青森県八戸市で毎週日曜に開催される「舘鼻岸壁朝市」です。開催時間は日の出から９時頃まで。まだ暗い内に訪れましたが、既にオープンしてる店も多く、中には行列が出来ている人気店もありました。
販売されているものは、屋台料理をはじめ、魚介類、野菜、果物、花、パン、惣菜、骨董品等々...あらゆるものが売られてるので、見て歩くだけでもとても楽しめる朝市でした。（以前は中古車も販売されてたようですｗ）
今回食べたのは８品ですが、全てを食べ歩くことは出来なかったので、食べられなかったところは次回訪れた時の楽しみにします。

It is Tatehana Wharf Morning Market held every Sunday in Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture. The holding time is from sunrise to around 9 o'clock. I visited there while it was still dark, but many of the shops were already open, and some of them were with long lines.
The food stalls, seafood, vegetables, fruits, flowers, bread, side dishes, antiques, etc. are all on sale, so it was a very enjoyable morning market just by looking at them. (It seems that used cars were also sold before)
I ate 8 dishes this time, but I couldn't eat all of them, so I'm looking forward to visitting the shops I couldn't eat next time.

なお、今回は出店数がかなり少なく、規模を縮小して営業されているお店もありましたので、通常の規模とは異なることを補足させていただきます。

Japan’s biggest Morning Market! Very Local Feel and Food
This is one of my favourite place in Japan and not a lot of tourists visit this morning market. The Hachinohe Tatehana Wharf becomes very lively every Sunday morning, starting at 5AM until 9AM, with its morning market. Hachinohe's morning market is the biggest in Japan. It's a great place to socialize but most importantly, to get some great freshly cooked food! You can also buy fresh food such as meat and fishes as well as vegetables and fruits. As for eating, you can eat anything from soba noodles, to skewers, fishes, pastries, bread and way more. Everybody at the market is super friendly. If you ever travel to Aomori or anywhere north, don't forget to stop at Hachinohe morning market.

On the last stop on our Aomori trip we went to Hachinohe. On the night of our arrival we went to eat our way through on Hachinohe Yatai Mura (Food Stall Village)-Miroku Yokocho. In one of the restaurants I had ray for the first time in my life and squid fresh out of the water...
The following morning we went to one of the biggest morning market in Japan- Tatehana Wharf Morning Market and it is only on Sundays.
It was so nice to start the morning with a fresh cup of coffee. Only downside was that is was raining but we still enjoyed walking around.
By 8 some of the stalls sold everything so you better get there very early.
We had some grilled fish, buns, OFC had taiyaki made by a lovely old couple.

Best Shrine in Japan | Hachinohe Morning Market & Kabushima Shrine
I woke up at 5AM to go to the Tatehana Wharf Morning Market and spent dawn sipping on morning coffee, listening to live music by the bay. This is the largest morning market in Japan at over 200 stalls!
The highlight of the day was definitely Kabushima Shrine though, which I think is a shrine worth traveling 700km from Tokyo to. It's hands down the best, most surreal, coolest shrine I've been to because it's the nesting ground of the black-tipped gull. From March to August, these birds take over the shrine and is truly a sight to behold.

Miroku Yokocho yataimura, Japanese drinking street in Hachinohe!
Miroku Yokocho or also known as Yatai mura in Hachinohe (Aomori prefecture) Japan! Yatai is the Japanese word for food stands. The tiny restaurants here resemble traditional Yatai (small food stands), but the ones here are enclosed so you can enjoy them even in Aomori's cold winter like we did!
Aomori is the northern most prefecture on Japan's main island of Honshu. Hachinohe is a major port city in the southern part of Aomori, known for it's morning market, the biggest in Japan! Check out more of my videos of this Tatehana Market!

Japan, Part Three — Hachinohe City
Japan is my favorite place on the planet and I recently got to spend a week there as a guest of the Japan National Tourism Organization, and here's what happened. This is our third leg, a visit to the city of Hachinohe. It was a quick visit, but we managed to visit a 242-year old sake brewery, an island where 40,000 black-tailed seagulls breed, and a restaurant to learn about the city's annual Bouillabaisse Festa. I posted some photos and my story over at check it out to learn more!
