NERVOUS! Lifting our 20 TON Boat Home Out of the Water! Sailing Vessel Delos Ep. 404

This hasn't gotten any less SCARY for us ???? Even though it's our 9th time pulling Delos out of the water, it's still such a nerve racking experience...there are just so many things that can go really really wrong. You’re basically asked to steer your boat into a narrow, concrete like bunker with a gigantic machine looming over head. There’s usually some old tires and rusty bits of metal waiting to impale your vessel should anything go wrong. So you approach slowly and if you have timed the tides correctly you glide over the slings, and stop just before ramming your bow into the wall, or your forestay into the machine’s cross brace (both of which are considered bad form ???? ) As the machine tightens the slings and starts to take the weight, it’s a surreal experience to feel yourself and your boat lifted out of the water supported by only a few straps and pins.

Hauling Delos out of the water marks the end of our 11th season of sailing. It feels like SO LONG ago that we cast the lines in Shelter Bay and began the 3,000+ mile journey from the Panama Canal up to the northern end of the Sea of Cortez. Our time being back in the Pacific ocean has pretty much mirrored what we've found to be true about cruising in general- alternating between the highest highs and the lowest lows, sometimes even simultaneously. While we'd had some pretty big challenges during this time (Hurricanes, Salmonella poisoning, and basically the entire coast of Costa Rica spring to mind) overall it's been a pretty special and unforgettable season for us, and just seeing how much Sierra has grown and developed during this time is pretty mind blowing! But it feels great to close another chapter and make way for an exciting new one as we prepare to cross the Pacific Ocean again!

Lake Atitlan 2020 - Shopping in Guatemala with only $5

Lake Atitlan 2020 - Shopping in Guatemala with only $5. We're shopping with 5 dollars in Guatemala. What can you get for $5 in Panajachel Guatemala? Here we go to a local store to see what we can get.

This was our last day on Lake Atitlan, Panajachel and Guatemala as a whole. I wanted to see how much we could get for $5 US in an average grocery store. Unfortunately it was early on a Sunday morning and we couldn't find a grocery store that was open. So I decided to go to the only store that was open and that was a convenient store. To me, the prices weren't that good versus the US. At least for what we got. This is just my thought. Maybe a little better for eggs, milk and tortillas and most anything corn based, but to me everything else was about the same.

This is our Guatemala Travel Guide - Antigua Guatemala to Panajachel Guatemala & Lago Atitlan is where we'll visit during this video. Lake Atitlan was on our radar since we arrived in Antigua Guatemala. Lake Atitlan Guatemala is what the local tour companies would advise us to visit. Since My girlfriend is a planner, heading from Antigua to Panajachel was our logical first leg of our journey. Antigua to Panajachel Guatemala is where most begin their trek to Lake Atitlan.

Also known as Lago Atitlan, Lago Atitlan Guatemala is the way it would be pronounced in Spanish. Antigua Guatemala is our spot, don't get me wrong, but Lake Atitlan Panajachel would have to be our second favorite place visited during our visit to Guatemala. Panajachel is the main town to get to from both Guatemala City and Antigua Guatemala when heading to Lake Atitlan, aka Lago Atitlan. Panajachel Guatemala is a funky little town right on the lake and probably the main town to move around to and from other towns along the lake. If going from Antigua to Lake Atitlan just ask any tour company or guide in town. and there are plenty of them. Guides also hang out in Parque Central. Guatemala City is a good jump off spot since your flight will probably land there. But any city, really, is easy to plan a trip to the lake.

San Marcos Guatemala was a cute town, but really we weren't there long enough to make a fair review. The flys were intense and I couldn't eat while there.

Guatemala City to Lake Atitlan is probably a 3 hour drive. Atitlan Guatemala is now a major tour attraction. But really, not too many Americans know about it. So, keep it a secret please. Atitlan Guatemala 2019 or should I say now, Atitlan Guatemala 2020, is a good way to search for visits to the lake. Guatemala Travel is the way to go people. A Guatemala Travel Guide is a good way to get started. Antigua travel should be at the top of your list if visiting Central America. Guatemala is the country, Antigua is the city. If visiting Antigua Guatemala and I could be of assistance, please comment on the video and I'll help you as best I can.

Below are links to the products that I recommend. If you choose to purchase any of them, I get a few pennies for it. #CommissionsEarned If I didn't highly recommend something I wouldn't put it on my channel.
