ORPHIE 29 - Pocket-Sized Electric Trimaran For Day Sailing - Multihulls World

► Designers Jean Marc Piaton and Clément Bercault have created a trimaran powered by a 50 kW Torqeedo Deep Blue electric motor. Thanks to its moderate displacement and especially the narrowness of its hulls, this multihull can maintain a cruising speed of 10 to 12 knots with a range of 30 nautical miles. The Orphie 29 has been designed to accommodate 6 to 10 people: the table of 6’7” x 2’8” (200 x 80) cm is in the shade and can accommodate the whole crew while the trampolines will be great for hanging out in the sunshine. Inside, a mini-cabin: this space is dedicated mostly to storage but there’s a small bunk that could be used by a child, and there’s also a toilet. This trimaran is simple, elegant and integrates sustainable and environmentally friendly materials in its plywood epoxy construction. That said, for the sake of keeping it light and rigid, the linking arms are made of carbon. There will be a full test in a forthcoming issue of Multihulls World.

SPIRIT, 115' 2005/16 New Zealand Yachts Wavepiercer Power Catamaran
SPIRIT is a New Zealand dual-hull Wavepiercer Catamaran built to ABS Maltese Cross A1Y classifications. She was refitted in 2016 with new hull paint, overhauled Cat 3412E's, etc. Her Ken Freivokh interior design gives her exceptional interior volume, spacious deck areas and walk-around decks. Two canted counter balanced rudders are fitted allowing for trimming of the vessel, reducing the roll of the vessel when turning.
Accommodations are expansive with (5) staterooms for up to (12) guests including a full beam master suite on upper deck, (2) Queens staterooms and (2) twins which can convert to king berths, all with ensuite baths. Large captain's cabin with full berth on main deck along with crew quarters for (10) below deck.The main deck salon features lounge seating, game table, bar and dining table to starboard. The salon has ample amount of natural light and views through large picture windows.
The sundeck has a U-shaped bar, flybridge helm station forward, sun pads aft and versatile deck areas for gym equipment, BBQ grill. A spiral staircase port aft leads down to the bridge deck aft, which is the private terrace for the owner's staterooms with bar and seating. On the forward deck is large seating area with Jacuzzi. A unique feature is her hydraulic submersible swim platform for tender/toys.Powered by Caterpillar 3412E engines, with a cruising speed of 12 kts topping out at 18 kts. She is equipped with Northern Light 65KW Generators, bow thrusters, upgraded Furuno radars, 18' Brig tender plus much more!
