The journey takes approximately 4-5 days through unfriendly terrain, covering over 600 miles, passing more than 25 Amerindian Villages before reaching its destination, Orinduik Falls. Guyana -- The Rupununi

In the south west of Guyana on the eastern shoulder of South America, is the Rupununi. It's an ideal location where eco-tourists, photographers, artists and bird-watchers can explore Guyana's natural beauty and discover the wildlife that inhabits the Rainforest, Mountains and Savannah. We travel deep into the interior and stay at ranches and Amerindian villages where we experience the local culture and enjoy a unique blend of Creole, Guyanese and Brazilian cuisine. At the Iwokrama field station local Amerinidans are being taught the skills of forest rangers and nature guides documenting the species of frogs, snakes and birds that inhabit the region; and at Karanambu, we meet Diane McTurk, conservationist and world-renowned expert on giant otters. discover Guyana, South America´s secret paradise

a short trailer about Guyana

One of the most uninhabited countries in the world with most of its land covered in virginal tropical rainforest. It is one of the last havens for wildlife and Amerindian tribes, a last true paradise. The only English speaking country in South America Guyana is roughly divided in three parts; the coast with its beaches and mangrove forests where the majority 750,000 inhabitants live, the Savanna Bowl where most of Guyana's ranchers live keeping true to the Vaquero (cowboy) way of live as they have done for centuries and the vast jungle which covers 80% of the country where many Amerindian communities are trying to hold on to their way of live as they have for thousands of years. Guyana - Undiscovered South America

Guyana is English speaking, culturally Caribbean and one of the last wild frontiers of South America. It's a land of pulsating music, Amerindian culture and some truly matchless wildlife encounters. Home to great rum, pristine rainforest and the vaqueros (cowboys) of the savannahs, Guyana is one of the few places left where raw adventure is still the rule, rather than the exception. Boasting one of the last tracts of virgin rainforest left on the planet, its can boast a quite stunning array of natural attractions, with some 800 species of birds being recorded here including the resplendent cock-of-the-rock.

An intoxicating combination of wild nature, community tourism and old-fashioned hospitality, this rich haven also includes the tropical Big Five - jaguar, giant river otter, giant anteater, black caiman and harpy eagle.

One of South America’s finest undiscovered eco-tourism destinations, the waning grandeur of its colonial capital, Georgetown, surrounded as it with flat coastal plains and flooded savannahs, offers up a genteel contrast to the lush Amazonian landscapes of its interior, where the thundering waters of Kaieteur Falls presents us with one of the world’s most spectacular waterfalls. One of the planet’s last great adventures, be amongst the first to discover this little-known paradise of South America.
