AUTHENTIC Guatemalan STREET FOOD + Attractions | Guatemala City, Guatemala

???? MARIEL DE VIAJE
???? WATCH: Antigua Food Tour
???? DAVID’S BEEN HERE SHIRTS & MERCH:

On my fifth day in Guatemala in partnership with the Real Intercontinental Guatemala we explored Guatemala City and tried some of the most authentic Guatemalan street food!

Today we head out on a Guatemala City tour where we visit all the top attractions and we eat really authentic Guatemalan street food that you can only dream of.

Our first stop is the Guatemalan Typography Map where you can see what the country looks like with mountains, volcanoes and low lands. Next we head to Zone 1 (the historical center) and visit the central park. There we tried some fresh goat milk, saw the national palace, metropolitan cathedral and then head over the central market.

The central market is the biggest artisan market in Guatemala. We did a little shopping and then went to the lower level and ate some authentic Guatemalan street food. Here is a list of everything I tried:
-Pork Rind Taco
-Blood Sausage Taco
-Alot de Etole
-Tosta de Tomate
-Carrot Juice
-Chille Relleno Taco

Next time you head to Guatemala I recommend working with my friends at #VisitGuatemala

Guatemala City 2020 - Plaza De La Constitucion & Mercado Central Guatemala

Guatemala City 2020 - Plaza De La Constitucion & Mercado. We're back in Guatemala City again. This time we walk along paseo de la sexta towards the Plaza De La Constitucion. And then to the mercado central Guatemala - Visiting Guatemala City 2020 & Antigua Guatemala 2020. Guatemala City Guatemala is our first stop in Guatemala - Guatemala City to Antigua Guatemala is our second stop. This is our third trip here within the past 4 months. This trip we get to spend a little more time in Guatemala City. We visit Ciudad Cayala which was absolutely beautiful. And a must see when visiting Guatemala City. So don't just run to Antigua Guatemala. LOL. The only difference in this trip really, was the current Coronavirus scare. You'll see, I was prepared. Guatemala is my latest country to visit. Our first trip here was a birthday celebration trip for my girlfriend. I think I picked a good one. Guatemala City was our first stop and we had an awesome AirBnB. Guatemala 2020 is a date and trip that we will never forget. We absolutely loved this country and its' history. Guatemala City 2020 is a place that we'll always recommend visiting. Visiting Guatemala was an awesome choice for her birthday. We just didn't know how good it would be.Visiting Guatemala City first was a good choice as well. Since we landed here it was a good choice to get a good AirBnB for the week as a base. Guatemala City to Antigua was our ultimate route. And of course we went from there as well to Lake Atitlan and Pacaya volcano as well. Visiting Antigua was good for us especially coming and going to and from Medellin Colombia. Guatemala travel is something we both recommend now. There are plenty of things to do in Guatemala City. We chose to stay near our airbnb since we were only a block away from Sexta Avenida or should I say Avenida Sexta. Visiting Antigua Guatemala was and is a good second stop. I'd actually recommend first experiencing Guatemala City nightlife before heading to Antigua Guatemala. Travel Guatemala should be on a t-shirt somewhere just like Guat's Up? I actually have that shirt. Guatemala City Travel is our tip recommend travel if you're looking to stay near the US but be outside of the US. Central and South America are great choices. It's the same time zone as well. Travel Guatemala city was my first choice and Honduras was my second. We've even checked out living in Guatemala and joined a Facebook group for expats in Guatemala. Food in Guatemala was awesome. Some not my first choice, but overall, this was our best food trip yet. Guatemalan food is something to check out when possible. And sexta avenida Guatemala is a walking street that you have to check out. There are no cars allowed but does have a free bus that runs periodically. Restaurants in Guatemala City were, again, awesome. We'd definitely tell you to check out La Cocina de la Senora Pu.#GuatemalaCity2020 #Guatemala2020 #AntiguaGuatemala2020

In this episode we explore Guatemala City as we continue our adventure backpacking Central America. We visit the area around the Cathedral of Guatemala City.

We explore the Central Market (Mercado Central) , which was wonderful and we try some local street food. Chicken Pepian and Hilachas ( a rich beef stew).

We show you around Hostel Rocia where we were staying and a short walk to the Cathedral.

Guatemala City is very often overlooked by tourists due to it's reputation, however we had a fabulous time there.

4K City Walks: Antigua, Guatemala 360 - old colonial city at foot of volcanos

City Walks: Antigua, Guatemala old colonial city at foot of volcanos

Many people go to Antigua Guatemala for the language schools. We went to hike up a volcano and see some history. Also because we got in late and it's close to Guatemala City. There is a lot of Mayan influence and culture all over Guatemala. I was impressed by the ordered chaos everywhere. The weather was hot and I like the bustle of mornings in a city so I walked fairly early. I started at our hostel, La Quinta, but there are many very nice hotels in Antigua if you are looking for accommodation in this small historic town.

