Samui has carved out a special niche for itself in recent years. Because there are limited ways to get here, a higher caliber of tourist is attracted so its certainly not just beers and bars available. When the sun goes down, party goers and families alike go out to play. The streets by Chaweng Beach are full of shopping and delicious eateries which is perfect for adults with children to explore. But I like that the island offers something for all tastes.
One of the places that has become an icon of the island is the Reggae pub beside Chaweng Beach. It was founded in 1988 by a Thai reggae enthusiast and at the time was just a tiny beach bar. Today the place is huge and the dance floor is usually full by Midnight every night, but the feel is still laidback. Cha Cha Moon is a newcomer to the islands evening options. It’s a restaurant during the day but as the night closes in the beachfront hot spot transforms to a house music lounge.
But if you want to party like a rock star – literally – then 9 Gems is where you need to head. This is a resort, bar and restaurant combined in one hill top luxury villa that has welcomed celebrities like rapper Ludacris. They have only two rooms but you can hire the whole spectacular building. Come here for sunset drinks followed by a private dinner with a handpicked menu by the owner Khun Lek . Think French Foie Gras and Champagne soup with fresh scallops. Yes please! All I can say is this place is indescribable.

Hard Rock Café at Chaweng Beach, Koh Samui - Walking Tour
In December 2015 Koh Samui and the beach holiday town of Chaweng Beach saw the opening of the islands first Hard Rock Cafe named The Hard Rock Cafe Koh Samui. This new Chaweng Beach and indeed Koh Samui holiday attraction is centrally located in Chaweng on the Chaweng Beach Road.
Traveller Channels Maxi and Maro recently visited Koh Samui, Thailand and although we unfortunately did not have the time to spend an evening at this brand new Hard Rock Restaurant we were able to take a quick walk through with our GoPro camera to show you the viewers what the stage area for live music, the bar, the restaurant and the merchandise store look like at the Hard Rock Cafe Koh Samui. We can understand that later on during 2016 the famous or infamous Hooters American bar will be opening up next to the Hard Rock.

Chaweng Beach Ring Road on Koh Samui - Thailand
Drive around Chaweng's Beach Road.
Just a small insight into how traffic and what Chaweng looks like at night.
The video was filmed from my motorbike, so it is a bit bumpy at times but it is still gives you a look at Chaweng at night time.
The first part of the video is heading into Chaweng and then it heads towards the start of Chaweng Beach Road, which is a one way street along the main shopping and bar areas. It then turns back towards Chaweng lake and turns right at the roundabout do do the circuit again.
In Thailand and Koh Samui the main source of transport is the motorbike/scooter. It is a great way to get around but st night it can get a bit congested. So take your time and do not rush, as traffic can turn out from many hidden corners or shops.
there are some shorter ways to get around the circuit. You can turn right into Soi Green Mango and go back out that way or there is a small Soi just before The Baci Italian Restaurant that takes you towards Chaweng lake or the Reggae Bars out the back.

We were in Chaweng Center this Saturday and as a tourist area, all the zone is dead with only a few businesses open... Some massage shops and clothes shops but that's almost all.
The Central Festival Koh Samui itself was also empty even on a Saturday.

The Cliff Bar and Grill - Koh Samui - Lamai - Thailand
The Cliff Bar and Grill is located in between Koh Samui and Lamai. It is only a few km's out of Chaweng and is situated on top of a hill that over looks the Gulf of Thailand.
They have accommodation there and also a restaurant, pool and bar.
It is a great place to stay or just go for lunch and a few drinks.
