10. Explore the Marrakech medina (free walking tour)
The medina is the heart of the Marrakech, packed with shops, traditional houses called “riads”, restaurants, and many of the historic sites.

6. Stroll around Mellah Jewish Quarter
There are still a number of Jewish places here, including the Lazama Synagogue, the Miara Jewish Cemetery, and the Spice Market.

What makes the souks in Marrakech remarkable is the wide variety of exotic items you can buy, such as babouches, lanterns, ceramics, carpets, and leather goods.

With a height of 110 meters or 360 feet, these are the tallest waterfalls in the country. A day tour from Marrakech includes a hike down to the river, do a short boat ride to get closer to the falls, and hike up again.

Everything I use to film:

While I am on the go, I film with my iPhone 11 Pro Max on the Dji Mobile Osmo 3. This allows me to get super smooth shots. I combine that with the either the Saramonic lavalier mic or Rhode mic and use a mount to attach it to the gimbal.

When I film at my apartment, I use my iPhone Pro Max as the main camera and my Canon 6D with the 24-105 f/4 lens for B-roll and photos. For the overhead shots, I use an overhead camera rig to mount my Canon 6D and connect a camera monitor so I can view the shot. And when my camera is set up on the ground, I use a quick release tripod. For lighting, I use the Neewer ring light and for audio, the Saramonic lavalier mic or Rhode mic (Linked Above).

My very first time in Marrakech was back in 2009, it was a mid-point stop during a carefree summer road trip with my French-Moroccan friends. The Red City wow-ed me from the start, from eating kebabs late into the night at Jamaa el Fna Square to posing in front lotus ponds at Jardin Majorelle. Marrakech and spirited snake charmers left a deep imprint in my mind as a vibrant city fuming mystical air of hospitable ease.

Since then, the more I’ve found myself plunging further into Parisian culture, I’ve also returned to Marrakech several times as most Parisians do. The colorful escape has now expanded into tranquil stays at riads, snuggling upon Moroccan tribal textiles while beleaguered by antidotal handmade Zellige tiles. Like good skincare, I’ve compiled a Marrakech routine and it’s a simple one: buy a few kaftans, henna inked on my tanned skin from the brazen North African sun, consume tagine in all its salivating variations paired with golden coucous, followed by soothing glasses of sweet mint tea.

Morocco will always remain in a special place in my heart, but Marrakech glimmers right on top. Arabic glamor, rooftop fun until dawn. If you do it right, the city is a shiny reminder that living is one thing. To live well, though, is to have indulged in the middle of medina, with both friends and strangers alike. Marrakech, also spelled Marrakesh, chief city of central Morocco. The first of Morocco's four imperial cities, it lies in the centre of the fertile, irrigated Haouz Plain, south of the Tennsift River. The ancient section of the city, known as the medina, was designated a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1985.

Marrakech gave its name to the kingdom of which it was long the capital. It was founded in the mid-11th century by Yūsuf ibn Tāshufīn of the dynasty of the Almoravids, and it served as the Almoravid capital until it fell to the Almohads in 1147. In 1269 Marrakech passed to the control of the Marīnids, whose preferred capital was the northern city of Fès. Although Marrakech flourished while serving as the capital under the Saʿdīs in the 16th century, the succeeding ʿAlawite rulers resided more often at Fès or Meknès; however, the ʿAlawites continued to use Marrakech as a military post. In 1912 Marrakech was captured by the religious leader Aḥmad al-Ḥībah, who was defeated and driven out by French forces commanded by Col. Charles M.E. Mangin. Under the French protectorate (1912–56), Marrakech was for many years administered by the Glaoui family, the last of whom, Thami al-Glaoui, was the chief instigator of the deposition of Muḥammad V in 1953.

Camera Sony Alpha Series: We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you travel.

Western Dynamics 4 TB external hard drive. This let's you save your pictures and videos from your SD cards while you travel without having to use a computer.

Manfrotto Tripods: We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.

Travel Plug that works in pretty much any country & has four USB ports. A must for any traveler.

3 Days in MARRAKECH, MOROCCO ???????? (w/ prices!) | an early birthday trip for someone special

I surprised (kind of) my boyfriend Andrew with a trip to Marrakech to celebrate his 30th birthday this year! This was both our first times stepping foot on the diverse continent of Africa. With this being a birthday getaway, we didn't want to pack our itinerary too much and just wanted to focus on spending time in the city at a leisurely pace. In this vlog, we drank SO MUCH mint tea, got pampered at a hammam, rode camels in the desert, and haggled away at all the tempting souks (markets). I also included prices in this vlog so you can get an idea of how much things cost. Enjoy!
