Now that we have been RV Living Full Time for 6 months, we have found what products we truly need. One of them is a generator- whether you have solar or not.
We purchased our Honda EU2000i generator 16 years ago as Hurricane Charley was approaching our home in Central Florida. It kept us powered up for a week while our power was out. Since then it has gotten us through many extended power outages because of hurricanes. When we bought our First travel trailer in 2011, our honda generator was the perfect companion for our RV so we could dry camp.
In this video we will share our 16 year experience with this generator and its successor the EU2200i generator. We will cover these topics Important specifications, Maintenance, Storage, Connecting to an RV, extension cords, fuel cans, using it with a solar setup, and our overall 16 year impression.
We will also go over the baby brother to the EU2000/EU2200, the EU1000i generator and how that may be an excellent option.
If you are looking for portable generator, the Honda line of generators cant be beat, but they are not the cheapest generator on the market, you get what you pay for.

Honda 2000 vs Champion 2000 Inverter Generator Comparison
The Honda 2000 watt inverter generator is the gold standard of inverter generators. Many companies have been releasing their own version to compete with Honda. We just purchased a new Champion 2000 watt inverter generator and decided to compare it with my father in laws Honda. The units are very similar and run in parallel with another 2000 watt unit. When paralleled they can put out near 3700 watts to power your entire RV.

RVers and generators that run off propane go hand in hand. An RV always has propane on hand so why carry around a can of gas if you don't need to? Unfortunately, Honda does not offer a dual fuel inverter generator. So for us Honda lovers, the only option is to take matters in to our own hands and install a propane conversion kit.

The Honda 2000 generator is one of the most used generators by RVers. It is quiet and energy efficient. The generator can run up to 8 hours on just one tank of gas!

The Honda 2000i is a lightweight generator with 2000 watts of power. It runs off of gasoline but, with a converter kit, can also run with natural gas. At an operating sound level of 53-59dcb, the generator is super quiet as well.
We've been using our Honda 2000 for over a year and love its portability and functionality. On a hot summer day it has enough power to run our rooftop AC unit. As avid boondockers, we can top off our batteries every night while getting 8 hours of operation time with a single gallon of gas.
Overall this generator has been an essential piece of equipment in our full time RV life.

Run Your Air Conditioner with Solar and Honda EU2200i Generator
Yes! You can run your air conditioner with solar and propane generator if needed. A soft start device is recommended too.
We are on a 2 month summer trip and stopped overnight at a Harvest Host...Stensland Family Farms in Iowa. I decided to whip out the generator to help compensate for end of day solar and to help run air conditioner longer.

This video is a sound test of the Honda Eu2000i. During this test we will utilize a db meter taking readings from 9ft as well as 30ft. The initial tests are taken with the generator in Econo Throttle, without Econo Throttle and under a load at 9ft then again at 30ft. The load used during the test is a 1725 watt 2 PVC bender and an LED flood light. This generator is rated at 1600 running watts, so we are slightly over the rated load. This generator is highly recommended for camping, rving and job sites.

Pairing two Harbor Freight 2000 watt Predator generators
