore real estate has sky rocketed since the crisis, many people can now work remotely from home in beautiful places by the sea, people are looking to retire in the sun, and tourism is bouncing back strong. It's a great way to diversify risks in your real estate investment portfolio.

ABOUT US:
We specialize in investments in Real Estate in beautiful locations around the world that are at affordable costs, and can deliver short-term rental revenue and high capital appreciation. We’ve bought, sold, renovated or leased high-end properties or land in stunning locations, including the Swiss Alps, Costa Rica, the South of France, Sardinia, under the blue skies of Florida and Arizona, and now our focus is on Montenegro

We are currently specialized on Montenegro as we believe this is one of the best real estate markets in Europe. We've built a strong network in Montenegro of realtors, lawyers, notary, architects, and builders. We have other videos about our projects, make sure you subscribe to the channel to be kept up-to-date.
