Why Guyana, Suriname & Belize Part of the Caribbean?

Though Guyana, Suriname, and Belize are geographically located in South and Central America respectively, they are all considered to be Caribbean countries. Buy why?

Guyana in South America borders Venezuela, Suriname, and Brazil, and Suriname similarly borders Brazil, Guyana, and French Guiana, a French territory. It is even a more extreme case for Belize, which shares its border with only Mexico and Guatemala, and is surrounded by only Spanish-speaking countries.

So why are these countries often grouped together with the Caribbean? And what makes a region the Caribbean begin to begin with? Let’s now tackle this question.

The Guianas: South America's Wild Coast

At the top of South America are three small territories. Until about ten years ago, not a single road connected them to the outside world. They are some of the world’s least talked about places and yet all three have interesting stories to tell. Stories of sugar and slavery, calypso and cults. In this series of videos I’m going to tell the story, of the Guianas...

MAP OF GUYANA

hello hello my friends. this is a map of beautiful guyana. The territory OF Guyana is one of the world's most sparsely populated countries.

The country can be divided into five natural regions: a narrow and fertile marshy plain along the Atlantic coast where most of the population lives; a white sand belt further inland (hilly sand and clay region), containing most of Guyana's mineral deposits; the dense rain forests (Forested Highland Region) in the southern part of the country; the drier savannah areas in the south-west; and the smallest interior lowlands (interior savannah) consisting mostly of mountains that gradually rise to the Brazilian border.

Some of Guyana's highest mountains are Mount Ayanganna (2,042 meters , Monte Caburaí (1,465 meters ) and Mount Roraima (2,772 meters – the highest mountain in Guyana) on the Brazil-Guyana-Venezuela tripoint border, part of the Pakaraima range. Mount Roraima and Guyana's table-top mountains are said to have been the inspiration for Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's 1912 novel The Lost World. There are also many volcanic escarpments and waterfalls, including Kaieteur Falls which is believed to be the largest single-drop waterfall in the world by North of the Rupununi River lies the Rupununi savannah, south of which lies the Kanuku Mountains.

The four longest rivers are the Essequibo at 1,010 kilometers long, the Courentyne River at 724 kilometers, the Berbice at 595 kilometers (370 mi), and the Demerara at 346 kilometers. The Courentyne river forms the border with Suriname. At the mouth of the Essequibo are several large islands, including the 145 km wide Shell Beach along the northwest coast, which is also a major breeding area for sea turtles and other wildlife.

The climate is tropical and generally hot and humid, though moderated by northeast trade winds along the coast. There are two rainy seasons, the first from May to mid-August, the second from mid-November to mid-January.

Guyana has one of the largest unspoiled rainforests in South America, some parts of which are almost inaccessible by humans. Thanks for listening. please subscribe for the best maps and for the love of guyana.

Guyana: South America's Cultural Melting Pot of History, People, Food, and Nature

Guyana is well known for its beautiful landscapes, which include the massive Kaieteur Falls and unspoiled rainforests that are home to an incredible diversity of wildlife. Afro-Guyanese, Indo-Guyanese, and Amerindian influences are significant in its multicultural society and have enriched the country's customs and cuisine. Additionally, Guyana's recent emergence as an oil-producing nation has garnered international attention.

In this video, we will be covering “Guyana”. Keep watching to see the best local food to try, the most fascinating place to visit, and a historical location.

The Country You Didn't Know Existed... Until Now | GUYANA

Join me in my 7 day Extreme Hiking Adventure through the most remote part of Guyana in South America, where I'll see the most glorious waterfalls in the world, have a near death experience and physically exhaust myself in this extreme hike and environment.

Today I start in the capital city of Georgetown, I sample the local food cuisine with the singing Chef, I then take a small bush plane to see the crown jewel of waterfalls called Kaieteur Falls, and I finish in the remote jungle village of Paruima where tomorrow I start my 5 days hiking adventure through the jungle where I'll see the most beautiful waterfall in the world (in my opinion, you'll see why in the next vlogs) I document what hiking this area is all about, I have a near death experience ( if you follow me on Instagram you would already have seen my experience, and because we were the first tour here they have since fixed the situation that happen here plus it was a freak act of nature that made it happen anyway...just had bad luck) and I show you the most unknown and beautiful sights of this NEW Hiking Trail, Guyana and South America.

This trip was made possible by the Guyana Ministry of Tourism, Wilderness Explorers of Guyana and LOTUS Travel PR Agency. They invited me out to show you this brand new hiking trail that's now open to everyone. We were the very first tour group to get access to this experience.

Flying into Guyana - First Impressions of Georgetown

How I Afford to Travel (Free Training) →
Our 10 day trip through Guyana starts here in the capital of Georgetown!

This was an incredible trip to one of the least visited countries in the world. We started in Georgetown and got the chance to try to make the famous Seven Curry, with Singing Chef Adventures. Then we went to the National Park to find the manatees, before finally ending up along the river for sunset.

From exploring the Amazon basin, to finding a harpies eagle nest, to staying in community eco lodges and finally flying to Kaiteur Falls - Guyana is a country to add your list.

Special thanks to Wilderness Explorers for the incredible itinerary -
Check out Singing Chef Adventures -

Huge thanks to @jonny.melon for the extra drone footage.

Why I Really Don't Like This Country ????????

UPDATE: I WENT BACK TO BRUNEI TO GIVE IT A 2ND CHANCE!

While I constantly try to find the positives in every place I visit, there are a few nations that I just simply didn't enjoy.

The country of BRUNEI is one of them.

I went to Brunei back in 2014, three years before I made videos, but my negative experiences in the country have stuck in my mind ever since. That, combined with its absurd human rights laws such as stoning to death LGBT members, I felt like this video needed to be shared with the world.

Have you ever visited any countries that you didn't enjoy? Please share below, I'm curious to know.
