ESWATINI: Formerly Known as Swaziland | 10 FACTS YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT IT

Eswatini is a country located in the southern part of Africa, landlocked with South Africa and Mozambique in its surroundings. Before bearing the name of Eswatini, this country was formerly called Swaziland. But, did you know that despite this name change, Swaziland has always been “Eswatini”?

Eswatini is a destination with lions and elephants in “Royal Hlane National Park'', and black and white rhinos in “Hlane and Mhkaya Reserves''. The safaris are very rewarding, but there are also possibilities for safari on horseback, mountain bike or on foot, if you want to get closer to yourself. This even applies to the rhino, which can be followed on foot - one of the most thrilling safari experiences there is. When it comes to bird watching, the variety of species found in Eswatini's varied habitats matches that of the much larger Kruger Park just to the north of the country.

Eswatini is home to many African wild animal species with some 132 recorded mammal species, many of which are protected in animal parks and nature reserves across the country. Rhinos, giraffes, hippos and elephants are high on most visitors' wish lists. You can certainly see a lot of them in Eswatini, alongside a small number of predators and many antelopes and small mammals and reptiles.

Eswatini has around 17 protected areas that are home to several species. Mkhaya is one of the best places on the continent to see black and white rhinos. Black rhinos are considered endangered, which unfortunately means that there are not many left on earth. White rhinos, however, are considered near threatened. This means that there are more white rhinos than black rhinos, but they don't have many either.

But what is the difference between a white and black rhino? Well, white rhinos have bigger skulls than black rhinos. Their foreheads also blend more into their back and also have a smaller shoulder hump than black rhinos. White rhinos are the second largest land mammal, just smaller than elephants. Not only is the black rhino the smaller of the two, it's also nicknamed the “hook-lipped rhino” for its eye-catching lip. The other distinguishing feature is that the black rhino has rounded ears, while the white rhino's ears are pointed.

The Swazi nation is an amalgamation of over 70 clans. Their chiefs form the traditional hierarchy under the “ngwenyama” and “ndlovukazi”, who belong to the largest clan, the “Dlamini”.

Indeed, the merger reunited clans already living in the region that is now Eswatini, many of which were of Sotho origin, and clans of Nguni origin who entered the country with the Dlamini in the early 19th century. Traditional administration and culture are governed by uncodified Swazi law and custom, which are recognized both constitutionally and judicially. The language is SiSwati, which is akin to Zulu, although it shares official status with English, which is actually generally used for official written communication.

The Swati diet is based on grains and vegetables. Meat dishes are reserved for special occasions when dishes such as goat stew, roast goat thigh or roast free-range chicken are served. Mealies, a porridge made from corn or sorghum, is the staple food. The often bland porridge is served with spicy stews made from vegetables and leafy greens. Pumpkin, green beans, corn, spinach, beets, rice, and sweet potatoes are frequently used ingredients.

Some of the popular dishes are emasi (sour milk), a fermented milk delicacy where raw cow's milk is fermented and filtered, corn on the cob (roasted or boiled), umbcweba, and umkhunsu (dried meat spicy, similar to jerky). Typical dishes are sishwala, a thick porridge served with a meat or vegetable stew; incwancwa, a sour porridge made from fermented flour flour; umbidvo wetintsanga, squash leaves cooked with peanuts; sidvudvu, a pumpkin-based porridge mixed with flour flour, and tjwala, the traditional beer.

The two main cultural ceremonies of Eswatini are the Incwala in December and the Umhlanga in August. The Incwala is sometimes described as a ceremony of the first fruits, but, spread over six days, it is a much more complex ritual of renewal and strengthening of the kingship and the nation, with songs and dances. used only on this occasion. The Umhlanga, or dance of the reeds, brings together the girls and young unmarried women of the country to cut reeds for the annual repairs of the windbreaks in the village of the queen mother; it lasts five days. It is also the symbol of the unity of the nation and its perpetuation through the massed ranks of young women.

Swaziland AKA eSwatini| South Africa Day 12

9/26/18 We ran into a bunch of cows when leaving the Marriott and stopped at Mugg & Bean for breakfast. We drove across the border from South Africa to Swaziland AKA eSwatini. Our first stop was Swazi Candles, then the Mantenga Cultural Village. Francisco was able to participate during the Sibhaca traditional dance demonstration lol. We got checked in at the Emafini Country Lodge with spectacular views overlooking the grand Ezulwini Valley , tried out the pool, and then had dinner.

