Hallstatt A Picturesque Village Hidden On The Banks Of One Of Austria's Most Beautiful Lakes 8K
Hallstatt is a village in Upper Austria. Currently, a little over 900 people live there. It is in the Salzkammergut, a mountain regionin Austria. It lies on a lake.
Because of its position, Hallstatt could only be reached by boat (or by using narrow, difficult mountain trails) for a long time. At the end of the 19th century a road was built. Despite this, even in the Neolithic people might have lived there. This is because there is a lot of natural salt there. In 1846, Johann Georg Ramsauer (a salt miner) found a cemetery from the neolithic age just above the village. A cultural epoch in Europe is named after this. It is called Hallstatt culture. Other finds in the region include a Shoe-last celt (a special kind of wedge, probably used to treat wood). A blacksmith site has also been excavatzed.
Today, the village lives mainly on tourism. There is a copy of the village in China.

Hallstatt (Chinese: 五矿·哈施塔特) is a housing development in the town of Louyang located in Boluo County within the city of Huizhou, Guangdong, China. Its urban core is modelled after the small town of Hallstatt in Austria, a World Heritage Site. The center of the area contains a replica of the parish church, the fountain and various other objects from the original Hallstatt town centre. The housing project was built by the China Minmetals Ltd., a wholly owned Hong Kong-listed subsidiary of China's largest steel and mining company, China Minmetals Corp., (CMC). The name officially used by the operator is Hallstatt See - Huizhou.
In regards to Hallstatt's reaction, Hallstatt's mayor Alexander Scheutz first heard about the plans to build a replica of his town in 2011. At that point the construction was already in an advanced state. While parts of the Hallstatt population viewed the Chinese plans with scepticism, mayor Alexander Scheutz said that he saw a chance in the project for the tourism in the original Hallstatt. He personally visited the opening ceremony in 2012 and signed an agreement for cultural exchange.
