Top reasons to visit The Gambia, and not only ☀????

Why The Gambia?

And why not?

These are my favorite things to do in The Gambia!
Be amazed by these top places and experiences in The Gambia! iilluminaughtii

Think of long sandy beaches that are never overcrowded, a vibrant colorful culture, wonderful wildlife, and friendly English-speaking locals; there’s no end of reasons why you should consider a Gambia holiday.

The Gambia in West Africa is a fascinating place, and with no rain between November to the middle of June virtually guaranteed, and temperatures in the 30s, it is a fantastic winter sun destination. The coast has many lovely, long sandy beaches which are never over-crowded, even in the height of the season. And you’ll find it much cheaper than many other popular winter sun locations such as the Caribbean.

Are you visiting The Gambia for the first time? Here are some great things to do to ensure you get the most out of your holiday.

Take a bath in Sanyang Beach

There are many lovely sandy beaches in The Gambia, none of which ever get overcrowded and some with not another soul in sight. Sanyang, also known as Paradise Beach, is many people’s favorite....

Explore a Fishing Village

There are fish markets at Bakau, Tanji and Sanyang. These are colorful, vibrant places where you can watch the pirogues (fishing boats) come in and unload the day’s catch. ...

Don't miss a visit to Kunta Kinteh Island

Kunta Kinteh Island, formerly called James Island and St Andrew's Island, is an island in the Gambia River, 30 km from the Gambia River Barra. Fort James is located on the island. It is less than 3.2 km (2 miles) from Albreda on the river's northern bank.

Explore Banjul

A visit to The Gambia’s capital, Banjul, will add some history and culture to your African adventure.

Banjul is located on the island of Santa Maria, or Banjul Island, at the mouth of the Gambia River, which flows into the Atlantic Ocean. The metropolitan area has about 460,000 inhabitants

Visit the Royal Albert Market and Serekunda market

Wind your way around the labyrinth of alleyways lined with ramshackle stalls as you explore the Royal Albert Market in The Gambia.

The tourist market selling clothes, jewelry, arts and crafts, is much like any other of the many markets dotted around the coastal tourist areas, aimed specifically at visitors to The Gambia.

Spend some days at Jynack Island

Jinack Island (also spelled Jinak or Ginak) is in the North Bank Region of the Lower Niumi District of The Gambia, in West Africa.

Get into Abuko Nature Reserve and Tanji Bird Reserve

Abuko Nature Reserve and Tanji Bird Reserve are located in the Kombo South District in the West Coast Region in the southwest coastal area of The Gambia in West Africa.

A walk along the beach at sunset

The sunsets in The Gambia can be spectacular. Being so near the equator the sun goes down very quickly around 7 pm (give or take half an hour).

While I constantly try to find the positives in every place I visit, there are a few nations that I just simply didn't enjoy.

The country of BRUNEI is one of them.

I went to Brunei back in 2014, three years before I made videos, but my negative experiences in the country have stuck in my mind ever since. That, combined with its absurd human rights laws such as stoning to death LGBT members, I felt like this video needed to be shared with the world.

Have you ever visited any countries that you didn't enjoy? Please share below, I'm curious to know.

MAP OF THE GAMBIA

greetings my friends. this is a map of the Gambia. The Gambia is a very small and narrow country whose borders mirror the meandering Gambia River.

The Gambia is less than 50 kilometres wide at its widest point, with a total area of 11,295 km2. About 1,300 square kilometres of the Gambia's area are covered by water. It is the smallest country on the African mainland. In comparative terms, the Gambia has a total area slightly less than that of the island of Jamaica.

also, Senegal surrounds the Gambia on three sides, with 80 km of coastline on the Atlantic Ocean marking its western extremity.

The present boundaries were defined in 1889 after an agreement between the United Kingdom and France. During the negotiations between the French and the British in Paris, the French initially gave the British around 320 kilometres of the Gambia River to control. Starting with the placement of boundary markers in 1891, it took nearly 15 years after the Paris meetings to determine the final borders of the Gambia. The resulting series of straight lines and arcs gave the British control of areas about 16 kilometres north and south of the Gambia River.

The Gambia also contains three terrestrial ecoregions: Guinean forest-savanna mosaic, West Sudanian savanna, and Guinean mangroves. thats all. please comment and subscribe for the best maps. goodbye.