Crossing the Eswatini border illegally.

One of the craziest things I have ever done.

2021 started crazy for me!
We took a little 4 day trip to Eswatini (former Swaziland) and because of wrong information from the government, we had to cross the border illegally. Through the bush. We met traffickers and illegal workers that cross the border on a weekly basis to seek employment in neighbouring South Africa.
We found Eswatini to be very welcoming and safe, however there is one big problem:
If you want to reach something in an economical sense (=wealth) you have to a) work for the government in Eswatini – which many refuse due to corruption – or b) work in South Africa.
The regulations are quite tough for immigrant workers though, so the only possible way to achieve something is – through the bush!
We went on that journey and experienced what it's like.
We went from Johannesburg, South Africa to Mbabane, Swaziland (Officially you now have to say Eswatini or eSwatini).
Day 1/3 in Eswatini.

How to enjoy Eswatini's Mantenga on a budget

Wassup good people,
In today's vlog we visit Eswatini's Mantenga and show you how to spend a full day chill on a budget of E132 per person. SUPER AWESOME.
The first place we visited is the Farm to Table garden restuarant in Mantenga Crafts Centre where we enjoyed an amazing brunch, incredible ambience and the sweetest service from our waitress.
We then moved on to Manted cultural village to enjoy a sundowner by the Mantenga Waterfalls.
Mantenga is an area located in Ezulwini, just a few kilometres from the capital city of Mbabane.

Thanks for watching :).

MAP OF ESWATINI

salutations my friends. this is a map of Eswatini , Africa. A small landlocked kingdom with an area of 17,364 km2 , Eswatini is bordered in the north, west and south by South Africa and by Mozambique in the east. Along the eastern border with Mozambique is the Lebombo Mountains, a mountain ridge at an altitude of around 600 metres . The mountains are broken by the canyons of three rivers, the Ngwavuma, the Great Usutu and the Mbuluzi. The western border, with an average altitude of 1,200 metres, lies on the edge of an escarpment. excuse me. please comment about Eswatini. continuing.

Eswatini is separated into four geographical regions. These run from north to south and are determined by altitude. Mbabane, the capital, is on the Highveld. The Middleveld, lying at an average 700 metres above sea level is the most densely populated region of Eswatini with a lower rainfall than the mountains. Manzini, the principal commercial and industrial city, is situated in the Middleveld. The Lowveld, at around 250 metres , is less populated than other areas and presents a typical African bush country of thorn trees and grasslands. Eswatini contains three ecosystems: Maputaland coastal forest mosaic, Zambezian and mopane woodlands, and Drakensberg montane grasslands.
Eswatini is divided into four climatic regions: the Highveld, Middleveld, Lowveld, and Lubombo plateau. Generally speaking, rain falls mostly during the summer months (December to March), often in the form of thunderstorms. Winter is the dry season. Annual rainfall is highest on the Highveld in the west, between 1,000 and 2,000 mm . The further east, the less rain, with the Lowveld recording 500 to 900 mm per annum. Variations in temperature are also related to the altitude of the different regions. The Highveld temperature is temperate and seldom uncomfortably hot, while the Lowveld may record temperatures around 40 °C in summer. thats all for now. thanks for listening. please subscribe for the best maps and for the love of Eswatini. goodbye. #mapschool #maps #mapas #eswatini

MAP OF ESWATINI

greetings my friends. this is a map of Eswatini. The principal Swazi social unit is the homestead, a traditional beehive hut thatched with dry grass. In a polygamous homestead, each wife has her own hut and yard surrounded by reed fences. There are three structures for sleeping, cooking, and storage (brewing beer). Larger homesteads also have structures used as bachelors' quarters and guest accommodation. Central to the traditional homestead is the cattle byre, a circular area enclosed by large logs, interspersed with branches. The cattle byre has ritual as well as practical significance as a store of wealth and symbol of prestige. It contains sealed grain pits. Facing the cattle byre is the great hut which is occupied by the mother of the headman. The headman is central to all homestead affairs, and he is often polygamous. He leads through example and advises his wives on all social affairs of the home, as well as seeing to the well-being of the family. He also spends time socialising with the young boys, who are often his sons or close relatives, advising them on the expectations of growing up and manhood.

also ,The sangoma is a traditional diviner chosen by the ancestors of that particular family. The training of the sangoma is called kwetfwasa. At the end of the training, a graduation ceremony takes place where all the local sangoma come together for feasting and dancing. The diviner is consulted for various purposes, such as determining the cause of sickness or even death. His diagnosis is based on kubhula, a process of communication, through trance, with the natural superpowers. The inyanga, (a medical and pharmaceutical specialist in western terms) , possesses the bone throwing skill used to determine the cause of the sickness.. thats all. please comment and subscribe for the best maps. goodbye.

