If you’ve never been to Halong Bay, you need to add taking a luxury cruise through Halong Bay to your bucket list! Halong Bay is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for a good reason. It is one of the most beautiful places we have ever seen! It’s filled with giant lime stone karsts that jut out of the water in every direction for miles.
The best way to experience the bay is by a luxury cruise. There are tons of cruise ship operators offering cruises through Halong Bay. The cruises range from cheap backpack boats to five start luxury cruise ships. Since visiting Halong Bay is most likely a once in a lifetime experience, we decided to splurge on a 5 star luxury cruise to ensure that we had the best experience possible!
We booked our cruise with Signature Cruise and we were elated with our experience. Seriously, we don’t have a bad thing to say about Signature Cruises, and that should mean a lot coming from me because when I splurge on an experience I am very critical. Also, the staff treated us like royalty! They made our experience even better.
Our luxurious cruise through Halong Bay started with an amazing lunch served while we were cruising to a floating fishing village. After arriving at the floating village we were rowed around the village in a row boat by one of the women who lived in the floating village. After our row boat ride was completed, we visited a pearl farm to learn how pearls are made. To be completely honest, this sounded kind of lame to me when I read it on the itinerary, but it was actually really interesting!
After leaving the pearl farm, we were taken back to the cruise ship. After an hour or so of relaxing and taking in the beautiful views of Halong Bay, we had a cooking class where we learned to make fresh spring rolls. After the cooking class we enjoyed happy hour with more beautiful views. After happy hour, a delicious five course dinner was served aboard the boat. After dinner I had the opportunity to try my hand at squid fishing. I got really lucky and managed to catch 10!

In this video we are leaving the capital city of Hanoi and heading to Vietnam's paradise, Ha Long Bay.
Ha Long Bay is an incredible seascape of limestone karst cliffs. It has around 1600 gorgeous uninhabited islands and is a World Heritage site. Ha Long Bay has been on our bucket list for a long time and we are so excited to be sharing the experience with our family!
We were picked up in Hanoi by our tour company in a luxury limo minivan. Once we arrived to Ha Long Bay we made our way aboard the Mon Cheri. We enjoyed a welcome lunch and then got settled into our rooms. We were able to give a brief tour of the ship before we head out for our first adventure of kayaking. The day ended with a delicious dinner, egg coffee demonstration, and card tricks!

Watch Day 1 of Halong Bay Luxury Cruise with Signature Halong Cruise -
Day 2 of our luxurious cruise through Halong Bay started with an early morning thai chi lesson. We learned to do Thai Chi on the top of the cruise ship while we cruised past the beautiful karsts that fill Halong Bay. After our class we were served a light breakfast before getting on the smaller boat to visit a cave inside one of the limestone karsts.
We left for the cave at 7 a.m.. Thankfully, Signature Cruises makes it a point to get there early. By the time we had finished exploring the cave, a lot more cruise ships had showed up. The cave was packed with tourists! We were lucky to get to experience the cave with only a few other people there.
After visiting the cave we had the opportunity to kayak back to the ship. We took the long way back and circled the island that held the cave. Being in a kayak so low to the water really helped us to appreciate the massive size of the limestone mountains that jut out of the water.
After returning the ship, we were served a delicious brunch as we cruised back to the port. Sadly, shortly after finishing brunch we arrived back to the port where we had to disembark the cruise ship. It was sad saying bye to ship and the amazing staff. Our only regret is that we didn't book a longer cruise!
