Japan travel guide to what to do and eat in Miyajima, Hiroshima in a day!
Hiroshima is near the bottom of the main island Honshu and a must visit when coming to Hiroshima is the island Itsukushima, more popularly known as Miyajima. It’s one of Japan’s top 3 scenic sights, most famous for its giant torii gate, which at high tide seems to float on the water.
Miyajima island is also a great place for a day trip from the Kansai region like Kyoto and Osaka but I would recommend staying in Hiroshima for a few days to explore Hiroshima city and another day for Miyajima island.
I started my trip off at Hiroshima station and took a 25 minute train ride to JR Miyajima-guchi station.
From there it’s less than a 5 minute walk to the ferry terminal where you will take a 10 minute ferry ride to go to Miyajima island.

THE MOST MAGICAL ISLAND IN JAPAN | Miyajima Travel Guide
When visiting Hiroshima, it is a MUST to visit the incredible island of Miyajima, known as the 'Island Where God Lives'. From the cute deer who are waiting to welcome you as soon as your arrive, to the delicious traditional restaurants and shops on Omote Sando Street, to the jaw dropping views you get from the top of Mt Misen, there is something for everyone on this beautiful island. Ideally I would recommend staying overnight at a local Ryokan, but a day trip is also a great way to visit, just make sure you leave quite early in the morning if you plan on climbing up and down the mountain. 2 days in Hiroshima | Day trip to Miyajima Island, Hiking Mt Misen, Food, and Bars
We had a mere 48 hours in Hiroshima and we fell in love with the city pretty much immediately. The food was delicious, but more importantly, the people were some of the nicest we met on this entire trip. We had front row seats to watching an expert okonomiyaki chef, visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial park and museum, ate Hiroshima style tsukemen, drank locally-made sake and more. We even took a day trip to Miyajima island, hiked the gorgeous Mt. Misen, and ate some more. I really can't recommend this city enough and will be coming back here again someday soon.

I traveled to Hiroshima and it was better than I expected (Japan travel vlog)
After 4 days in Osaka, we traveled to Hiroshima, Japan & it was not what I expected! Hiroshima is our second destination on our 2-week trip around Japan. Hiroshima is of course known for the devastating happenings in 1945 when it was hit by the atomic bomb, but today Hiroshima is a vibrant city & definitely worth visiting.
During our 3 days in Hiroshima, we visited the Peace Memorial Park and Museum, went on a day trip to Miyajima Island from Hiroshima to see the famous Itsukushima Shrine and loads of wild deer. We also ate delicious food, including okonomiyaki & oysters (for the first time!!).

We were sad when we saw the Atomic Bomb Dome, our hearts pounded when we saw the nuclear attack survivors and heard their stories, but we smiled when we saw how Hiroshima and the people have bounced back and leading peaceful lives.
In this Japan travel guide, we will show you what to do in Miyajima, Hiroshima in a day!
Hiroshima is a city on a big island called Honshu in Japan. A really cool place to see near Hiroshima is an island called Itsukushima, also known as Miyajima. It's one of the best places to visit in Japan. The biggest attraction there is a huge gate called O-Torii gate. When the tide is high, it looks like it's floating on the water.
Miyajima island is also a great place for a day trip from the Kansai region like Kyoto and Osaka, and we planned our day trip to Hiroshima from Osaka.
We started our day trip from Osaka on a bullet train ride to Hiroshima and then took another 25-minute train ride to JR Miyajima-guchi station. From there it’s less than a 5-minute walk to the ferry terminal where you will take a 10-minute JR ferry ride to Miyajima Island.

Day Trip To Miyajima Hiroshima In Fall | Japan Itinerary
Hiiiii, I'm back with some more Japan content for you! You all must visit Miyajima in the fall if you get the chance! We did a day trip to this island from Hiroshima Peace Park. One day was definitely not enough, but if you're looking for a beautiful unique experience in Japan, I highly recommend it! You can take a round trip ferry for about ~4000¥ and it'll take about 45 minutes one-way. Highlights of Miyajima are Itsukushima Shrine, momiji manju(snack shaped as maple leaf), and Mt. Misen. We had a one in a lifetime chance during lowtide and were able to walk under Itsukushima Shrine! If you enjoyed this video please share and give it a thumbs up! 48 hours on Miyajima island, Japan
In this video we leave our camper van in Hiroshima to spend 48 hours on Miyajima island with @sharlainjapan and Mark. We start by touring the island on a rickshaw, try grilled eel - a specialty of the island, and wake up early to see the Itsukushima shrine at sunrise. Absolutely loved Miyajima! And it was one of the highlights of our whole 3 month trip ✨

We are Dominic and Emma. Travelling together as a couple for the last 10 years, we started off backpacking through South East Asia and in 2016 began vanlife as a means to travel with our pug, Percy. Since then, we have slowly been upgrading; from our first self-build micro-camper Renault Kangoo to our Mercedes Sprinter LWB, and now our Fiat Ducato Hymer Swing Motorhome. Vanlife allows us to not only travel with our dog, but experience travelling through places and enjoying the journey, not just the destination. We are advocates for not allowing financial circumstance to be a barrier to travel. Instead we know there is Always Away!

Today we’re showing you Japan’s BEST day trip, Miyajima! In this Japan travel log, we’ll show you our top 5 things to do in Miyajima. We show you Miyajima’s top tourist attractions and sights!
Miyajima is Japan’s perfect day trip, easily accessible from Hiroshima by train and ferry. Make sure to add Miyajima to your West Japan itinerary! It’s jammed packed full of Japanese history, with many stunning temples and shines all conveniently located within walking distance of the main port. Miyajima is famous for its floating Torii gate, and floating shrine, Itsukushima, as well as delicious momijimanju.
Miyajima is also famous for its deer, which live alongside humans and get up to mischief! The deer are very friendly but be careful with your belongings as they will try (successfully) to eat your things!