#eswatini #mapschool #mapsolo #petamap #cartemap #mapamap #kartemap

ESWATINI, officially known as the Kingdom of Eswatini is located in Southern Africa

ESWATINI, officially known as the Kingdom of Eswatini, is a landlocked country located in Southern Africa. Here's an overview of its location, economy, education, and history:

Location:
Eswatini is situated in the southeastern part of the African continent. It is bordered by Mozambique to the east and South Africa to the west and south. The country is relatively small, covering an area of around 17,364 square kilometers (6,704 square miles). The capital city is Mbabane, and Lobamba serves as the legislative and royal capital.

Economy:
Eswatini has a small, open economy with agriculture, manufacturing, and services being the main sectors. Agriculture plays a significant role in the country's economy, employing a large portion of the population and contributing to both subsistence and commercial farming. The major crops cultivated include sugarcane, maize, cotton, citrus fruits, and pineapples.

In recent years, Eswatini has been making efforts to diversify its economy by attracting foreign investment and promoting sectors like manufacturing and tourism. The manufacturing industry focuses on textiles, agribusiness, and the production of goods for export. Tourism is also a growing sector, with visitors attracted to Eswatini's natural beauty, wildlife reserves, and cultural heritage.

Education:
Eswatini places importance on education and has made significant progress in expanding access to education for its citizens. The country has a free and compulsory primary education system, and the government has been investing in infrastructure and resources to improve the quality of education.

There are also several tertiary institutions in Eswatini, including the University of Eswatini, which offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Other educational institutions provide vocational training and technical skills development.

History:
Eswatini has a rich history dating back centuries. The Swazi people, from whom the country derives its name, migrated to the region in the early 18th century. In the late 19th century, the Swazi kingdom faced colonial pressures from both the British and the Boers. Eventually, the kingdom entered into protectorate status under British administration in 1903.

Following independence from British rule, Eswatini adopted a monarchy and became a sovereign kingdom in 1968. King Sobhuza II, who reigned from 1921 until his death in 1982, played a pivotal role in the country's transition to independence and the maintenance of Swazi cultural traditions. Today, Eswatini remains a constitutional monarchy, with King Mswati III being the current monarch.

It's worth noting that the political landscape and events in Eswatini have evolved since my knowledge cutoff in September 2021. For the most up-to-date information, it's advisable to refer to recent sources or news outlets.

History[edit]
The town grew after the nation's administrative centre moved from Bremersdorp (now called Manzini) in 1902. It derives its name from a Chief, Mbabane Kunene, who lived in the area when British settlers arrived.
Economy[edit]
Mbabane's closest border crossing to South Africa is Ngwenya-Oshoek, and though Swazi is the primary language, English is widespread. Mbabane, and Swaziland itself, depend on tourism and sugar exports. It is also a commercial hub for the surrounding region, while tin and iron were mined nearby. The city has two sites for light industries.
Education and culture[edit]
Mbabane is the home of the Waterford-Kamhlaba United World College of Southern Africa, as well as one of the three campuses of the University of Swaziland. Limkokwing University of Creative Technology is a private international university that lies by the South African-Swaziland border with several university candidates from Swaziland. Indingilizi Gallery is an art gallery in Mbabane, established in 1982 and showcases a range of Swazi art, including sculptures, paintings, batiks, mohair, ethnic jewellery and pottery.[2]
Geography and climate[edit]
Mbabane is located in the district of Hhohho, of which it is also the capital, and lies on the Mbabane River and its tributary the Polinjane River in the Mdimba Mountains. The average elevation of the city is 1243 metres. Neighbourhoods and suburbs include Mbangweni, Sidwashini, Kent Rock, Sandla, Westridge Park, Malunge, New Checkers, Msunduza and Vukutentele.
Due to its altitude, Mbabane features a moderate subtropical highland climate (Cwb). The city has a mild climate and snow is a rare event, which has occurred only three times since 1900[3]. The city averages only four days of frost a year. The average temperature is 11 °C (52 °F) in July and 22 °C (72 °F) in January.[4]s. It lies on the MR3 road.
