Guide to visiting Flores & Tikal Guatemala (2019) Mayan Ruins
In this episode we stay on in the picturesque town of Flores in Guatemala and share with you our experience of visiting the Mayan site of Tikal.
Flores is a small and beautiful town located on and island in a lake. The island is easily accessible as it is connected to .the mainland by a bridge. We show you all the island. Flores is a meca for tourist arriving in Guatemala from Belize or as a final stop before heading to Belize and is the main place that tourists stay to visit the Mayan Ruins of Tikal.
We took a day tour to the Mayan Ruins of Tikal, which are located approximate one and a half hours drive from Flores. A site filled with mystery - make sure you have a guided tour as the guides are very knowledgable and without them you would be walking around the ruins and tikal without learning anything about the Mayan history or way of life - they're also great for spotting and pointing our wildlife on the way.
We recommend visiting Tikal early in the morning as by 11am the weather is very hot and nearly 40 degrees celsius. We left at 4.30am and there is a tour that leaves around 3am if you want to watch the sun rise over the ruins.

How to Visit TIKAL Mayan Ruins | FLORES + TIKAL GUIDE
Tikal Ruins are breathtaking Mayan Ruins in Northern Guatemala. Tikal is one of the most popular places to visit in Guatemala so we wanted to show you how to experience it to the fullest!
We first spent a few nights on Flores Island before making our way into Tikal park. We wanted to thoroughly experience the ruins so we did the SUNRISE tour, explored on our own midday and did the SUNSET tour. We were blown away by the grandeur of this place and the nature all around. And as always, we provide as many tips and prices as possible so you can do this trip as well!

Hi! We are Eric and Sarah, a couple of Canadians currently travelling around Central America. We’ve been married since 2017 but have known each other since we were only 6 years old! During our last year of university, we spent 4 months in Honduras on a semester abroad and fell in love with Latin America. A Tourist's Guide to Tikal and Flores, Guatemala
From Belize, I fly Tropic Air (as the only passenger) to Flores, Guatemala, gateway to the Tikal Ruins. After landing, I transfer to the jungle, staying at the Jaguar Inn.
Then next day, I take a trip around the ruins.
Then I head back down to Flores Island for the night.
Exploring TIKAL, The Most Impressive Mayan Ruins In Guatemala
The EPIC view of Tikal really took our breath away. We spent the day exploring the most beautiful Maya ruins in Guatemala. Tikal National Park is home to over 60.000 buildings of which only a fraction has been excavated. The temples are situated in the middle of the jungle. The surroundings really give it an impressive atmosphere. As we were walking in the jungle between the temples, we came across a bunch of wildlife, which was a really cool extra. We highly recommend to visit Tikal, as it is such an amazing site to explore. You can hire a guide at the entrance to give you a tour. We recommend staying on the beautiful island of Flores, where you can easily book a tour to visit the temples of Tikal.

TIKAL Mayan Jungle Ruins | SEE IT ON YOUR OWN | Transport ONLY from FLORES | Guatemala TRAVEL VLOG
Tikal, a vast site with Mayan Ruins in the jungle of Guatemala. You can visit WITHOUT paying for a guided tour, but how easy is it? In this video, we stick to our backpacking nature and decided to visit Tikal without paying for a guided tour.
We arranged a transport ONLY option from Flores island, that would take us in the daytime to and from the site. It can only be seen for sunrise and sunset with a guide which is much more money. In the daytime it was not too busy, but difficult to navigate the twisty and turning paths. So we did get a bit lost!
In this video of Tikal, without a tour we find our way to the main jungle ruins and guide you with information and thoughts along the way.

What to do in Flores and Tikal, Guatamala.
This is part two of our trip to Guatemala. We visited the island of Flores prior to taking a tour of the Mayan ruins at Tikal. Flores is just a short flight from Guatemala City (around 40 minutes) and worth a visit for its restaurants, lake-views, friendly people, and colorful buildings. Tikal was an all day adventure of hiking, jungle exploration, bird-watching, and learning about the history of the Mayan people.

Visiting Tikal Guatemala | How to Explore Ancient Mayan Ruins
The ancient Mayan ruins in Tikal Guatemala may be the most impressive of the lot. With ruins towering over the jungle top dominated by tons of howler monkeys, visiting Tikal Guatemala is a must. To explore these ancient Mayan ruins, you should stay in Flores, a small island town that is about 40 minute drive from Tikal. I'd personally recommend getting a guide if you go as the extra cost of only $10 USD makes a big difference in what you learn.

Tikal - Guatemala
The day began in San Ignacio, Belize. We crossed the border into Guatemala and made our way to the Tikal Ruins. The Mayan site is set in the heart of the jungle, in Tikal National Park, now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Tikal consists of more than 3,000 buildings in all, dating from as far back as 600 BC. Following the ruins, we enjoyed lunch aside Lake Peten Itza before making our way to the town of Flores.

TIKAL, GUATEMALA AT 6AM (and visiting Flores)
Tikal is an ancient Mayan site that is located in the rainforests of northern Guatemala. There are over 3,000 structures with the largest one being 70 meters (300 feet)! In this video, we visited Tikal at 6AM in order to beat the crowds…and trust us, it was SO worth it! After finishing our morning at Tikal, we went back to Flores, Guatemala and went on an epic adventure. We hope you ENJOY :)

Visiting Tikal and Flores, Guatemala ????????
After crossing the border from Belize, our first stop was Tikal. Tikal is one of the largest Maya cities in Central America and was the location where the Star Wars IV: A New Hope was filmed! After spending a few hours walking around and ascending Templo IV for an amazing view, we left for Flores. We had a bit of time to walk around the Island before leaving the next day.
