Tegucigalpa: World's Most Dangerous City? Honduras (S4E3)

The statistics speak for themselves, so we know we can't say for sure that Tegucigalpa is 100% safe. But keep in mind we only passed through Tegus'. As backpackers, we followed our common sense and didn't go outside late at night, didn't go in empty streets, and stayed with our Honduran friend Yul for our walk around the city. We met other backpackers, went to the grocery store with them, met super friendly Hondurans, ate good food, saw children playing in front of the cathedrals, teens playing soccer, etc. Just to show you that you shouldn't be scared just because of what you hear in the medias! Go explore and see the country for yourself. :)

Before leaving for Honduras, we went to see the Masaya Artisanal Market in Nicaragua, as well as the city of Leon, where Gab got a little bit sick...

Honduras (Things to do - Places to Visit) - HONDURAS Top Tourist Places
A country in Central America

Honduras is a Central American country with Caribbean Sea coastlines to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the south.

In the tropical rainforest near Guatemala, the ancient Mayan ceremonial site Copán has stone-carved hieroglyphics and stelae, tall stone monuments. In the Caribbean Sea are the Bay Islands, a diving destination that's part of the 1,000km-long Mesoamerican Barrier Reef.

NICARAGUA: The iconic Central Market ???????? (Mercado Central) of GRANADA

City of Granada, Nicaragua, Central America - views of Central market of Granada in Nicaragua. Let's go to the beautiful and colonial city of Granada in Nicaragua (Central America) and let's visit the colourful central market (mercado central de Granada).
I love local markets and I always make a special point to visit them if a town has one. They’re often one of the best ways to get a good dose of local flavour. They’re an essential part of the life-blood of the local community, and the locals depend on them for everyday basics of food and home supplies. So if you want to see what the locals are eating (as opposed to what’s being served in the fancy pants tourist restaurants or even in the street food), there’s no better place to start than bright and early at the morning market.
Granada’s market is especially good. It’s large and colorful, pungent and bustling. And insofar as markets go, it’s really the only show in town, so everything is concentrated here.
This market is very much for locals, not tourists. If you need chicken, pork, or fish for the night’s dinner, this is the place. Likewise if you need fresh yucca root, mangos, limes, milk, rice, cheese, fresh plantains or just about anything you’d put on your plate if you lived in Nicaragua. You can also get home essentials, such as basic hardware supplies like rope and tools as well as a few vendors selling clothes or Central American party supplies (ie. that is to say, piñatas). If you’re after souvenirs you’re better off going elsewhere.

Shopping for Kids Clothes in San Pedro Sula Honduras 2018

We went shopping for kids clothes in San Pedro Sula, Honduras at a clothing store that was advertising American Clothes. Upon entering the store we had to turn in all of our personal bags, which were put into a locker by security. This is a pretty normal practice in San Pedro Sula. We had to do this at mall stores, independent clothing stores, the grocery stores, office supply stores, etc.

FIJI: Suva's incredible Municipal Market, iconic fruit and ???????? produce market

The Central Market of Suva, the Municipal Market of Suva in Fiji. Let's go to the capital of Fiji, the city of Suva to visit the central market of Suva, known as the Municipal Market of Suva which is the biggest the fresh produce market near the wharf of Suva in Fiji in the Pacific Ocean. Even if you don't want to buy anything, visit the Municipal Market in Suva, Fiji, just to soak up the atmosphere. The sights, sounds and smells - it all makes for a memorable experience.
The Municipal Market (the Central Market) is the beating heart of Suva in Fiji and a great place to spend a few hours or so exploring around with a camera. At the Municipal Market (the Central Market) f Suva, the boys with barrows own the lanes and they aren’t afraid to mow down a few tourists to deliver their cassava on time. Besides the recognisable tomatoes, cabbages and chillies, you need to look out for bitter gourds, jackfruit, dalo (taro), cassava and yams. Produce is cheaper than in supermarkets and there's no need to haggle – prices are clearly marked.
Suva is the capital of the South Pacific island nation of Fiji. It's a city of broad avenues, lush parks and grand British colonial buildings, such as the Suva City Library. Suva's colorful, lively Municipal Market offers a range of local fruit and vegetables. Fiji Museum, set within the Victorian-era Thurston Gardens, contains examples of traditional canoes, war clubs and tattooing tools.

HONDURAS: The iconic fruit and produce markets ???????? of TEGUCIGALPA (Mercado Mayoreo)

Honduras (Central America), the central market of Tegucigalpa (Mercado Mayoreo) in Honduras, Central America. Let's go visit the very graphic Mercado Mayoreo in the city of Tegucigalpa, the beautiful capital of Honduras in Central America. Every Friday and Saturday, this cheap, colorful central market of Tegucigalpa (Mercado Mayoreo) sets up shop near the Estadio Nacional. There’s a dazzling array of produce and stalls, hawking everything from birdcages to vegetables – and some great little pupusa cafes, too.
Tegucigalpa is the capital city of Honduras. Set in a central valley surrounded by mountains, it’s known for its well-preserved Spanish colonial architecture. The main Plaza Morazán is dominated by the 18th-century Cathedral of St. Michael the Archangel, with its baroque interior. The Museum of National Identity traces the country’s history. It includes a virtual tour of the Copán Mayan ruins of western Honduras.

Couchsurf Honduras | SOLO FEMALE TRAVELER | Ep. 52 | Tegucigalpa

This is why you want to couchsurf ! Although some people ask me whether it is safe to couchsurf in Honduras / Central America / Latin America as a solo female traveler, I believe that by carefully selecting a well reviewed host, you can have the best time exploring a foreign country! What made backpacking and traveling in Central America amazing for me was couchsurfing and hanging out with the locals. Especially in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, I had the best experience couchsurfing with Marlon and his friends. I really saw what his life was like and I got to explore both Tegucigalpa and the nightlife of Tegucigalpa with my couchsurfing host and his friends. I was pleasantly surprised with Tegucigalpa and would recommend you backpackers to visit it! From all the Central American countries so far (starting from Mexico down till Honduras), Tegucigalpa was my favourite of all the Central American capital cities so far. It was really modern and had even a European hipster twist to it.

Solo female traveler's travel documentary on Mexico, Central America and South America. Showing how to travel cheap as a backpacker in Latin America through hitchhiking, CouchSurfing and WorkAway. Showing how to travel safe and alone in Central America: Nicaragua, El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, Costa Rica, Belize as well as Puerto Rico and backpacking in Mexico. Adventure started April 2017 - Hey! Let's Go Get Lost!
