Guadeloupe Drone Flight: Guadeloupe, a French overseas region, is an island group in the southern Caribbean Sea. Resembling a butterfly, its 2 largest islands are separated by the Salée River. In the southern Caribbean Sea, there lies a French overseas department called Guadeloupe. The sole strait, Riviere Salée, that divides the archipelago's two main islands is the shape of a butterfly. Long beaches and sugar cane farms can be found on the hilly island of Grande-Terre. The island of Basse-Terre is covered by the Parc National de la Guadeloupe, which includes the La Grande Soufrière volcano and the Carbet waterfalls. Marie-Galante and La Désirade are two of the smaller islands.

About Saint-Anne: Sainte-Anne is a city in the southern part of Grande-Terre, considered by some to be one of the most touristy towns of Guadeloupe (with Le Gosier and Saint-François). Als Teil des französischen Staates gehören die Inseln von Guadeloupe zu den nördlichen Antillen der Karibik. In Guadeloupe verschmelzen Kulturen aus verschiedenen Kontinenten und bilden die kreolische Kultur, die kreolische Küche und die kreolische Musik heraus.
Die beiden Hauptinseln Grande Terre und Basse Terre sind durch einen schmalen Meeresarm getrennt und sind geographisch sehr unterschiedlich. Grande Terre besteht aus Kalkgestein und schönen langen Sandstränden und bildet mit seinem trockenem Klima den Mittelpunkt des Tourismus. Basse Terre ist die gebirgige Inselhälfte mit einem großen Regenwald und dem Vulkan La Soufrière. Weitere kleinere Inseln sind Marie-Galante, La Désirade, die Îles de la Petite Terre sowie die Inselgruppe der Îles des Saintes.
Die Ureinwohner Guadeloupes sind die Arawak, deren Spuren sich heute noch auf Petroglyphen wiederfinden. Im 9.Jhd. wurden sie von den ebenfalls aus Südamerika stammenden Kariben verdrängt.
Als Christoph Kolumbus 1493 in Guadeloupe landete, legte er zunächst auf Marie-Galante an und segelte dann weiter auf Basse-Terre. Christopher Kolumbus blieb jedoch nicht, sondern segelte weiter, weil die Spanier größere Inseln entdecken wollten. Die kleinen Inseln der Karibik wurden erst später nach von den Briten und den Franzosen kolonialisiert, so auch Guadeloupe im Jahre 1635, wo sich Bauern aus der Normandie, der Bretagne und der Charente in Guadeloupe ansiedelten. Sie errichteten eine Plantagenwirtschaft mit afrikanischen Sklaven und bauten vor allem Kaffee und Zuckerrohr an.
In Destillerien wird das Zuckerrohr zu Rum verarbeitet, dem Rum agricole, der als bester Rum der Karibik gilt. Als Aperitif wird der Teapunch gereicht.
Im Zuge der französischen Revolution wurde die Sklaverei 1794 abgeschafft, aber wegen der billigen Arbeitskraft 1802 wieder eingeführt und dann endgültig 1848 abgeschafft.
Die heutige Bevölkerung ist eine Verschmelzung der Nachkommen der schwarzen Sklaven, Ureinwohnern, weißen Kolonialisten und indischen und syrisch-libanesischen Einwanderern. Heute kommen noch chinesische Einwanderer hinzu. Es ist eine kreolische Zivilisation, aus der sich eine einzigartige Kultur durch die Einflüsse der verschiedenen Kulturen herausgebildet hat.
Die Kreolische Küche ist eine Mischung aus europäischen Küche mit afrikanischen Zutaten, orientalischen Aromen und Produkten der Karibik.
Gwoka ist die traditionelle Musik auf Guadeloupe. Gwoka ist nicht nur Musik und Tanz , sondern drückt ein ganzes Lebensgefühl aus und erinnert an die Zeit der Sklaverei.
