Amber Cove Cruise Port Guide: Tips and Overview
The Amber Cove cruise center is located on the north coast of the Dominican Republic about 20 miles – or 32 kilometers – west of the city of Puerto Plata. The cruise center features complimentary pools and waterslides as well as shopping, restaurants, and a zip line. We previously visited Amber Cove in 2017 and returned aboard the Holland America Rotterdam in December 2022. In this video, we’ll provide an updated overview – and some new tips – for your visit to Amber Cove.

Grand Turk is an island that is part of the Turks and Caicos Islands, which are part of the British Overseas Territories. The island is a popular destination for Carnival Corporation ships. We visited the island five times between 2014 and 2018, and returned for a sixth visit aboard the Carnival Legend in April 2022. In this video, we’ll provide an updated overview – and some new tips – for your visit to Grand Turk.

2022 Updated Grand Turk Cruise Port Guide:
IMPORTANT: FOR THE FREE UMBRELLAS, CLAM SHELLS, & BEACH CHAIRS, FIND THE ONES THAT LOOK LIKE THE EXAMPLES DISPLAYED ON THE SIGN AT 0:51 IN THE VIDEO. THE UMBRELLAS HAVE THE GRAND TURK CRUISE CENTER LOGO ON THEM.
Grand Turk is a little island with a lot to offer. In addition to some of the best diving in the world, there is also the Grand Turk Cruise Center area for those who prefer spending the day shopping, swimming at a pool, or sunbathing on a white sandy beach.
The cruise terminal (which caters to Carnival Corporation cruise lines like Carnival, Princess, Holland America, and P&O) has a pier that can accommodate two ships at the same time. No tender is required. The beach, shopping, restaurants, and a pool are just steps away.

The Grand Turk Cruise Port is a massive cruise centre and the only place to dock when visiting Grand Turk by cruise ship. We are at the Grand Turk Cruise Center which is a 50 million dollar cruise port which Carnival Cruise line opened in 2006. What do you need to bring? What is there to do? We are going to tell you everything you need to know to prepare for your day at Grand turk.
To ensure you have all the information to decide if you want to visit Grand turk and what to do while there our Grand Turk cruise port guide gives you all the information you need. We review arrival and departure, port atmosphere, what to do at grand turk cruise centre, dining, what is near the port and what to bring with you.
The Grand Turk Port has lots to see and do. There are 4 main areas, shopping, pool, north beach and south beach. We thoroughly go over each area and tell you what is included and costs extra. The most popular dining location is the Jimmy Buffetts Margaritaville and that is located in between the pool area and north beach. When taking a Grand Turk cruise you are definitely to want to plan to get off the ship and explore the port. All the excursions are booked through the cruise line, so you can do that before you arrive. Some of the most popular ones are snorkeling, flowrider, and party catamaran. Booking a Grand Turk excursion is a fun way to take your trip to the next level but there is lots to do at the port so you don't need one.
There are tons of tips and tricks to ensure you have a great day. The Carnival Grand Turk Cruise port has two beaches. Not many Caribbean ports have beaches right when you get off the ship. The North beach is busier but it does have more shade and less rocks. South beach is nice and quiet with lots of available seating. The Grand Turk cruise port beach where we spent most of our day and loved it. Remember to bring all your sun protection.

Our FIRST TIME in Grand Turk! (What to do in port)
It’s the last port of our amazing 10 day cruise on Holland America Line’s Rotterdam and we are in Grand Turk for the first time! This is a unique port in that all cruise lines can dock here, but it has a private port feel to it. You can literally get off the ship and boom… the beach is right there!! I have never been to a port where you can swim so close to the ships before!! It’s beautiful!!

Grand Turk cruise port is a gorgeous place to visit. The Carnival Mardi Gras stopped in grand turk for the day during our 7 day cruise. Before getting there we were excited to visit the grand turk cruise port again because all al the stuff to see. However, this time in grand turk wasn't the best and makes us hesitant to go back. If we do return to Grand Turk again, we will look for other things to do.

Grand Turk Snorkeling Guide | Carnival Cruise Port | Caribbean Princess | 2022
Important: Details on a FREE excursion of Snorkeling at the Grand Turk Cruise Center beach.
Come join us on a morning of relaxing at the beach and snorkeling at the Carnival Cruise Line port.
As for SNORKELING, swimming and taking in the sun at the Grand Turk Cruise Center , you can chill out for the day at SunRay Beach (part of Governor’s beach) that fronts the Cruise Center with free lounge chairs, shade and clam shells (at a cost). Certainly, this is one of the nicest cruise port beaches in the region
You will need to bring a snorkel and mask, but just looking at the fish, swim googles will work out just fine. You can find Mask rentals from $10 - $20 at the north end of the beach (by locals) or kid masks set up for sell in @ the Caribbean Outpost (souvenir store) for around $40.
The Grand Turk cruise port is a 13-acre complex and is on the southern end of Grand Turk. The facility is called the Grand Turk Cruise Center. This port serves as the launch point for cruise ship shore excursions, and offers onsite gift and jewelry shops, restaurants and a spa, as well as the largest MARGARITAVILLE in the Caribbean with a large pool, a swim up BAR and load music to dance to. A favorite for many of the cruise passengers. There could be as many as three cruise ships are welcomed here each day. On this day, there were two (Caribbean Princess and Carnival’s Mardi Gras). Today, that was 7700 passengers at the port.
