Hiking in El Salvador | Safe to Hike during Rainy Season?

While exploring El Salvador I was really interested in hiking the Santa Ana volcano. This incredibly active volcano has an emerald lake at the top of it. An EMERALD-colored lake! The volcano sits at roughly 7,500ft high and is a must while in El Salvador according to a bunch of locals that I met. But, we had heard that it could be an issue as it may not be safe to hike during rainy season.

But, without considering our own safety, my buddy @silvioholdener and I decided we were going to make the 2 hour one-way bus trek to hike the volcano. But oh boy, did the hike have some other plans for us!
Let’s just say it was an epic fail. One that will go down in the history books. The police were involved. It wasn’t pretty...

Cinquera Nature Reserve (WAR history) El Salvador Travel Series.

In this episode we visit the Cinquera Nature Reserve and learn about the war history of El Salvador.

Cinquera is located approximately 20 minutes drive from Suchitoto and the area was affected a lot by the civil war. It was very interesting and we got the opportunity to ask his questions and our tour guide Josue from Suchitoto Adventure Outfitters translated for us.

We hiked thought the jungle and learned about what life was like in the jungle and saw their hospital and a Vietnamese kitchen. We finished the tour visiting the town of Cinquera.

We really enjoyed this tour and if you want more information check out Suchitoto Adventure Outfitters web site

The Outdoor Industry's Dirty Secret - How to Stay Dry Backpacking

Want to know how to stay dry while backpacking? There is more to it than a high quality rain jacket and pants. Because even the most expensive rain gear can fail and experience what is known as Wet Out. Wet out is the complete saturation of the outer layer of your rain gear that prevents your jacket from preforming the way that it should. Wet Out can occur in rain jackets, rain pants, tents, rain covers, tarps and more. But it can also be prevented by following this one huge tip for backpacking in the rain. Check out how you can stay dry and prevent wet out the next time you are backpacking.

The WORST things about the AZORES???

Part 2: Part 2: The WORST things about the Azores

Hello friends. Welcome to the Azores. I received an interesting question - on what would I say the worst things about the Azores are.
In this video, first, we are going to talk about what tourists find the most annoying on the Azores (from what I have heard from them the most) and then, a couple of things to consider if you are planning to move here full time.

To have the best information on the weather, the best is to check out the following website:

Last year, when I was traveling around the archipelago, I used the following company for ferries:
There are other companies as well but they are the only ones with whom I have an experience. You can see the details on routes on the website.

The opinions expressed in the second half of the video are mostly personal and therefore I would like to ask you to respect it. If you would like to share your opinion, I would be more than happy to hear/read it!

Or is there anything else you would like to add/recommend/discuss? Please feel free to reach out either here, on instagram or on my e-mail. I am excited to hear back from you.

Take care and wishing you a great day,

Noemi

A Leopard attacking a provocative photographer in the Maasai Mara National Reserve

A leopard attacking a provocative photographer in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya. This photographer, who either chose to ignore the park rules or just was not briefed correctly, risked his life as a leopard tried to grab his foot.

As you can clearly tell, this vicious leopard was not very impressed and would have harmed the photographer. Even through leopard attacking people is rare, this is not to mean that you should play around with an leopard while on a safari. In fact, the best thing a guide should do when any wildlife gets so close to a tourist vehicle is to move away.

The management of Maasai Mara National Reserve, Kenya has already banned the camp and the guides who allowed this photographer to get involved in the would-be unfortunate encounter with a leopard.

El Salvador has had an interesting if not troubling history in the past few decades. But despite that, it has remained a tourist destination because of its abundance of amazing natural beauty, old-world culture, wildlife, and more. And, what might be most surprising to hear… El Salvador has become world famous for being an incredible place for surfing! In this video, we take you through some of the best things to do and see in El Salvador.

Despite it being a small place, we chose to split up the video into three sections – each is dedicated to a separate region of the country. But fortunately, the country is small and accessible enough so that you don’t have to choose only one or two of these regions. You can easily spend time in all of them, engaging in all types of fun and sun-soaked activities. El Salvador is also known for having many volcanoes. Some of them you can drive in, some you can hike on, and some you can admire from nearby. And the country is full of verdant hills, beautiful jungles, and a huge variety of wildlife, especially birds.

Nature lovers will absolutely adore traveling around El Salvador. As well foodies, as the country offers authentic, tasty, and hearty food that will make your mouth water. All in all, it’s a fantastic place to visit. And while we couldn’t possibly cover all of the best things to do, we picked our favorites to get you started. So stay tuned, as Viewcation presents: Best Things to Do in El Salvador!

Hiking the Cerro Verde Volcano, El Salvador Vlog 09

Hi sweet friends! and welcome back to my channel. On today's episode, I take you with me as we hike the Cerro Verde Crater. To get there, we needed to travel to The Cerro Verde National Park in El Salvador which is about 1.5 hours away from the city of San Salvador. The park is a natural protected area with three volcanoes, a great climate, incredible views, and beautiful trails for exploring the diverse species of flora and fauna here in El Salvador.

In this video, we decided to take the easier hike which was about 45 minutes long along the old crater of the Cerro Verde Volcano. We were joined by an incredibly knowledgable guide who shared with us the history of this place.
On the hike you will stop and see the Santa Ana volcano and the Coatepeque lake. I also share some stunning views of the Izalco volcan which I hope to be able to hike while in El Salvador.

I hope you enjoy this video and thank you for the continued support. I am so excited to continue to share my adventures with you in this beautiful country!

El Cajon Mountain with Ela at Night in a Rain Storm

Late Sunday night during a big rain storm, my dog, Ela, and I went for a 10 mile hike up El Cajon Mountain in San Diego, CA. We nearly summitted, but I decided to turn back when Ela sat down on the trail and shot me those cute little eyes of hers.

A great hike to be repeated in good weather and after a bit more training for Ela.