#gambia #gambian #thegambia #mapschool #mapsolo #petamap #cartemap #mapamap #kartemap

8 amazing facts about The Gambia| All you need before you visit #thegambia #smilingcoast #allyouneed

In this jaunt rocks video I’ll be showing you 8 amazing facts about The Gambia. Here is all you need to know before a visit to the smiling coast of Africa. This travel guide presents you the facts of smiling coast of Africa.

1 The Gambia is located in West Africa on the Atlantic coast and is entirely surrounded by Senegal.
The Gambia is the smallest country in continental Africa. Only the island nations of Cape Verde, Comoros, Mauritius, São Tomé and Príncipe, and Seychelles are smaller.

2 Nationals of Ecowas, the EU, and many other nations are offered 30-90 days visa free access. Please remember to check the details with the gambian immigration authority before travelling.

Also the Gambia can easily be accessed at affordable rates by mostly air and road within 6hrs from Europe and within Africa.

3 The Gambia is home to nine different tribes
The largest of these tribes is the Mandinka, along with the Fula and Wolof, all of whom live together harmoniously.
However, English remains the official language.

4. The Gambia is well known as 'the smiling coast' and not without good reason. Gambians are among the friendliest people you could hope to meet.
As you explore The Gambia you'll find almost everyone, whether they are total strangers or old friends, will have a smile for you.
It can come as a bit of a shock to first time visitors.

5.The gambia is home to the Kunta Kinte Island, formerly known as the James island and the stone circles of the Senegambia

6.The gambia is blessed with pristine beaches along its 80km atlantic coastline. Here you’ll find plenty of sun loungers, restaurants and beach bars.
Enjoy the still and idyllic long stretches of golden sands backed by gently swaying palm trees.

7. The Gambia is renowned for its abundant supply of fresh seafood; lady fish, barracuda, butter fish and Atlantic prawns
are just some of what you'll find on many menus.

8. The Gambia has a sub-tropical climate with sunshine throughout the year and average temperatures between 29°C and 34°C.
There are two distinct seasons: towards the end of October the dry season begins and it's not until mid June that any rain
is seen again, marking the start of the green season.

Note: I also noticed that Gambia is huge on sex tourism in africa and it also has great musicians like sona jorbateh. So if you are looking for where
to visit in africa, the Gambia is a nice place to visit in west africa.

For those that ask the question, is the gambia safe? My answer is a resounding yes, however, you need to avoid common tourist mistakes like wearing heavy jewelry and going to unknown areas in the dark hours of the night.

Conclusion: There's so much more to this country and u'll only discover it by experiencing the sights and sounds yourself.
Why not plan a visit today?

See you on the other side

About Gambia: The Gambia, officially the Republic of The Gambia, is a country in West Africa. It is the smallest country within mainland Africa and is surrounded by Senegal, except for its western coast on the Atlantic Ocean. The Gambia is situated on both sides of the lower reaches of the Gambia River, the nations namesake, which flows through the centre of the Gambia and empties into the Atlantic Ocean. It has an area of 10,689 square kilometres. Banjul is the Gambian capital and the countrys largest metropolitan area. The largest cities are Serekunda and Brikama. The Gambia shares historical roots with many other West African nations in the slave trade, which was the key factor in the placing and keeping of a colony on the Gambia River, first by the Portuguese, during which era it was known as A Gâmbia. Later, on 25 May 1765, the Gambia was made a part of the British Empire when the government formally assumed control, establishing the Gambia Colony and Protectorate. In 1965, the Gambia gained independence under the leadership of Dawda Jawara, who ruled until Yahya Jammeh seized power in a bloodless 1994 coup. Adama Barrow became the Gambias third president in January 2017, after defeating Jammeh in the December 2016 elections. Jammeh initially accepted the results, then refused to accept them, which triggered a constitutional crisis and military intervention by the Economic Community of West African States, resulting in his exile. Serekunda (proper: Sayerr Kunda or Sere Kunda, Arabic: سيريكوندا‎, sometimes spelled Serrekunda) is the largest urban centre in The Gambia. It is situated close to the Atlantic coast, 13 km (8 mi) south-west of the capital, Banjul, and is formed of nine villages which have grown together into a larger urban area. Banjul is the capital city of the Gambia, a small West African country bordered by Senegal. The city sits on an island where the Gambia River meets the Atlantic Ocean. The city's main entrance is marked by the immense, columned Arch 22 gateway.
