WHAT TO SEE IN LA PAZ + BOLIVIAN FOOD TOUR // BOLIVIA TRAVEL VLOG

After pushing our way through altitude sickness when we first arrived in La Paz, we finally made it out of our apartment and into the bustling administrative capital of Bolivia! A new country for us, we were so excited to see the sights and start getting to know Bolivia.

We spent the day exploring the city and trying as many local Bolivian dishes as we could, which is our preferred way of getting to know a new culture. We start our by day eating at a common chain restaurant called Wistupiku in the Sopacachi neighbourhood before making our way to San Pedro Prison, notoriously one of the most dangerous and lawless prisons in the world. From there we took mi teleferico up to El Alto to see the beautiful city views, and then headed back into the city centre to visit Mercado Lanza for lunch (which was an experience!). Then it was off to San Francisco Square where we found all sorts of art and food stalls, before finally seeing the notorious Witches Market which truly does hold many, many petrified llama fetuses.

Throughout this day of exploring we managed to try 8 Bolivian foods: humintas, pastel de queso, api, fricase, mocochinchi, a fruit salad dessert bigger than Nicole's head, helada de canela, and choripan. It was a full day of exploring and eating, but we finish the day feeling like we had experienced quite a bit of La Paz in just one day!

If you are wondering what to see in La Paz, if Bolivia is safe, or what foods to eat while you are in La Paz, then watch the video through to the end to see all the things you can get up to in just one day in the big city!

La Paz, the Highest City in the World | Witches, El Alto and Getting Arrested? | Bolivia TRAVEL VLOG

The highest city in the world is officially La Paz, often thought of as turned touristy we decided to see if it was worth visiting. La Paz and El Alto city, right next door, sit in amongst mountains and cable cars connect the cities and areas within.

We stumble across the largest market in South America, see the real witches market and learn about indigenous culture in El Alto. In La Paz, we learn about the infamous San Pedro Prison, see the touristy witches markets (it doesn't compare to El Alto!) and almost get arrested!

In this video we didn't film too much direct to camera as the local people were not too keen on filming so we remained respectful, and also getting over our illness we were not feeling the best.

We are so new to vlog travel, having just provided highlights set to music before (see the SE Asia series). SO this adventure is filmed and edited on the road, in hostels, on the ground with THE most slow WIFI. Having to travel and edit is going to be challenging. We would love for you to follow us in the journey and hope the videos provide good information if you are planning to travel to the area or just interested. If it helps just one of you, then thats amazing!

Join as we learn how to navigate this continent and this world, with a backpack on and camera set to record. Our day to day experiences, the highs and the low. REAL backpacking, hostels, transport.

LA PAZ, BOLIVIA | Travel Food & Fun

La Paz, Bolivia is a remarkable city! The cable car system is an incredible form of public transit and the witches market is some kind of strange we had never seen. The Capital of Bolivia sits at over 12,000ft and has been recognized as one of the New7Wonder Cities.

In this video we get outside of the business of the city for a bit to hike the Valley of the Moon! We wanted to do it how the locals would so we decided to take all the local transit to get there...no touristy short cuts. Later one our way back we also went to the Cholitas Wrestling on our own as well. It saved us some extra cash :)

What made La Paz really special to us was the people. The markets are massive and there are people out working, celebrating, creating art, and so much more...and they're doing it all over. We talked to more locals here and heard they're stories more than anywhere yet.

This video is part TWO as we did A LOT while we were in the city.

Next up: Check out our snack video and if not we'll see you in UYUNI!

LA PAZ, BOLIVIA (An unexpected adventure!)

Cable cars are just the public transport in La Paz!

We had no expectations for the city of La Paz or really, any of Bolivia. But we had such a great day running around the city, checking out the Valle de Luna (Valley of the moon), The witches market, Riding the Cable cars, and trying our first Bolivian Saltena!

The BIGGEST Market in South America I La Paz El Alto Bolivia

We visited the biggest market in South America in La Paz, El Alto, Bolivia. It was pretty overwhelming to see this market because of its size. The market is located in the most dangerous part of La Paz, El Alto. Unfortunately, we didn't feel any danger at all, so please don't believe what the media says and go find it yourself.

La Paz has one of the best transportation that we have ever seen. El teleferico, aka cable cars, will bring you everywhere in the city, and it's pretty awesome to visit La Paz Bolivia from above.

We hope you enjoyed our La Paz Travel video, and stay tuned for the next one. Finally, gonna show you some Bolivian food.

The BEST Bolivian Street Food to Try in La Paz

Finally, some street food video from La Paz, Bolivia! Actually, it's our first one since we're in South America. We were excited about this one because who doesn't like to eat?
Bolivia is full of fantastic street food and especially in La Paz!

According to our hotel owner, we had the best saltenas in La Paz and walked around Mercado Lanza to try some good street food bites. Even tried cow's heart - anticucho in Mercado Camacho, known as the best spot to eat them there.

A day trip to Tiwanaku, eating in markets in La Paz and staying overnight at Isla Del Sol, Bolivia

From one of the highest capital cities in the world, we took a day trip to the Tiwanaku ruins, a Pre-Columbian archaeological site which is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Archeology nerds will love this!

We also then stayed the night at the idyllic Isla Del Sol, an island on Lake Titicaca - the highest freshwater lake in the world. It was so nice to wind down for the evening and slow down the pace on the island. I also met a new friend - Esmeralda - who had moved not long ago from the capital city of La Paz with her family. She initially was trying to get me to take a photograph of her and her pet alpaca (which young local kids often do to try to make a buck from the tourists - out of necessity!); but very quickly I sensed a deep curiosity in her. She was intelligent - she told me she learned how to speak seven different languages from the various tourists she met on the island! She very quickly took my hand and regarded me as her amiga, which I am privileged to be.

A Tourist's Guide to La Paz, Bolivia

We drive up from Lake Titicaca, to La Paz. We see the sights, including Plaza San Francisco and see the llama foetuses in the Witches' Market

La Paz, Bolivia and the Witches Market | 2020

In this video we will show you how we traveled La Paz, Bolivia.

You need to spend a few days in La Paz, exploring the Witches Market and then make your way to Uyuni to do the Bolivian Salt Flats.

La Paz is a beautiful city that sits on the edge of the mountains. The main mode of transportation is their gondola's, which are all over the city and cost around $0.50 to ride them. The city has a high elevation of 3,640 meters.

La Paz, in Bolivia, is the highest administrative capital in the world, resting on the Andes’ Altiplano plateau at more than 3,500m above sea level. It stretches to El Alto city in the highlands, with snow-capped, 6,438m-high Mt. Illimani as its backdrop. The city's dramatic setting can be taken in during rides on Mi Teleférico, the aerial cable car system.

The Witches' Market, also known as El Mercado de las Brujas and La Hechiceria, is a popular tourist attraction located in Cerro Cumbre, a mountain clearing in La Paz, Bolivia.
