FLY FISHING COLORADO | 3 DAY SOLO BACKCOUNTRY ADVENTURE | CAMP FISH & HIKE WEMINUCHE WILDERNESS

This was without a doubt the biggest solo backpacking adventure I have ever been on in my life. So I think it is safe to say that this is the biggest fly fishing trip of the summer. I feel so lucky and humbled that I am able to do what I do and see what I see. My young legs will grow old and one day my body will no longer be able to carry the weight. NOW is the time to do things like this, strike while the iron is hot. I hope you enjoy the first day of my three day backpacking adventure in Colorados last wild place.
The upper Rio Grande watershed splinters into several isolated drainages the further North you drive on those one lane state highways. The upper part of this particular watershed runs through arguably one of the last truly wild places Colorado. From everything I read and watched, the Weminuche Wilderness is WILD. Many accounts of large drainages and lakes all connected by beautiful meadow streams. But letters on a page only do so much for me. My eyes like to see something before they believe it. My boots only needed to take a few steps on the trail before I could feel that all the accounts WERE true. I truly felt alone and very much vulnerable to Mother Nature and her unforgiving ways. I went from top to very low on the local food chain in a matter of minutes. Bears, Moose, Coyotes, and even Mountain Lions are said to be common in these parts, and now I see why..
The expanse of this part of Southern Colorado makes for the perfect bastion for all the wild critters this Mountain West State can harbor. We saw one person on our first day. THAT IS IT. I cannot emphasize enough how much I value solitude. I was able to find an abundance in this strange new land. OH and the fishing was outstanding.

Hiking The Fish River Canyon | Namibia

A short film showcasing one of Namibia's most iconic and beautiful hiking trails, The Fish River Canyon.

The Fish River Canyon in Namibia is the largest canyon in Africa, and the second largest in the world! The hike is about 90kms long, but if you take all the shortcuts it works out to about 75km. It starts at the view point at Hobas and finishes at the Ai-Ais resort.

We even saw a Black Spitting Cobra on the hike!

'A trip to Rip off Rick's!' Rick Stein Fish & Chips Takeaway, Padstow

Rick Stein's website claims that his fish and chips in Padstow, Cornwall are the best, with a beautiful view of the Camel Estuary, but recent Trip Advisor comments contradict his claim. The comments are numerous and review the service, quality and value of his offering, with some really scathing comments, all of which remain unanswered.

In addition, Rick Stein has been taking some flack in the press for his expensive condiments with mushy peas and tartare sauce at £2 per portion (sit down price). Have you visited this year? What were your thoughts? Drop us a comment and let us know.

To find out what we thought, join us in Padstow on a beautiful evening as we sample a portion.

The Trip Advisor comments are taken at face value and have not been verified.

The standard description bit…
We are Sarah and Andrew and we film our walks around Cornwall and publish on YouTube, usually weekly. Sometimes we stay in accommodation in Cornwall and upload our vlog. Sarah is fascinated by sea glass and likes to collect it so there may be the occasional sea glass video too. The channel is a hobby and we both have normal day jobs!

Unfortunately we cannot answer comments coming in more than a week after the publishing date of the video.

Frequently asked questions:
Do we do meet ups?
We regularly receive requests to meet up from viewers and subscribers, but unfortunately we do not have availability to be able to do this.

The channel is a very time consuming hobby, fitted around our employment and family commitments. Setting aside time for meet ups, means that we are not able to film and edit our weekly videos that you love to watch.

If you happen to bump into us while out and about, we will be more than happy to have a quick chat!

Sarah and Andrew

What camera do we use?
Since December 2018 we have used: Canon Powershot G7x MkII

How do I find the books you use?
Most are still in print although some we pick up in charity shops and may be available on Amazon secondhand. Please refer to the video for the book titles. Every video shows the book three times. Sorry but we can’t put a link in every description.

Best time of year to visit Cornwall?
We love May, June for flora and fauna, July and September for spectacular scenery.

What is your dog’s name?
Sorry but we do not release the name of our dog, perhaps you can make up your own name for him.

3-Day / 43km Wild Camping, Hiking and Fishing Trip in Scotland (Glen Affric)

Join me and my wife on an epic adventure through the pristine wilderness of Glen Affric in Scotland. After finalizing our gear, we packed our backpacks with the bare minimum and headed to the airport. Our flight from London Luton to Inverness was smooth, and from there we took a car ride to Glen Affric to begin our journey.

We hiked a total of 43km, starting from Dog Falls and traversing along the Eastern side of Loch Beinn a’ Mheadhoin, Eastern side of Loch Affric, up into the valleys via the Kintail Way, back again towards Loch Affric and Loch Beinn a’ Mheadhoin meeting point, crossing over to the Western side of Loch Beinn a’ Mheadhoin for the final stretch.

