The world's weirdest creatures

Nature has many weird creatures to offer and often these animals fascinate us the most. There are ants in Australia's outback that use specialised workers as living honey pots.

In Africa in the endless Bangweulu wetlands of Zambia the shoebill is on the hunt for fish, a bird that definitely lives up to its name.

Finally in the Brazilian rainforests lurk gruesome river monsters in the Amazon abyss that send shivers down the spine of even the most experienced divers.

But there are also intense human-animal-relationships like the close bond between a German diver and a dolphin female who explore the Atlantic off the coast of Ireland, or the easy rider in California who has taken care of an African elephant bull for more than 25 years.

Weird! is a breath-taking journey to visit animals around the globe who are somehow different.

Inside the 1996 Everest Disaster - Ken Kamler

Watch full video at:

Dr. Kenneth Kamler recalls his harrowing experience on a climb towards the summit of Mt. Everest in 1996 when a lethal 2-day storm kicked up. The event, documented by writer Jon Krakauer in his bestselling book Into Thin Air, would lead to the deaths of eight climbers and leave several others -- including Kamler -- stranded and fighting for their lives.

In this presentation, Kamler explores the effects of the disaster, the rescue, and the relentless drive of human survival.

EG is the celebration of the American entertainment industry. Since 1984, Richard Saul Wurman has created extraordinary gatherings about learning and understanding. EG is a rich extension of these ideas - a conference that explores the attitude of understanding in music, film, television, radio, technology, advertising, gaming, interactivity and the web - The Entertainment Gathering

Kenneth Ken Kamler is a microsurgeon and mountain climber. Kamler was chosen by New York Magazine as one of New York City's best doctors in 2002. He is a microsurgeon trained at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center who also practices extreme medicine in the most remote corners of the world. He has served as chief high altitude physician for the NASA-sponsored research in human physiological responses to extreme altitude.

As covered in the book Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer, in May 1996, Kamler was at Camp III on Mount Everest preparing for a summit attempt when a ferocious storm engulfed three teams of climbers returning from the peak. As the only doctor on the mountain when the storm hit, he treated the survivors as they descended from Camp IV.

A climber and doctor on many Everest expeditions, he has worked with National Geographic to carry out geological research and precision mapping using laser telescopes and global positioning satellite beacons. He appeared on ABC's Nightline in the first-ever live interview from Everest base camp. and has appeared many times on national television. Kamler lives in the New York City area.

They risk their lives in Peru - One of the world's most dangerous ways to school

Lake Titicaca is the largest lake in South America and the highest navigable body of water. Here Bolivia and Peru meet. According to legends, the Incan civilization originated on its banks. A magical place, but today only the many temple ruins in the region give attest to the once high culture of the past.

What is left are the Uro; an ancient people, described at times as the only decedents of the Incas. They are the people of the floating islands, a very small community of about 2000 with a community consisting of fifty swimming islands. Every day from the furthest corners, the youngest inhabitants paddle their way in their small boats to school.

Ronald lives on one of the furthest island from school. His school way takes him every day around three hours of paddling on the lake full of fish. The lake with its wealth of fish and seafood, delivers the dietary basis of the Islanders, while the school offers the children hope for future.

Why Is the ‘Mona Lisa’ So Famous?

What’s so great about the Mona Lisa? Sure, she’s got that smile, but what makes her *the most famous painting in the world*? Well, Mona’s got a wild past—one that involves larceny, false allegations, Napoleon Bonaparte and Pablo Picasso. Here’s the story of how the Renaissance darling reached the big leagues.

This Great Big Story was inspired by Genesis.

The Frustration of Immigration Ep.154

A lot of The Pale King by David Foster Wallace is based around the psychical suffering that is inflicted on people who's job requires them to create or enforce arbitrary bureaucratic hurdles on civilians. The infliction of the inflictors. Trying to navigate the various webs of institutions and the idiosyncrasies of the people currently in charge or the particular island you find yourself on is my least favourite thing to do. I would rather be becalmed or trying to remove a hook from my nether regions.
I guess myself and Elayna are basically full time Immigrants.
We come from the land of the ice and snow
From the midnight sun, where the hot springs.. flow.
Ah ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhaaaa.

Cocos Island - The mysterious island in the Pacific - FULL VERSION!!

Unfortunately, the previously uploaded version was not complete: It aborts in minute 22. Here finally is the complete documentary.
Have fun with it! :)

Coconut Island protrudes from the Pacific Ocean as the peak of a lone volcano, far off the Costa Rican coast. At the end of the 18th century, the English author Robert Louis Stevenson is said to have received the inspiration for his novel „Treasure Island“ here.

The tiny island comprises just 25 sqm² and is covered by an impenetrable jungle. Numerous streams, waterfalls and gorges epitomise the world‘s largest uninhabited rain forest island. Due to its isolation, unique flora and fauna have developed here. Today, as a national park and world natural heritage, the island is closely supervised by park rangers.

The outstanding underwater world surrounding the island abounds with marine fauna of every description. Hardly any other destination is as well-known for its countless large fish varieties, especially hammerhead, reef and offshore sharks. The film‘s author submerged to depths up to 400 meters on board the „Deep Sea“, a modern research submarine. During the dive, he ucceeded in shooting material of rare deep sea fish and shark species, which have never before been sighted near Coconut Island.

Shimshal Village Tour near Pakistan China Border 2020

Shimshal Village Tour near Pakistan China Border. I am traveling in Pakistan by Road. in this video, Shimshal Village Tour. The Shimshal Village is located in the Shimshal valley of district Hunza Nagar in Gilgit Baltistan. It is a border village that connects the Gilgit-Baltistan area of Pakistan with China. there are around two thousand inhabitants with a total of 240 households. People are not contacting me due to Corona Virus because I am among the first persons who came here after the Corona Virus pandemic Lockdown. Geographically, Shimshal village is at the edge of Pakistan. To the east and north is China and to the south and west is Gilgit Baltistan. It was inaccessible by jeep until 2003. I wanted to stay there but the hotel is not open yet. I don't want to camp there. So I decided to come back to Passu. fortunately back on Karakoram Highway before sunset. Tonight will stay in Passu and tomorrow will go To Hussaini Suspension Bridge and lake in Hunza. Pakistan, officially the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, is a country in South Asia. It is the world's fifth-most populous country with a population exceeding 212.2 million. It has the world's second-largest Muslim population. It is the 33rd-largest country by area, spanning 881,913 square kilometers. Gilgit-Baltistan, formerly known as the Northern Areas, is a region administered by Pakistan as an administrative territory, and constituting the northern portion of the larger Kashmir region which has been the subject of a dispute between India and Pakistan since 1947, and between India and China from somewhat later.

Dumplings to Die For

Bremen - Town of Musicians (Germany)

Bremen is known to be a city of great history. There is one particular story that was made from a donkey, a dog, a cat and a roaster who wanted to go to Bremen and become town musicians. There is even a statue about it on the city, alongside many museums and beautiful buildings which makes Bremen one of the most beautiful cities I have visited here in Germany.
Here is the link to this tale:
