Einbaum-Rennen, Ile-à-Vache, Haiti
Wir waren während unserer Weltumsegelung im Mai 2010 auf der Ile-à-Vache vor der Südküste Haitis und haben ein Einbaum-Rennen für die Dorfbewohner zusammen mit einem amerikanischen Segler veranstaltet. Die Einbäume werden auf der Insel aus dem Stamm eines Mandelbaumes hergestellt. Die Menschen leben hier noch wie vor 100 Jahren ohne Strom und fließend Wasser. Die Frauen kochen auf dem offenen Feuer vor ihren einfachen Hütten. Die Männer fahren mit handgebauten Segelbooten aufs Meer zum Fischen hinaus.