The wilderness was in a state I’d never seen before: truly breathtaking and life-giving. We enjoyed two beautiful nights of camping in two epic spots, and spent three days exploring the untouched, virgin wilderness. It took us 48 hours to complete the 43km distance while carrying our packs. On the first night, we had a fire on the shingle beach, using bushcraft fire lighting techniques to get it going, including a ferro rod and silver birch bark, and old man's beard for tinder.

The fishing was as epic as the landscape itself. I managed to catch seven wild brown trout, returning six and keeping one to eat on the last night. It was absolutely delicious, and I’m grateful for the trout's life that provided us with sustenance.

This trip was filled with magical moments that will stay with me forever. It fuelled my soul and spirit to new heights, giving me a taste of even more pristine wilderness and fuelling my desire to find more untouched, virgin wilderness to experience, enjoy, and explore.

Join me on this adventure through Scotland's stunning Glen Affric, and experience the beauty of this unspoiled wilderness for yourself.

4K Yellowstone Walks - Trout Lake Otters and Fish - Yellowstone - Virtual Walking Trails Treadmill

4K City Walks - Trout Lake Otters and Fish - Yellowstone - Virtual Walking Trails for Treadmill is my favorite walk I've done in quite awhile. I took a day and went down to Yellowstone to film for my other channel, Amazing Nature Relaxation Therapy, and also to do a walk around Trout Lake near Cooke City and Silvergate, MT. The wild flowers had bloomed and I found lots of great relaxing shots to film but I also saw a lot of cool animals. At the lake, I filmed spawning cut throat trout, a ground squirrel that hid right next to the trail, a family of geese, and, best of all, two playful otters. I took some shaky closeups that Ive added in to the walk (about 1 min) of the otters. Not filmed were three bears, two wolves, and lots of bison. I hope you enjoy this walk. I can't convey the beauty of Yellowstone in words.

A STUNNING Scottish coastal walk through six historic fishing harbours & a race against the sunset!

On the east coast of Scotland, crisp, clear winter days are not as rare as you may think, and we use this one to have a crack at 'The Six Harbours Walk' which was a subscriber recommendation and a lot harder than we expected!

Join us as we arrive in beautiful Portsoy before hiking the coast westbound all the way to Buckie, passing some absolutely gorgeous harbours and scenery along the way. The official distance of this walk is 15 miles (24km) although with a detour and a lot of running about, I'm pretty sure we went a good bit further than that.

Filmed on Monday 13th February 2023.

Chilling out in the wilderness with my pack goats Bill & Levi and my dogs Ash & Juni
Cooking exclusively on the ultralight (5oz) Firebox Freestyle (Tri-Torch Configuration) wood burning camping stove. You can learn more about the Firebox Freestyle Modular Stove System here:

I've noticed that most people don't like to sleep out in the woods, most folks want to be in a tent even if there's no chance of rain. avoiding the darkness some how makes makes you feel more secure even though it is only a thin layer of nylon between you and the unknown Maybe it's mostly because I'm lazy but I really like sleeping out, I love the cool breeze, being able to see the stars and feeling like i'm part of nature. That having been said, I am still human and occasionally (quite rarely anymore) have to push out thoughts of bears or other predators that may be close by. Thankfully, I'm usually tired from all the hiking and fall to asleep quickly.
How do you deal with fears when you're in the wilderness?
It's pretty easy for me to relax when i'm in the woods but is easy to feel vulnerable and exposed. I get that. If you think about the possible hazards and the fact that you are so far from emergency services. It's easy to get anxious. I realize those hazards exist , I try to stay aware and try to be prepared but I don't dwell. If I know that I've done everything I can, it's easier to put it out of my mind which is when the magic happens!

SOLO Hike & Fish at Chester Lake, Kananaskis. Fishing and Cooking WILD Mushrooms

See you pretty soon. Cheers

Solo Hiking Upper Cathedral Lake in Yosemite!

I did this hike solo back in July 2023, the week after Tioga Road had reopened historically late in the season. Good amounts of snow still resided in shady areas above 8000 ft and I had to traverse one large snowfield during the hike. However, it was a fairly moderate hike for Yosemite's standards and had a 10/10 payoff. I went into the hike thinking Upper Lake had fish but after extensive sight fishing and multiple external sources telling me it was fishless I decided to just relax there and take a swim. With that mindset going into the hike I didn't leave time to do the lower lake or the pass, which I heard had great views of the lakes. I want to do this hike again and cover those areas I didn't explore when I did this hike. If you like (or don't like) the vlog style video, let us know in the comments!