Antigua Guatemala (Spanish pronunciation: [anˈtiɣwa ɣwateˈmala]) (commonly referred to as just Antigua or la Antigua) is a city in the central highlands of Guatemala famous for its well-preserved Spanish Baroque-influenced architecture as well as a number of ruins of colonial churches. It served as the capital of the Kingdom of Guatemala. It has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Antigua Guatemala serves as the municipal seat for the surrounding municipality of the same name. It also serves as the departmental capital of Sacatepéquez Department.
The city had a peak population of some 60,000 in the 1770s; the bulk of the population moved away in the late 18th century. Despite significant population growth in the late 20th century, the city had only reached half that number by the 1990s. At the time of the 2007 census, the city had 34,685 inhabitants

The GUATEMALA CITY they DON’T tell YOU about! (con subtitulos)

What comes to mind when you hear Guatemala City or Guatemala in general? Is it danger? That it is an unsafe travel destination? Well unfortunately for many who haven’t visited this beautiful country those are the words they use to describe it, especially when it comes to Guatemala City. Guatemala City is not only the capital of Guatemala but it is the largest city in Central America. Most tourists choose to skip it all together based on it’s bad reputation but over our years of traveling we have come to know to not believe everything you hear or read on the internet so we have made it a point to seek the truth. Is Guatemala City a good place to visit? Are there fun things to do in Guatemala City or is it a place you should stay away from? Well we hope that this video gives you a bit of an inside scoop as to what Guatemala City is like so the next time you fly into Guatemala you can give it a chance or not! #guatemalacity #guatemala

Walking In Guatemala City

In this video we are walking in Guatemala City, in Zona 10, which is one of the more wealthier areas in Guatemala City. Therefore Zona 10 is also known for being one of the nicer parts of this exciting city.

Guatemala City, by locals often called Guatemala or Guate, is the capital and the largest city in Guatemala. The population amounts to approximately 1 million inhabitants in the city itself and 3.3 million in the entire metropolitan area making it the most populous metropolitan area in Central America.

The city is located in a mountain valley in the south-central part of the country. The temperature in the city varies from 10 to 25 degrees Celsius.

Within the present Guatemala City lies the ancient Mayan city of Kaminaljuyu. Kaminaljuyu is about 9000 years old and is one of America's foremost archaeological sites. The center of Kaminaljuyu was a short distance from the oldest part of Guatemala City. However, in the late 1900s, the city grew around the ruins and in some cases over the outer ruins before being protected. Many of the hundreds of temple temples have been covered with freeways, business centers, hotels and homes. The central ceremonial center in Kaminaljuyu was protected by the Guatemalan government and is now a park within the city.

During the Spanish colonial period, Guatemala City was a small city. It had a monastery called 'El Carmen', founded in 1629. The capital of Spanish colonial Central America was moved here after an earthquake destroyed the old capital, Antigua Guatemala, in 1775. King Charles III of Spain decided to move the capital on September 27 1775. This led to a major expansion of the city.

Guatemala City was the site of Central America's Declaration of Independence from Spain, and in 1821 became the capital of the Central American Federation.

Guatemala/Colorful beautiful Chichicastenango Market Part 10

Welcome to my travelchannel. On my channel you can find almost 1000 films of more than 70 countries.
See the playlist on my youtube channel.Enjoy!

Chichicastenango Market:
Market days on Thursdays and Sundays
From Panajachel 1,5 hours,From Antigua 2,5 hours to Chichi Market
Chichicastenango, also known as Santo Tomás Chichicastenango, is a town in the El Quiché department of Guatemala, known for its traditional K'iche' Maya culture. The Spanish conquistadors gave the town its name from the Nahuatl name used by their soldiers from Tlaxcala: Tzitzicaztenanco, or City of Nettles. Its original name was Chaviar.Chichicastenango serves as the municipal seat for the surrounding municipality of the same name.
Chichicastenango is a large indigenous town, lying on the crests of mountaintops at an altitude of 1,965 m (6,447 ft). It is located about 140 km (87 mi) northwest of Guatemala City.
Chichicastenango is well known for its famous market days on Thursdays and Sundays where vendors sell handicrafts, food, flowers, pottery, wooden boxes, condiments, medicinal plants, candles, pom and copal (traditional incense), cal (lime stones for preparing tortillas), grindstones, pigs and chickens, machetes, and other tools. In the central part of the market plaza are small eateries (comedores).
Among the items sold are textiles, particularly the women's blouses. The manufacture of masks, used by dancers in traditional dances, such as the Dance of the Conquest, have also made this city well known for woodcarving.
Church of Santo Tomás:
Next to the market is the 400-year old church of Santo Tomás. It is built atop a Pre-Columbian temple platform, and the steps originally leading to a temple of the pre-Hispanic Maya civilization remain venerated. K'iche' Maya priests still use the church for their rituals, burning incense and candles. In special cases, they burn a chicken for the gods. Each of the 18 stairs that lead up to the church stands for one month of the Maya calendar year. Another key element of Chichicastenango is the Cofradia of Pascual Abaj, which is an ancient carved stone venerated nearby and the Maya priests perform several rituals there. Writing on the stone records the doings of a king named Tohil (Fate). The Chichicastenango Regional Museum lies in its grounds.Wikipedia

When you travel, you are often looking for something that you don’t really know exists yet. Maybe you skim google or the guide book but the true revelations and discoveries blindside you on an idle street corner or down a dusty aisle of the local Mercado. Maybe it’s a dish, a live animal caged up that shatters your sheltered brain as you think “you can’t eat that, let it go!” Or maybe it’s just a toothless smile from a leathery-skinned merchant. They cut right through your soul, through the years of fascia built up by opening your inbox every morning at 9:05 am and driving the same stretch of road between work and home.

All of a sudden, like a boulder catapulted over your best defenses you have an internal giggle, at just how different this all is to what you’re used to. That is not only addicting, keeping the traveler looking around each corner, but one of life’s secret necessities.
