The History of Cameroon
The history of Cameroon is a fascinating tapestry woven with the threads of ancient civilizations, colonial rule, and a quest for independence and unity. The region that is now Cameroon has been inhabited for thousands of years, with evidence of human presence dating back to prehistoric times.
Before European contact, Cameroon was home to a diversity of ethnic groups and powerful kingdoms, including the Tikar, Bamum, and Duala, among others. The region's coastal areas witnessed early contact with European explorers and traders, leading to the establishment of trade posts.
During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, European colonial powers, primarily Germany and later France and Britain, exerted control over different parts of Cameroon. After World War I, the territory was divided into French Cameroon and British Cameroon under League of Nations mandates.
Cameroon's quest for independence gained momentum in the mid-20th century, culminating in the unification of French and British Cameroon in 1961. On January 1, 1960, French Cameroon gained independence, followed by British Cameroon's unification with the country in 1961.
Since then, Cameroon has experienced both political stability and periods of unrest, with a multi-party system and efforts to foster national unity. Despite challenges, Cameroon's rich cultural diversity and historical legacy continue to shape its identity, making it a captivating and dynamic nation in the heart of Africa.

Memorizing every UN Member Nation | Geography (Now) Challenge!

Putting that blindfold on took me back to the days of when I use to be into Cubing. Good old days.

This time around, I wanted to make the better use of this lockdown and get done with all the stuff I've been procrastinating on. This was on that list. I should probably work on finishing The Alchemist now.

The challenge is basically to list out all the UN member nations and the two observant states as of late March 2020. There are 193 in total.

Also, this wasn't as challenging as I first assumed. I think I spent much more time filming editing this video than preparing for it. Also, here's the link to the uncut video, if you feel the need to check that I didn't remove my blindfold during this challenge:

The past few days in Antananarivo, Madagascar have been overwhelming, intense and eye-opening. And I apologize for the delays in posting these videos -- it's been nearly impossible to find decent enough wifi.

Madagascar, as a whole, is a beautiful tropical island with stunning greenery, giant baobab trees and unique wildlife (like lemurs!). It's also massive -- about twice the size of my home state of Arizona -- floating 250 miles off the southeastern part of mainland Africa.

But putting the natural beauty aside, Madagascar is one of the World's poorest countries, with the 5th lowest GDP per capita. Walking on the streets of Antananarivo, I couldn't help but observe and analyze what I was seeing --- people just barely managing to survive, working labor-intensive jobs with very little pay.

My new local friends and I took a mini road trip to some outer villages, where I learned about the daily life of people working in the markets. Here's what I discovered.

If there's any takeaway from today (and through travel in general) -- it is to appreciate the life I live. If you are reading this as well, consider yourself lucky because you have internet, which most of the people in Madagascar cannot afford.

MAP OF CAMEROON

hello my friends. this is a map of Cameroon. The country is located in Central and West Africa, known as the hinge of Africa, on the Bight of Bonny, part of the Gulf of Guinea and the Atlantic Ocean. Cameroon controls 12 nautical miles of the Atlantic Ocean.

Tourist literature describes Cameroon as Africa in miniature because it exhibits all major climates and vegetation of the continent: coast, desert, mountains, rainforest, and savanna. The country's neighbours are Nigeria and the Atlantic Ocean to the west; Chad to the northeast; the Central African Republic to the east; and Equatorial Guinea, Gabon and the Republic of the Congo to the south.

Cameroon is divided into five major geographic zones distinguished by dominant physical, climatic, and vegetative features. The coastal plain extends 15 to 150 kilometres inland from the Gulf of Guinea and has an average elevation of 90 metres. Exceedingly hot and humid with a short dry season, this belt is densely forested and includes some of the wettest places on earth, part of the Cross-Sanaga-Bioko coastal forests.

The South Cameroon Plateau rises from the coastal plain to an average elevation of 650 metres. Equatorial rainforest dominates this region, although its alternation between wet and dry seasons makes it less humid than the coast. This area is part of the Atlantic Equatorial coastal forests ecoregion.

there are Elephants in Waza National Park also.
An irregular chain of mountains, hills, and plateaus known as the Cameroon range extends from Mount Cameroon on the coast—Cameroon's highest point at 4,095 metres —almost to Lake Chad at Cameroon's northern border at 13°05'N. This region has a mild climate, particularly on the Western High Plateau, although rainfall is high. Its soils are among Cameroon's most fertile, especially around volcanic Mount Cameroon. Volcanism here has created crater lakes. On 21 August 1986, one of these, Lake Nyos, belched carbon dioxide and killed between 1,700 and 2,000 people. This area has been delineated as the Cameroonian Highlands forests ecoregion.

The southern plateau rises northward to the grassy, rugged Adamawa Plateau. thats all. please comment and subscribe for the best maps. goodbye.

#cameroon #cameroun #camerún #camerun #mapschool #mapsolo #petamap #cartemap #mapamap #kartemap #kamerun

While I constantly try to find the positives in every place I visit, there are a few nations that I just simply didn't enjoy.

The country of BRUNEI is one of them.

I went to Brunei back in 2014, three years before I made videos, but my negative experiences in the country have stuck in my mind ever since. That, combined with its absurd human rights laws such as stoning to death LGBT members, I felt like this video needed to be shared with the world.

Have you ever visited any countries that you didn't enjoy? Please share below, I'm curious to know.
